‘Dead Outlaw’ Announces Broadway Closing
Image
Dead Outlaw will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, June 29, producers announced today.

The critically lauded musical, nominated for seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, opened at the Longacre Theatre on Sunday, April 27. When it closes it will have played 14 previews and 73 regular performances.

Dead Outlaw is the third Broadway show, following Smash and Real Women Have Curves, to announce its closing after being shut out at the Tonys.

With music and lyrics by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna, and a book by Itamar Moses, Dead Outlaw tells the strange-but-true tale of Elmer McCurdy, a bank robber killed in a shoot-out in 1911. His embalmed corpse went unclaimed and was put on display, sometimes mistaken for a mannequin, in various carnivals, wax museums and even amusement parks until the 1970s.

In a statement, producers Lia Vollack and Sonia Friedman said, “Like Elmer McCurdy, Dead Outlaw is a true outlier — strange,...

‘A Christmas Carol’ becomes first holiday show to win at Tony Awards
Image
“A Christmas Carol” has won a whopping five Tony Awards. It swept the design categories for plays, winning costume, lighting, scenic and sound. It also prevailed for Best Score. This marks the first time a Christmas themed production has ever won at the Tonys. So not only is it the first Christmas-time winner, it’s the first such play to take home multiple awards!

This latest adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel was written by Jack Thorne (“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”) and directed by Matthew Warchus. The cast featured Campbell Scott as Ebenezer Scrooge, a role that his father George C. Scott played to great acclaim in a film version. Additional cast members included Andrea Martin as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Lachanze as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Dashiell Eaves as Bob Crachitt. The play was nominated for a total of five Tony Awards.

A Christmas Carol (2019)
‘A Christmas Carol’ Broadway Review: Campbell Scott, Andrea Martin & Lachanze Raise The Spirits In Vivid Telling
A Christmas Carol (2019)
There’s an abundance of treats offered by director Matthew Warchus’ staging of A Christmas Carol – like Andrea Martin dressed as a Victorian caroler mingling with the audience at Broadway Lyceum Theatre, handing out Clementines and cookies before curtain – but perhaps the best is the revelation that the Dickens chestnut can still inspire such a vibrant, compassionate and timely telling.

Adapted by playwright Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), and starring Campbell Scott as Scrooge, Martin and Lachanze as the Ghosts of Christmas Past and Present, respectively, this Carol (with different casts) has become something of a holiday tradition at London’s Old Vic. Broadway should be so lucky.

With a few moments of immersive theater – a feast in Act II cleverly and playfully makes its way to the (imagined) threadbare Cratchit home in a delightful manner than won’t be spoiled here – this Carol is presented on a dreamlike,...

Andrea Martin
Andrea Martin, Lachanze Join Campbell Scott In Broadway’s Upcoming ‘A Christmas Carol’
Andrea Martin
Andrea Martin and Lachanze will join the previously announced Campbell Scott in this holiday season’s Broadway production of A Christmas Carol, an adaptation of the Dickens classic by playwright Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and director Matthew Warchus (Matilda The Musical).

Martin will play the Ghost of Christmas Past, while Lachanze will portray the Ghost of Christmas Present (and pull double duty as Mrs. Fezziwig).

Complete casting for the production was announced today. A Christmas Carol begins previews at the Lyceum Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 7, with opening night set for Wednesday, Nov. 20. The strictly limited engagement runs through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.

The holiday show will mark Martin’s first Broadway appearance since she was forced to pull out of Taylor Mac’s Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus this past march following a home accident that left her with four broken ribs.

In addition to Martin, Lachanze and Scott (who plays Scrooge), the production will feature Erica Dorfler as Mrs. Cratchit; Dashiell Eaves (A Behanding in Spokane) as Bob Cratchit; Hannah Elless as Jess; Brandon Gill (Holler if Ya Hear Me) as Fred; Evan Harrington as Fezziwig; Chris Hoch as Father/Marley; Sarah Hunt (The Last Ship) as Belle; Matthew Labanca as Nicholas; Alex Nee (Once) as Ferdy; Dan Piering, in his Broadway debut, as Young Ebenezer/George; and Rachel Prather (The Band’s Visit) as Little Fan. Sebastian Ortiz and Jai Ram Srinivasan will share the role of Tiny Tim.

The production will be produced on Broadway by Tom Smedes, Heather Shields, ShowTown Productions, and Catherine Schreiber, Peter Stern, Xin Wen, Jack Lane/Seth Goldstein, Dan Stone, Nancy Gibbs/Joseph Longthorne, Chase Thomas/Mia Moravis, Brian Mutert & Derek Perrigo/Gary & Reenie Heath, Walport Productions, David Treatman/42nd.club, Bkl Productions/S+D Theatricals, J. Scott & Sylvia G. Bechtel, with Associate Producers Peter Cusick and Sammy Lopez.

Harvey Dent And The Dollmaker Arrive In New Gotham Images
See Full Gallery Here

A batch of new images from Gotham‘s strangely-titled upcoming episode, “Everyone Has A Cobblepot,” have appeared online, showing the return of young Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent – played by Masters of Sex alum Nicholas D’Agosto – and the debut of the creepy serial killer known as the Dollmaker.

The Borgias and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor Colm Feore was cast as the Dollmaker (or in this case, Dr. Dulmacher) late last month, and based on the episode’s synopsis, he’s the one behind the creepy organ donation ring that Fish Mooney was recently caught up in, which makes sense considering he was attached to child smuggling earlier in the season as well.

Check out the new Gotham episode synopsis below, and be sure to tune in when “Everyone Has a Cobblepot” airs on March 2nd, 2015.

While Gordon seeks information about the recent controversy with Commissioner Loeb,...
