Biography

    • After studying with Actors Studio member Eli Rill in Toronto, Richard debuted on stage as Paul Bratter in Barefoot in the Park. He was next cast as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire, calling upon his parents' Polish roots to inhabit the iconic role. The director of Barefoot in the Park was a fan of Konstantin Stanislavski, and Richard fell in love with the craft. When his parents divorced, his mother moved to New York, and Richard followed. Two weeks later, he became an understudy in Entertaining Mr. Sloane at The Cherry Lane. The lead actor won the starring role in Grease II, and Richard's debut was as Mr. Sloane. He moved to Los Angeles and started his L.A. career onstage in The Fox, winning a Drama-Logue Performance Award. After many TV appearances, he won the role of Brick Wallace in the new hit NBC Daytime Drama Santa Barbara, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination. Another production of Streetcar in Los Angeles won him his second Drama-Logue Performance Award, this time for Stanley Kowalski. Here, he met his wife-to-be, Shannon Hile, who played Stella.

Richard played Alex Murphy in the television series RoboCop-- remaining loyal to Santa Barbara and RoboCop fans. He and his wife, Shannon, have television and feature writing projects. They are managed by John-Paul Sarni. Richard is a member of the Pacific Resident Theatre. He is a black Belt in Taekwondo and studied at the Inosanto Academy.
