    From 1930, assistant draftsman at Pathe-Natan. Worked as sketch artist and builder on the sets of Jean Vigo's L'Atalante (1934). Full art director from 1944. After the war, began a long association with the films of director Claude Autant-Lara. Internationally known for constructing the sets for the James Bond movies Thunderball (1965) and Moonraker (1979) from the drawings of Ken Adam.
