Denis Villeneuve recently revealed that he does not intend on helming a different film first, and his adaptation of Dune: Messiah (though the movie will likely end up being titled Dune: Part 3) will be his next project. Production is expected to get underway later this year, and we now have word on the return of a certain character from the first movie.
Though this won't come as a surprise to anyone who has read Frank Herbert's seminal sci-fi saga, here's your Spoiler warning just in case.
Jason Momoa's Duncan Idaho was killed off towards the end of Dune: Part One, but Jeff Sneider has now confirmed that the Aquaman star will reprise the role for the third film.
How does Duncan return after what looked like such a definitive death? Well, in the Dune universe, an artificial copy (not exactly a clone) of a deceased person known as...

In an exciting update for ‘Dune‘ fans, Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic reports that Jason Momoa is set to return as Duncan Idaho in the highly anticipated sequel ‘Dune: Messiah.’
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film will continue the saga where Duncan Idaho is resurrected as a ghola—a clone created from genetic material, aligning with Frank Herbert’s original storyline.
Fans of the book will already be familiar with Duncan Idaho’s unique journey in ‘Dune: Messiah,’ but for those new to the story, we’ll avoid revealing too much about how his return unfolds. Suffice it to say, his resurrection plays a crucial role in the intricate political and philosophical conflicts that define this chapter of the saga.
The plot of ‘Dune: Messiah’ thickens as Timothee Chalamet’s character, Paul Atreides, finds himself overwhelmed by the religious zeal and ongoing jihad he’s tied to.

Bumblebee director Travis Knight takes on the duties of bringing He-Man to the big screen in the upcoming Masters of the Universe adaptation. Knight’s impressive work on Kubo and the Two Strings was followed up by the Transformers prequel spin-off and most fans of the franchise hailed it as one of the best and faithful to the original series. Knight was a professed fan of the 80s original, which made him pretty ideal for that property and one can assume he’ll bring the same enthusiasm to his Masters of the Universe reboot.

You know what they say: If at first you don't succeed, just make another live-action adaptation of a beloved cartoon (and toy line) and cast as perfect a leading man as you'll ever find. Fans of the "Masters of the Universe" franchise might as well have invented the definition of "long-suffering," doomed to wait decades to see any attempt to make another film come to fruition since the 1987 "Masters of the Universe" movie oddity that we're still talking about to this day. Well, that patience might just be about to pay off in a big way.
Despite some tense moments indicating behind-the-scenes troubles, the "Masters of the Universe" movie that Netflix infamously scrapped before it found a second life over at Amazon is trucking right along -- and, with the production currently in the middle of filming, set photos have already begun trickling onto social media. George Lucas is the genius mind behind the epic space opera saga Star Wars. The franchise started in 1977 with Lucas later expanding it with the addition of the prequel trilogy. The prequels weren’t as well-received and faced heavy criticism for several aspects. However, Lucas had a surprisingly deep intention behind one character’s presence in the story.

In the prequels, Natalie Portman played the role of Padme Amidala, the love interest of Anakin Skywalker. According to historian Paul Duncan, Lucas had a much deeper meaning behind the character’s presence in the story, revealing she was meant to represent true democracy and not Obi-Wan Kenobi. Here is what Duncan revealed about Padme in Star Wars prequels.

I’ll admit, I rolled my eyes when it was announced that Nicholas Galitzine had been cast to play He-Man in the new live-action Masters of the Universe movie that’s supposed to be going into production very soon. I just didn’t see any potential for He-Man in this actor. But now, a behind-the-scenes image has dropped online to confirm that Galitzine has been putting in the work to become the character, as he is now buffed up and blonde. George R.R. Martin has weighed in on the newest Game of Thrones spinoff, so what’s his verdict on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?
Game of Thrones fans are, of course, still awaiting the update for the novel series. While the show is long over, the Song of Ice and Fire novels are still going with George R.R. Martin, who is infamous for taking his time in writing.
At least fans are going to be treated to a new addition to the Got universe in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The upcoming series is based on Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight. Expectations are naturally high but how does Martin feel?
Well, on his blog, the author posted his feelings after seeing the first six episodes and they’re pretty positive!
“It’s done. Ira and his team wrapped the first season months ago, and moved right on to post production.

