Exclusive: Chris Rock’s animated series Everybody Still Hates Chris is lining up the stars.

The series, which is set to premiere on Comedy Central on September 25, has unveiled a swathe of guest stars including Ayo Edebiri, Sally Jessy Raphael and Busta Rhymes.

Earthquake’s 2022 Netflix special, Chappelle’s Home Team – Legendary: Earthquake, was the first comedy special produced by Dave Chappelle that was not his own. His second comedy special for Netflix, also produced by Chappelle, is forthcoming.

Earthquake has also over the years been seen in countless films and TV series — most recently, Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy Unfrosted for Netflix, and Cedric The Entertainer’s CBS sitcom The Neighborhood. Currently, he can be seen in Johnson for Bounce, and he will soon reprise his Everybody Hates Chis role of Uncle Mike in the animated series Everybody Still Hates Chris on Comedy Central.

Jerry Seinfeld’s Unfrosted is as much about its cameos as it is about Kellogg’s iconic breakfast pastry. Who needs punchlines when you can create a litany of “Hey, that’s Comedian XYZ!” moments. Bill Burr, Mikey Day, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, Patrick Warburton, Cedric the Entertainer, Sebastian Maniscalco, Earthquake, Jack McBrayer — that’s hardly scratching the surface of the “blink or you’ll miss ‘em” moments provided by Seinfeld’s directorial debut.

You can catch several of the cameos in the movie’s trailer, but one in particular was kept a secret — the pitch from a couple of mad men at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. But Jon Hamm, a guy who is normally game for any comedy from Saturday Night Live to Between Two Ferns: The Movie, wasn’t sure bringing back Don Draper to pitch Pop-Tarts was a good idea. “I was of two minds,” Hamm told The Hollywood Reporter.

John Mulaney’s wildly chaotic six-episode run of Everybody’s In LA featured old punks, phone-ins and just about every top comedian in the states.

But the show, which ran for six episodes around the Netflix Is A Joke Festival between May 3 and May 10, was originally designed as a variety show. “I wanted everyone to go make what they wanted and I will put it on. We can’t get renewed. We should actually be a variety show,” he said.

Mulaney was asked why he wanted to make a show that was largely difficult? He said that Netflix approached him as they wanted to do something live across the comedy festival but weren’t entirely sure what. “One idea they had was stand-up at the Geffen Theater. For director, co-writer and star Jerry Seinfeld, “Unfrosted” was an opportunity to bring something a little less serious to the entertainment zeitgeist. A humorless life without the ability to make fun of ourselves, he postured, doesn’t make for “good living.”

“Don’t give up laughing and humor and comedy in your life. It’s the best way to get through life,” Seinfeld said. “We all want to not hurt each other’s feelings. But if we go too far, and nobody can make fun of anybody, that’s not good living.”

“Unfrosted” is a fictionalized account of the creation of the Kellogg’s staple Pop-Tarts. The plot takes a “space race” approach, with Post Cereal as the other heavyweight in the fight to be the first to craft the toasted pastry treat.

Netflix is bringing back its “Netflix Is a Joke Fest,” which so far has lined up more than 300 live events across 35 venues in Los Angeles. The event, last held in 2022, will include Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, Nate Bargatze and Sebastian Maniscalco in a night of comedy at the Hollywood Bowl; also holding stand-up shows there are Bill Burr, John Mulaney, Seth Rogen, Matt Rife, Kevin Hart, Trevor Noah and a joint show with Taylor Tomlinson, Sarah Silverman, Nikki Glaser and Michelle Buteau.

Netflix produces the festival with Live Nation; this year’s event will take place from May 2 to May 12, 2024. Exclusive: A new take on the classic Hollywood Squares game show is headed to VH1. The network has teamed with Jesse Collins Entertainment and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat on Celebrity Squares, a modern twist on the classic format featuring Black pop culture trivia.

Hosted by actor and comedian DC Young Fly, “the series will bring cultural icons together for 20 fun and spontaneous half-hour episodes,” per VH1. Celebrity guests include Babyface, Bobby Brown, Tiffany Haddish, Kirk Franklin, Bresha Webb, Luenell, Taye Diggs and more. Celebrity Squares premieres at 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, on VH1.

Dave Chappelle wrapped his four-show stint in New York City to celebrate his 50th birthday with famous friends, including John Mayer, Busta Rhymes, Common, T.I. and Pete Davidson, who said he just finished rehab.

Davidson and fellow comedian Michael Che, both New Yorkers, took in the thrill of performing for a sold-out crowd at the famed Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. Both said they were proud of the moment and proud to celebrate Chappelle, whose birthday was Thursday.

Davidson won over the audience with his jokes, saying he arrived in NYC on Saturday after completing a stint in rehab. The Saturday Night Live star joked about his drug use, saying doing drugs as a 30-year-old — he hits the milestone in November — would no longer be cute.

