An Evilstar is reuniting with the show's creators for a new series on CBS. Evil originally aired on CBS before moving to streaming on Paramount+. Ahead of a potential season 5, Paramount+ canceled Evil, which was met with a deeply divisive reception.

Those involved with the show and the enthusiastic fan base expressed disappointment about the show's premature cancellation, and that there was still a great deal left to explore in future seasons that now would not come to fruition.

However, as per Variety, Evil star Mike Colter is now reuniting with creators Robert and Michelle King after signing onto their new CBS show Cupertino. The "David vs. Goliath legal drama" set in Silicon Valley has not been officially greenlit yet by CBS, but it is in development. As seen in an Instagram post from Evil star Asif Mandvi, the core cast members of the hit horror series can be seen gathered together for what Mandvi promised was "an amazing dinner." When Mandvi reposted the picture on Threads, he did so with a caption promising fans that "Even though we don't make the show anymore, we do sit around and talk about it endlessly."

Created by Robert and Michelle King, Evil premiered on CBS in 2019 and quickly found a foothold with a fervent fan base who had long been looking for a new horror series to latch on to. The series starred Katja Herbers as Doctor Kristen Bouchard, a forensic psychologist who works closely with former war journalist and Catholic priest-in-training David Acosta, portrayed by Mike Colter.

The Critics Choice Association (Cca) has officially announced the nominees for the 5th Annual Critics Choice Super Awards, celebrating excellence in fan-favorite genres including Action, Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, and Horror across both film and television. Set to be revealed on August 7, 2025, this year’s honors spotlight blockbuster hits like Deadpool & Wolverine and Thunderbolts, both leading the film categories with six nominations each.

Identifying our favorite shows is a long process that consists of different factors, like how something looks, how it makes us feel, and how it relates to us personally. Individual interest plays a massive role in the stuff we fill our houses with, and even more to do with the things that occupy precious space in our noggins. You can believe something is vitally important, and a person standing right next to you can wonder why we should care about this random thing. Television history is littered with shows that felt like massive parts of people's weekly entertainment time, but ended up being cut short ahead of their planned endings. This is exactly what happened to "Person of Interest" over on CBS, and it turns out the fan-favorite was just a little bit too expensive compared to some of the other programming bets the network made in 2016.

The ending of the popular Paramount+ original series leaves the door just open enough for a potential Evil season 5, with Kristen (Katja Herbers) and David (Mike Colter) beginning a new chapter in Rome. But despite acclaim and strong viewership, with its availability on Netflix, the show did not receive a last-minute renewal.

CBS will submit 25 performers from Elsbeth Season 2 for Emmy consideration, Gold Derby has learned.

That includes the three series regulars — Carrie Preston as quirky investigator Elsbeth Tascioni, Wendell Pierce as police captain Charles Wallace, and Carra Patterson as police officer-turned-detective Kaya Blanke — plus 22 famous guest stars who made an impact during the show's sophomore year.

New images from the Elsbeth season 2 finale confirm the return of several guest stars, previewing a musical moment. Already confirmed to be returning for Elsbeth season 3, the light CBS procedural largely gains its focus from welcoming familiar actors to play impulsive murderers. They share the screen with Emmy winner Carrie Preston, as the titular Elsbeth Tascioni, until they crack under the pressure for one reason or another. A few of those familiar actors will be reprising their roles for the upcoming finale.

The Elsbeth season two finale is a who’s who of returning guest stars. And to top it off, the finale will feature a “musical number tribute to Chicago’s “Cell Block Tango.” Season two episode 20 was directed by Lionel Coleman and will air on CBS on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 9pm Et/Pt.

“Ramen Holiday” Plot: Elsbeth finds herself in prison with some of the same high-class criminals she put away. When one of them is stabbed to death, Elsbeth sets out to find the killer’s killer, while her colleagues back at the precinct fight to get her released, on the season two finale.

Returning guest stars include Stephen Moyer, Retta, Gina Gershon, Elizabeth Lail, Arian Moayed, André De Shields, Alyssa Milano, and Mary-Louise Parker.

Exclusive: Tonight’s episode of Elsbeth revealed the shocking news that a popular character has been promoted as the actress makes a change in casting. Carra Patterson, who has played Officer Kaya Blanke since Season 1, will return as a guest star indefinitely, as we reported earlier this evening.

Patterson shared with Deadline, “My character, Kaya Blanke, is embarking on a new adventure as the story continues to unfold, and I am excited to do the same. But we will see Kaya again – fans will find out what she’s been up to in her new role as ‘Detective’ next season when I come back to guest star and play with Carrie and Wendell. I am beyond grateful to the cast, crew, and producers, and of course, the fans, for all the love and support.

Throughout a good chunk of Elsbeth Season 2, the titular lawyer has made it her mission to prove that Michael Emerson's Judge Crawford killed Andy Mertens and framed his girlfriend, Delia, for his death. 

Season 2's latest episode doubled down on Elsbeth's efforts to take down Crawford while also showing the shady judge's backstory and motivation behind targeting Mertens. 

A flashback showed a young Milton Crawford murdering a girl named Sherry inside a country club pool, and the only witness is Andy Mertens. While Crawford managed to convince young Andy to stay silent about his gruesome act, an adult Andy eventually reached out anonymously to the Senate Judiciary Committee to report him, prompting Crawford to kill him.

Carrie Preston is speaking out following that death in the latest episode of her CBS series Elsbeth.

The new episode “I Know What You Did Thirty-Three Summers Ago,” the 18th episode of season two, aired on Thursday night (April 24) and featured the death of a recurring character.

Carrie noted that the events of this episode will send Elsbeth into a dark place.

“It is our most dramatic episode of the whole series so far, and I think it is an important episode because of that,” she told Variety. “We are going to see how it is that she overcomes it, because it does knock her off her feet and it really sends her into a darker place that we haven’t seen before.”

You can pick your jaw up off the floor now. The Elsbeth episode is over, and like you, TV Fanatic is utterly in shock. I don’t care how intuitive you are — No One saw that twist coming.

Just wow. It’s common knowledge that the best way to create a captivating story is to supersede viewer expectations. There’s no better way to do that than by completely turning the story on its head.

Much like Elsbeth at the end of “I Know What You Did Thirty-Three Summers Ago,” we feel like we’re in an alternate reality where nothing makes sense.
