All 5 upcoming Harlan Coben Netflix adaptations, ranked by anticipation
Image
Thanks to Harlan Coben and Netflix's continuing collaboration, we've been treated to a series of gripping adaptations that have kept audiences hooked with their mix of mystery, drama, and pulse-pounding suspense. This year alone, we've seen the release of three new series adaptations of Coben's books, such as Missing You, Just One Look and Caught. While it's unclear if we'll see any more releases on Netflix this year, there are still a bunch of highly anticipated projects in the pipeline.

Currently, five new adaptations have been confirmed. Netflix has already announced plans to adapt Coben’s Myron Bolitar book series, along with his novels I Will Find You and Run Away into original series. Additionally, Coben's mystery thriller Win is in development as either a series or a film, and his novel Six Years is being adapted into a Netflix original movie.

How ‘Miss Austen’ Draws Fine Art from an Act of Real-Life Cultural Vandalism
Image
Beating Netflix’s (entirely unnecessary) remake of “Pride and Prejudice,” the BBC’s spinoff “The Other Bennet Sister” and French rom-com “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” to the proverbial punch, the 250th birthday celebrations of arguably Britain’s most cherished novelist begins with a four-part drama focusing on her elder sister.

For many literary scholars, Cassandra Austen is a villainess of Miss Norris-esque proportions. After all, her deliberate burning of her sibling’s vast personal correspondence — only 160 of her approximately 3,000 letters are still intact — largely thwarted any attempt to further understand the famously elusive author. However, “Miss Austen,” itself based on Gill Hornby’s same-named piece of historical fiction, does its best to exonerate her reputation as a cultural vandal.

The BBC original certainly comes with an impressive period drama pedigree. Director Aisling Walsh won a BAFTA for her post-war miniseries “Room at the Top,” while leading lady Keeley Hawes...

Previous, Jan. 21: Masterpiece on PBS has released the first trailer for Miss Austen, ahead of its May 4 premiere.

The Couple Next Door season 1 is over and season 2 is happening - but there's a catch
Image
If you were hoping for more of The Couple Next Door on Starz today, we're sorry to say that the season is over. The finale was released last week on Feb. 21 with episode 6, "Crimes of Passion." It was a pretty anticlimactic end to the story if I'm being honest. But, here we are.

That does mean that there is no episode 7, as well as no more new episodes going forward since season 1 was only six total. Perhaps you enjoyed the show more than me, which is great. So if you're looking forward to more, the good news is that The Couple Next Door season 2 is happening. However, there's a catch.

The Biggest Differences In Ginny Weasley Between The Harry Potter Books & Movies
Image
I completely understand that adapting a beloved book series for the big screen is a difficult and precarious task, especially when you're talking about the "Harry Potter" novels written by Joanne Kathleen Rowling. The seven books, which span a couple thousand pages and covers the life of the boy wizard named Harry Potter (played in the film franchise by Daniel Radcliffe), are massive and chock-full of lore, building the Wizarding World brick by brick and introducing everything from wand types to wizarding currency to magical slang. When it comes to the film adaptations, which were helmed by a collection of directors, the creative team did a pretty phenomenal job for the most part ... but one huge issue is the character of Ginny Weasley, played by Bonnie Wright.

I don't want to speak ill of Wright, but the bottom line here is that the young actor — who appears in all eight movies as Ginny,...

Interview: Eleanor Tomlinson and Alfred Enoch break down that dramatic event in The Couple Next Door episode 3
Image
The Couple Next Door episode 3, "Blurring Boundaries," saw the story take a dramatic turn. Though we all knew where this tale was headed, and waiting for it to happen. If you haven't watched the episode on Starz yet, please be aware that there are spoilers below!

Courtesy of Starz

So as we all see, the passionate night that's been teased happens in this week's episode of the psychological thriller. Though, it's not exactly how I thought everything would go down. I thought it would be more of a foursome situation. I guess the attraction Evie has towards Danny is stronger than we thought, because she's the one who suggests couple switching.