The Masters of the Universe toy and cartoon franchise got a live-action film adaptation back in 1987, with Dolph Lundgren taking on the role of lead hero He-Man, who defends the planet Eternia (and the rest of the universe) from evil forces, usually headed up by the villain Skeletor. To cut costs, the majority of the film is set on 1980s Earth, with He-Man and various other characters being transported from Eternia to Earth with the use of a “Cosmic Key.” Another live-action film adaptation of Masters of the Universe has been in development hell for a long time, but it looks like might finally escape into production, as Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios are pushing the project forward and aiming for a theatrical release date of June 5, 2026. The cast has been assembling over the last several months, with Nicholas Galitzine set to play He-Man, Camila Mendes (Riverdale) taking on the role of Teela,...

Frank Herbert's "Dune" universe is brimming with interesting characters. From brutal Harkonnens to heroic Atreides, conniving Reverend Mothers to heartwarming Fremen, the franchise has no lack of interesting people. If there's one fellow who wins the award for the guy you want around, though (for the laughs along with the protection), it has to be Jason Momoa's Duncan Idaho. From his surprisingly mundane last name to his relaxed nature to his battlefield prowess, Idaho is a standout character in "Dune" — that is until he suddenly dies toward the end of the first movie.
As Paul Atreides and his mother, Jessica, flee from the wrath of the Harkonnens, Idaho stays behind, giving his life to slow their enemies down and give his lord and lady a chance to escape. This heroic last stand makes Idaho's role that much better in the story, but it also means Momoa had to...

Does anyone want to see that?”
Cue the anxiety about baring it all. The Avengers star admitted he spent some time in doubt, worrying about how fans would react to his role as Duncan Wedderburn alongside Stone’s Bella Baxter. But his biggest worry? Hollywood’s prude phase. “Sexuality is so deeply connected to the psychology of a character,” Ruffalo shared, pointing out that it should be explored through the character, rather than shying away from it.

Dune: Prophecy may not have been the thrilling spinoff that many fans were hoping for, but the show did a great job of expanding this on-screen universe by introducing many new aspects from Frank Herbert’s books that weren’t used in the films. Most notably, the show offered plenty of backstory on humanity’s war with the Thinking Machines, which is an integral part of Dune’s lore that Villeneuve’s movies understandably didn’t go into detail about. Dune: Prophecy’s Emperor narrative was ultimately too familiar to leave much of an impression, but the worldbuilding was excellent.
It’s unclear exactly how much of Dune: Prophecy will prove to be important in the upcoming movies, but the show could end up being a valuable resource for exploring aspects of Herbert’s novels that haven’t been needed in Villeneuve’s films yet. The first season has already proved this,...

Warning! Spoilers for Outlander season 7, episode 15 ahead!
Roger took a lot of heat for a decision he made in Outlander season 7, episode 15, but he ultimately saved the series from a disgusting book moment. This is an example of the Starz TV show diverting from Diana Gabaldon's books, but in this case, it was ultimately for the best. The subtle change in Roger's decision making allowed his and Buck's story in 1739 to go in a different direction. Sure, Buck was pretty angry at Roger for it in this Outlander episode. However, the character's season 7 story ended in a much more heartwarming way as a result.
Earlier in Outlander season 7, Roger in Buck went back in time in search of Jemmy, who Rob Cameron abducted. What they didn't know was that Rob had never actually taken Jem through the stones, but their trip to the 18th century was far from a waste of time.

A new year brings with it a plethora of new weird moments to acknowledge and even more to ignore. There’s the upcoming sociopolitical scene: grappling with the malcontent that’s led Donald Trump to the White House again, bracing for deportations, corporate marauding, and more cultural upheaval. But there’s also a new heft of offerings from both established authors and first-time novelists. Most of the writers here are each unpacking what it all means through searing fiction or incisive essays — and a couple are just going for pure escapism.