Deadline broke the news late last night that Dave Chappelle was attacked by a man while onstage at the Hollywood Bowl. Today, the comedian and Netflix, which produced the festival of which the show was a part, both issued press statements on the matter.

A Chappelle spokesperson sought to put the emphasis back on the comedian’s run of shows at the Bowl as part of the Neflix Is a Joke Festival.

“Dave Chappelle celebrated four nights of comedy and music, setting record-breaking sales for a comedian at the Hollywood Bowl,” read the statement. “This run ties Chappelle with Monty Python for the most headlined shows by any comedian at the Hollywood Bowl, reaching 70k fans of diverse backgrounds during the first Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival, and he refuses to allow last night’s incident to overshadow the magic of this historic moment.”

Netflix has issued a statement after Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage while performing a comedy set during the streaming giant’s Netflix Is a Joke festival in Los Angeles. The performance was taking place at the Hollywood Bowl. A spokesperson for the streamer said, “We care deeply about the safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without fear of violence.”

Video footage circulated during Chappelle’s comedy set showing a man rushing on to the stage and tackling the performer to the ground. Chappelle has been performing a number of dates at the Hollywood Bowl in the last month. The attacker was seen getting up and trying to run off stage before he was caught and tackled by what appeared to be security personnel and members of Chappelle’s team.

Dave Chappelle, whose 2021 Netflix comedy special “The Closer” set of a firestorm of criticism for its trans-phobic content, is mostly behind the scenes on his latest Netflix project: “Chappelle’s Home Team,” a series of four stand-alone comedy specials, with the first premiering on Feb. 28.

Netflix announced Friday that Chappelle serves as executive producer of the “Chappelle’s Home Team” specials, featuring comedians chosen and spotlighted by the “Chappelle’s Show” creator. Chappelle — who is also set to appear at Netflix’s “Netflix Is a Joke” stand-up comedy festival in April — will appear in each installment to introduce the veteran comics, all of whom have been in the business for more than 30 years.

The first comedian to be featured is Earthquake, and he stars in a special titled “Earthquake Legendary.” According to a statement, “Earthquake shakes up the stage and delivers aftershocks while going in hard on health as wealth, prostate cancer and disciplining kids.

Dave Chappelle will executive produce four new stand-alone comedy specials featuring comics personally selected by him as part of his Chappelle’s Home Team series for Netflix.

The first special will spotlight D.C. comic Earthquake (The Neighborhood), premiering on February 28. Donnell Rawlings, one of Chappelle’s longtime collaborators, will host the second special in the series on a future date.

The Neighborhood star will be joined by fellow comics Chris Tucker, Adele Givens, Spice Adams, Corey Holcomb, D.L. Hughley and Luenell for the livestream on Sunday, April 5, Cedric’s team said in a press release.

‘Things Blowing Up Good’ has been surefire entertainment since the beginning of cinema, but this ill-fated Cinerama extravaganza about the biggest explosion in recorded human history limps along despite some pretty darned impressive volcanic effects. It’s quite an entertaining spectacle, with various good performers in three soap opera plots, either overacting or loitering about with nothing to do. And don’t forget the from-left-field musical striptease.

While every film aficionado and their mother seem to know about major film festivals like Sundance, Cannes, Toronto and New York, some of the year’s most interesting films make their first real splash at festivals and series with a much smaller reach. In New York alone various series like New Directors/New Films, The Art Of The Real and the recent New York Asian Film Festival have become home to some of any given year’s most interesting, thought provoking and genuinely exciting pieces of work. And now we have the 10th edition of the much lauded Japan Cuts series.

Marking this special anniversary with a lineup of roughly 30 features and 20 shorts, the festival is currently running from July 14-24 at Japan Society in New York City, and with a blend of new and repertory screenings, this lineup is one of the most dense and diverse in recent memory.

Earthquake had an HBO special as part of the series One Night Stand, which first aired on August 26, 2005. He also had a small role in Kevin Smith's film Clerks II, released in July 2006. He has a recurring role as Chris' Uncle Mike, on Everybody Hates Chris.

The comedian spent eleven years in the military, but was honorably discharged when he refused to be a combatant in the Gulf War. He once claimed he dropped a nuclear missile on the floor while in the Air Force because he was ina rush to catch a 2 Live Crew show.

ABC and CBS stayed on the laugh track Friday with pickups of comedy pilots starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, comedian Earthquake and Aisha Tyler. ABC gave pilot presentation orders to an untitled sitcom starring Hewitt and an untitled comedy starring Earthquake, both from Touchstone TV, while CBS greenlighted an untitled Warner Bros. TV project toplined by Tyler. The untitled Earthquake project, a co-production with Tollin/Robbins Prods., is loosely based on Earthquake's experiences. It centers on a father of four (Earthquake) and self-proclaimed unluckiest man alive who tries to make ends meet with his wife. Les Fierstein penned the pilot and is executive producing with David Himelfarb, David Goldman and TRP's Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola.