In an exclusive interview with Show Snob, Evie actress Eleanor Tomlinson and Pete's Alfred Enoch tell us a bit more about their characters' headspace and motivations, or lack thereof, during this eventful night.

"I think for Evie, a lot...

These are the 6 Harlan Coben shows in the works
Image
Harlan Coben has become a key creator of Netflix shows, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon! Here’s a look at what other shows based on the author’s works are coming to the streamer.

Since 1990, Harlan Coben has become a bestselling author known for twisty crime thrillers and dramas that often involve exploring the secrets buried behind seemingly idyllic families and neighborhoods. That includes the Myron Bolitar series and scores of stand-alone novels.

Not surprisingly, there have been some adaptations of Coben’s works, such as Prime Video’s short-lived Shelter. However, in 2018, Coben signed a deal with Netflix which has since produced eight limited series based on his various novels. The latest, Missing You, debuted on January 1, 2025.

However, that’s far from the last project coming to the streamer. Here’s 6 Harlan Coben shows that are in the works and coming to Netflix (and actually...

Image
The Wizarding World is about to get a new wave of magic with HBO's highly anticipated Harry Potter TV reboot, and it's probably a safe bet that some familiar faces will be returning to Hogwarts, but in new roles than those which they previously played. One of those actors who has expressed interest in stepping back into the hallowed halls is Alfred Enoch, who portrayed Dean Thomas in the original Harry Potter films. Only this time, he's eyeing up some professorial robes instead, as he told ScreenRant while promoting his upcoming Starz thriller The Couple Next Door.

Next Harlan Coben Netflix show will be missing a fan-favorite star
Image
For the first time in a long time, Richard Armitage will not be starring in the next Harlan Coben Netflix show.

Netflix just revealed the cast of Run Away, the next of the Harlan Coben Netflix shows. While there are a few who have starred in other Harlan Coben Netflix shows, including James Nesbitt, in the cast, it's notably missing a key player from many of those shows: Armitage.

According to Netflix, Armitage will not be in Run Away. Instead, Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, and Ruth Jones will star in the upcoming thriller based on Coben's book of the same name.

Regarding Armitage's absence in Run Away, Coben told Netflix: “I'm sure we'll work together again in the future.”

In addition to Nesbitt, Driver, Enoch, and Jones, the rest of the cast includes Jon Pointing, Lucian Msamati, Ellie de Lange, Adrian Greensmith, Ellie Henry, Joe McGann, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Amy Gledhill,...

New Harlan Coben series 'Run Away' will have fantastic cast
Image
Harlan Coben's next series on Netflix will be Run Away. The eight-episode series will be based on Coben's book from 2019. And just like with everything else Coben, you know you are going to want to see it. The recently announced cast will certainly make that a possibility.

The plot involves a father, Simon, whose eldest daughter, Paige, runs away. Simon searches for her (of course!) but finds her high on drugs in a city park. The story does not end there, though. Simon thinks Paige is alone, but she isn't, and violence ensues. He loses his daughter all over again, and his new search for her sends him into an underworld that could tear their family apart.

But who is playing Simon and who is playing Paige? That is what you really want to know, right? Good news! We now know all that information.

Minnie Driver Among 16 Cast for Harlan Coben's Next Netflix Series After Missing You
Image
Thriller author Harlan Coben signed a multi-million-dollar deal with streaming service Netflix in August 2018, which would grant the giant the rights to 14 of its novels over the course of five years. Since then, the deal has been extended as the adaptations, which were turned into limited series, have proven to be major successes.

Following the recent success of the latest addition, Missing You, Netflix has announced the cast for the latest adaptation. Run Away was announced in January 2024 alongside Missing You, and it will feature a cast filled with famous names. Per Tudum, Good Will Hunting's Minnie Driver will be joined by 15 other familiar names.

