Huma Qureshi Leads Police Drama ‘Bayaan’ at Busan’s Asian Project Market

Huma Qureshi (“Gangs of Wasseypur”) stars in “Bayaan,” (The Testimony) a police drama that has wrapped shooting and is participating in Busan’s Asian Project Market.

The film is directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, whose debut feature “Chauranga” won accolades at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and the Mumbai Film Festival. It is a co-production between Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon One Films, Madhu Sharma’s Summit Studios and producers Kunal Kumar and Anshuman Singh. Bora is known for backing films like “Newton” (India’s 2018 Oscar entry) and “Picasso” (Prime Video India’s first Marathi-language direct-to-digital acquisition).

The film centers on a female detective investigating her first case as lead investigator in a small Rajasthan town. She faces significant challenges due to her opponent’s deep-rooted influence within the system, while also striving to live up to her father’s legendary reputation in law enforcement.

Huma Qureshi, Chandrachur Singh to Star in ‘Bayaan’ From Indian Indie Stalwarts Bikas Mishra and Shiladitya Bora (Exclusive)

Indian indie producer Shiladitya Bora is set to begin production on “Bayaan,” a new drama featuring Huma Qureshi and Chandrachur Singh. The film, by writer-director Bikas Mishra (“Chauranga”), is slated to start shooting this month in Rajasthan.

Additional cast members include Sachin Khedekar (“Sita Ramam”), Avijit Dutt (“Piku”), Shampa Mandal, Priti Shukla, Vibhor Mayank and Aditi Kanchan Singh.

“Bayaan” is a co-production between Bora’s Platoon One Films, Madhu Sharma’s Summit Studios, and producers Kunal Kumar and Anshuman Singh. The project has received support from the International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Hubert Bals Fund and was developed at the LA Residency, part of Film Independent’s Global Media Makers program.

During his time at the residency, Mishra received mentorship from Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”) and script advice from writer Jeff Stockwell and story editor Ruth Atkinson.

India Pavilion at Cannes to commence on May 13

The India pavilion at Festival de Cannes organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) will be inaugurated on Thursday, 13th May 2010. Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India,  Raghu Menon will inaugurate the official pavilion in the presence of other dignitaries.

The Indian Pavilion will run at the 63rd Cannes Film festival scheduled from 13-24 May, 2010 in France. The theme for the pavilion this year is "India: destination of Creative & Production Out-sourcing" and "India: emerging global capital of Animation & Special-effect".

India Pavilion will also host workshops on subjects like visual Co- Production Agreements, Ipr & Copyright Regime, Iffi Goa, India: The Emerging Animation Hub, Digital Platforms, Required Cinemas and Parallel Cinema.
