Billy, a massive, hulking of a young man with the intellectual capacity of a preschooler, has had the unique opportunity to grow up in a house next to a drive in theater that specializes in showing gore-soaked slasher films. Confined to his room for most of his existence, he passes his time at night watching these violent movies play out on the big screen directly in view of his bedroom window. Update: The Arcadian will be having it's world premier at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival which coincidentally is one of our favorite festivals.
When Ao wrote about this film at the end of 2009, we didn't have a plot synopsis and we still don't. However, we do know it has something to do with a character called "the lighthouse keeper" who is on a trip for revenge and redemption in a "strange future world".
Strange indeed. The trailer itself is reminiscent of trailer styles from an era past, and furthermore evokes the "dying world in madness" feeling I get from one of my favorite films, Shatter Dead.

The Arcadian is an upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure that follows actor J. Larose (of Saw III, Saw IV, and Repo! The Genetic Opera fame) as an enigmatic warrior called "The Lighthouse Keeper" who goes on a quest for "revenge and redemption in a strange future world" we're told is "reminiscent of wild 1970s pop sci-fi."
Inspired in equal parts by samurai movies, rock operas, and underground comics, we're told that the visual world of The Arcadian will be an homage to the work of underground illustrators and be something quite unique due to the fact that it was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II camera - chosen for its unparalleled low-light sensitivity.
