The other nine actors will all be submitted in supporting. Owen McDonnell, Michael Smiley, and Barry Ward will enter in Best Drama Supporting Actor. Eva Birthistle, Anne-Marie Duff, Thaddea Graham, Sarah Greene, Eve Hewson, and Fiona Shaw will be in Best Drama Supporting Actress. McDonnell, Graham, and Shaw were Season 2 cast additions.

The show will not enter any performers in either guest category.

Bad Sisters season 3 gets a doubtful response from star and co-creator Sharon Horgan. Developed by Horgan, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer, the story takes place in Dublin. It focuses on Eva Garvey (Horgan) and her sisters as they find themselves right in the middle of a life insurance investigation following the mysterious death of her brother-in-law. Bad Sisters season 2 recently wrapped up its run on Apple TV+, showcasing what happens when the Garvey sisters get caught up in another dangerous situation.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following the season 2 finale, along with executive producer Dearbhla Walsh, Horgan addressed the possibility of returning for another installment of the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy. Horgan mentioned anthology dramas, such as HBO's The White Lotus and Netflix's Beef, but doubted that the Garveys could convincingly find themselves in another dangerous situation. Walsh agreed, joking about how many more people the main characters could kill.

The Garvey sisters in Bad Sisters go from a bad situation in Season 1 to an even worse one in Season 2. The Apple TV+ original Irish black comedy was an instant hit when it debuted in August 2022. The show went on to earn four Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Lead Actress for Sharon Horgan, who also developed the series.

Though the story of the Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ may be over following the Season 2 finale on Christmas Day, creator Sharon Horgan is already working on another project.

During an interview for Bustle’s “One Nightstand,” Horgan revealed her hopes to bring an adaptation of Vladimir by Julia May Jonas to the screen. Jonas sought out Horgan.

“I was making Bad Sisters and had no headspace whatsoever, and Julia hadn’t written a screenplay before… so it was sent to me as a sort of, ‘Is this something we could do together?’” Horgan told Bustle. “And I was like, ‘No, no, no, I just don’t have time.’ Then they said, ‘Just read the first chapter.’ So I read the first chapter and then I just made time.”

Bad Sisters creator Sharon Horgan had what she calls “a germ of an idea” for the second season of the Apple+ series while in the midst of shooting season one.

That idea, as the final episodes of the second season reveal, revolved around Ian Reilly (Owen McDonnell), Grace’s ex-husband, and the idea that while Grace (Anne-Marie Duff) got some happiness after killing her cruel first husband, she couldn’t escape her own tragic cycle.

“Basically, I had that when I was on set for the first season, the sort of lightning striking twice idea and how vulnerable women like that who have been through an abusive relationship, don’t necessarily walk into a healthy one. They’re kind of open and vulnerable to people taking advantage,” Horgan tells The Hollywood Reporter.

There's the incredible writing and acting from Sharon Horgan, the chemistry between all five of the charismatic sisters, and the seamless blend of moving storylines with a bit of dark Irish humor. In Season 1, viewers are enveloped into the world of the Garveys, but they're also able to get to know two important supporting characters: Thomas (Brian Gleeson) and Matt Claffin (Daryl McCormack). The Claffin brothers are insurance investigators who are looking into the death of Grace's (Anne-Marie Duff) husband, and they become connected to the sisters in intriguing ways. Although Season 2 has had some fantastic twists and turns, the new detective characters are leaving something to be desired.

The Bad Sisters fate of Grace, the eldest Garvey sister, in season two wasn’t an easy choice for creator and star Sharon Horgan.

The idea for her — spoiler alert! — death originated in the writers room, but was initially rejected for being too grim. Ultimately, her fate played out first in fragments at the end of episode two, when Grace gets into a car crash, and then expanded on in episode three, released on Wednesday, with Grace’s funeral.

“We had the idea about what would happen but then we dropped it, because we thought, ‘I don’t know if we can continue the tone of Bad Sisters with Grace dying.’ It felt too dark,” Horgan tells The Hollywood Reporter of the back and forth around Grace’s fate. “Then we ended up going back to it because we couldn’t really see a world where...

Not everything needs a second season.

“Bad Sisters,” created by Sharon Horgan, Brett Baer, and Dave Finkel, and based on the Belgian series “Clan,” was one such series, neatly wrapping up the eponymous Garvey sisters’ story with ten episodes that premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022.

But of those many shows that should have left well enough alone, a rare few manage to pull off that second installment (if not more beyond that) with — if not resounding success, then aplomb. “Bad Sisters” didn’t need a second season, but Horgan and her team execute the near-impossible task of picking up, building out, and smartly continuing the story, even if Season 1 remains superior.

Season 2 catches up with the sisters — Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Eva (Horgan), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson) — a few years after the other four planned to kill Grace’s husband, only for her to end up killing him herself.