Warning: Some Spoilers lie ahead for I Know What You Did Last Summer!
The '90s marked a revolutionary shift for the horror genre as filmmakers started to focus on the slasher formula, thanks in large part to Scream's success. One of the keys to that movie's success was writer Kevin Williamson, who not only went on to pen its direct sequel, but also found success with 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer. Unfortunately, that success is far more of a financial one than a critical one, and some 27 years later, it's pretty clear why reviewers weren't so kind to it.

Dune: Prophecy is an ensemble series with actors from various backgrounds. Telling the story of the creation of the Bene Gesserit, the show features a leading cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Travis Fimmel, and Jodhi May. The Dune franchise show got decent reviews overall, and recently wrapped up its tenure on Max. Earlier this week, Dune: Prophecy season 2 was officially confirmed, allowing the creators to continue the space-set story.
The primary cast members in the show are women, but Australian-born cast member Fimmel is one with an interesting career history. He has been on TV before, perhaps most notably playing Ragnar Lothbrok in the TV series Vikings. In addition to Vikings, Fimmel's career has included playing the titular jungle-dweller in the 2003 TV series adaptation of Tarzan, as well as a role in the series The Beast. Bridgit Mendler once led the cast of Good Luck Charlie and has had a lucrative post-Disney Channel career, with a hint of narrative irony. The beloved family sitcom holds its own against the best Disney Channel original TV shows, depicting Mendler's Teddy Duncan and her family following the unexpected birth of their fourth child. The hook of the series is that Teddy embarks on a project of recording a video diary of advice for her baby sister Charlie (Mia Talerico), with the help of their brothers Gabe (Bradley Steven Perry) and Pj (Jason Dolley).
A recent reunion among some of the Good Luck Charlie cast on Twitch streamer Kai Cenat's "Mafiathon 2" event did not include Mendler, despite her prominence in the series (via People). Meanwhile, other actors who once starred in Good Luck Charlie's contemporary TV shows have only been getting bigger, including the likes of Zendaya and Zac Efron.

A live-action Masters of the Universe movie is in the works at Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films, and Deadline reports that the project has found its Skeletor in Jared Leto, along with a few of Skeletor’s henchmen.
Masters of the Universe has now been set for theatrical release on June 5, 2026, with Travis Knight (Bumblebee) on board to direct He-Man’s return to the big screen.
Joining Leto as Skeletor are Sam C. Wilson (House of the Dragon) as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson (The Northman) as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah (In the Grey) as Tri-Klops. Rounding out the villains is Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s second-in-command to be played by Alison Brie.
Deadline reminds of the henchmen’s skillset, “Trap Jaw is a recurring villain in the franchise, known for his cybernetic enhancements and versatile weaponry. Goat Man is a minor villain known for his goat-like appearance and association with Skeletor’s forces,...

It's so hard to pick a favorite "Hellboy" story, whether comics or movies. The hero's signature tale is "The Corpse," a 24-page comic from 1996 drawn and plotted by Hellboy's creator Mike Mignola. In 1950s Ireland, Hellboy discovers a couple's baby has been swapped with a fairy named Gruagach. To get little Alice Monaghan back, the Sidhe dare Hellboy to bury a talking corpse in holy ground by sunrise.
This is the sort of spooky "occult investigator" story that Mignola intended "Hellboy" to be. He created Hellboy after drawing the Batman comic "Sanctum" (where Batman chases a criminal through a graveyard) and wanting to make more stories like that. But he didn't want to get complacent, either.
In 2001, Mignola concluded the "Hellboy" mini-series "Conqueror Worm" by having his hero leave the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (Bprd). He wanted to shake things up by having Hellboy leave his "day job,...

Mads Mikkelsen has been playing villains for most of his career. Be it in James Bond, Marvel, or Indiana Jones, that actor has certainly been giving heroes a run for their money with his excellent antagonistic skills. With this, moving from a villain to an anti-hero wasn’t a big stretch for the actor.

In 2019, Mikkelsen starred in Polar, which followed the best assassin in the world’s attempt to retire, only to be turned into a target by his former employer. There is no denying that the film is somewhat reminiscent of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick. However, there is one huge aspect that makes it different from it.
One that could be interesting enough to drive its very own sequel that could do much better than the original.
