The Friendship Game (2022) – Horror Movie – Review: What a Pity
The Friendship Game is a Canadian horror movie directed by Scooter Corkle, starring Peyton List, Brendan Meyer and Jennifer Copping.

A teen and YA horror flick that could have been better. A promising premise, a disappointing production.

Premise

A group of friends come across a strange artifact that will put their friendship at risk. All the while, a hacker watches them with her spyware.

Movie Review

Do you know when a movie is not particularly well elaborated and the story is a bit disappointing? ‘The Friendship Game’ is one such example. Following a rather flat start, and despite it, you think to yourself, “oh, I will give it a chance.” Because the premise seems promising, and we expect it to tell us a story with multiple narratives, and think, “it might actually be worth the while.”

Unfortunately, that is not the case, but, hey, we did give it a chance.

Broil's Meaty Soup Barely Simmers: A Film Review
*full disclosure: a Blu-ray copy of this release was provided by Well Go USA. Director: Edward Drake. Writers: Edwards Drake and Piper Mars. Cast: Jonathan Lipnicki, Avery Konrad, Lochlyn Munro, Timothy V. Murphy, Corey Large and Annette Reilly. In the Greek play Oedipus Rex, Sophocles writes: "the pain we inflict upon ourselves hurt most of all.” And, there is more pain than pleasure in a viewing of Broil, unfortunately. From director Edward Drake and first time screenwriter Pipers Mars, these two filmmakers have put together a story of a demon coming-of-age, with the teenager Chance (Avery Conrad). Shot in Vancouver, B.C., the exterior scenes look great. However, the writers' attempt to create a Greek Tragedy with Broil mostly falls flat. The genre swings towards being a demonic family drama and this is not what this reviewer was hoping for. Also, Broil is sometimes strangely shot in a music video style.

Roland Tzafetás in Well (2016)
"Who are we?" "I've been waiting for you to ask that question..." Well Go USA has released the first official trailer for an indie horror film titled Broil, from filmmaker Edward Drake. The film follows a dysfunctional family of demons vying to control the future of their wealth. After a violent incident with a school nemesis, 17-year-old Chance Sinclair is sent out to live with her draconian grandfather August Sinclair at his lavish estate, where she soon uncovers an ancient family secret. Suddenly caught between warring factions of the family, her only hope for survival may well come from a killer-for-hire. The film stars Avery Konrad as Chance, with Jonathan Lipnicki, Lochlyn Munro, Timothy V. Murphy, Corey Large, and Annette Reilly. This looks good...? Not just a dysfunctional family drama, a dysfunctional family of demons drama. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Edward Drake's Broil, direct from Well Go's...

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter's Tale Review
It's Christmas in Greendale, and everyone is decking the halls with the supernatural on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special.

This Chilling Adventures of Sabrina review contains spoilers.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Holiday Special

“Christmas is the best time for ghost stories”

Bridging the gap between the end of the first season and the second season that debuts on April 5th, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina holiday special finds the Spellman family celebrating the Winter Solstice. It’s a week before Christmas, and Sabrina, still emotionally raw from her breakup with Harvey and having to sign her name in the Book of the Beast, is feeling confused. She yearns to chat with her late mother, Diana (Annette Reilly), whom she glimpsed in limbo back in episode nine to get some guidance on how to balance her mortal and witch sides.

She decides to hold a séance to contact her mom,...

Q&A: Annette Reilly on Playing Sabrina’s Mother in Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina and Directing A Typical Fairytale

Rowling's magical book series and their movie adaptations, Sabrina Spellman's parents continue to have a pivotal impact on her life from beyond the grave. With the first season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina now on Netflix and the holiday special and second season set to premiere in the coming months, we caught up with Annette Reilly in our latest Q&A to discuss playing Sabrina's mother, Diana, working on the show's occult-centric sets, what she enjoys the most about playing Sabrina's mom, and directing her short film A Typical Fairytale.

Thanks for taking the time to answer questions for us, and congratulations on your role as Sabrina Spellman’s mother, Diana, on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. What was the audition process like for the role of Diana?

Annette Reilly: It’s absolutely my pleasure! Thanks for taking the time to do the interview!