The Couple Next Door Review: I Wanted To Like Starz's Domestic Thriller But It Kept Losing Focus
Image
The Couple Next Door attempts to lure us in with a thrilling tale of secrecy and distrust, only to overload on hollow tensions. While the drama is great, there is far too much going on in the six-episode series for anything to stand out, but the acting is decent and the chemistry among the cast is fluid. However, the result is a muddled thriller series that races to a convoluted end.

Based on the Dutch television series New Neighbors, The Couple Next Door is a dramatic thriller series created for Starz. When Evie and her boyfriend, Pete, move in to a new neighborhood and meet their new neighbors, Danny and Becka, an affair begins between Evie and Danny. However, secrets lie buried deep, and Evie's new affair may unearth one too many.

The Couple Next Door Premiere Recap: Sex, Suburbia and Sam Heughan Blend for Flighty Fun

Remember that Saturday Night Live parent-teacher conference sketch from a few years back? If it were set in England, Sudeikis’ character had a free-spirit wife, and guns were somehow involved, you’d essentially have the premiere of The Couple Next Door.

The psychological thriller’s first season aired in its entirety in the United Kingdom in 2023, but its first episode debuted on Starz Friday, allowing fans of the network’s time-travel romance, Outlander, to watch leading man Sam Heughan — he stars in both series — sport period-drama breeks and motorcycle leathers all within a two-hour span.

‘The Couple Next Door’ Cast Explain Why the Drama Isn’t as ‘Black & White as You May Think’
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Couple Next Door, Season 1 Episode 1, “Welcome to Suburbia.”] The Couple Next Door has finally arrived on Starz and it feels as though a ticking time bomb is about to go off in suburbia as couple Danny (Sam Heughan) and Becka (Jessica De Gouw) meet newest neighbors, Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch). Danny is a traffic cop and Becka’s a yoga instructor, but they’ve got quite a progressive view when it comes to marriage, agreeing to have an open relationship as long as their extracurricular activities are a group endeavor. That’s quite a leap from the new couple on the block, who have been together since university and are expecting a baby. Things take a startling turn though as Evie, a teacher, is told by one of her students that she can’t feel the baby. This prompts Evie to get a checkup and it...

‘The Couple Next Door’ Review: Sam Heughan Smolders in Starz’s Ludicrous Polyamory Thriller
Image
It takes less than five minutes for Starz and Channel 4’s new six-part series The Couple Next Door to make its first reference to Desperate Housewives.

Pete (Alfred Enoch), a journalist at a struggling newspaper, and Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson), a pregnant primary school teacher, are moving into a cul-de-sac in Leeds. They’re reflecting on a version of suburbia that’s more American, or even fictional American, in nature than British, so the comparison is close to inevitable; Pete looks at the dog-walking, lawn-tending, externally obsessed neighborhood they’re moving into and assumes a communal beneath-the-surface rot that does, indeed, eventually emerge.

It’s the last Desperate Housewives reference in the series because, to put it simply, The Couple Next Door isn’t finally all that much like Desperate Housewives, especially the top-tier early seasons of Desperate Housewives that one might want to be compared to. The adaptation of a Dutch format — Nieuwe Buren,...

‘The Couple Next Door’ Starz Review: Steamy Thriller Leaves All The Juicy Bits For The End
Image
You know, sometimes you just want to watch a show and completely immerse yourself in something that doesn’t need you to use your brain at all. While chick flicks are the general go-to for such moments, I’d like to argue that the adult thriller is a close second, or maybe an even bigger guilty pleasure. The Couple Next Door brings to reality somebody’s wild dreams in the clunkiest way possible. The show is definitely intriguing, and it starts off pretty good but really loses its way in the middle to give us a rushed and almost unfinished ending. Yes, I said unfinished, but it’s not ambiguous, so no, you won’t be scratching your head; you just have to say, “Meh, just go with it.”

The series tells the story of two violently different married couples who become next-door neighbors when the more conservative of the...

The Couple Next Door parents guide: The psychological thriller is rated TV-ma for a reason
Image
The Couple Next Door starring Outlander's Sam Heughan, Eleanor Tomlinson, Alfred Enoch, and Jessica De Gouw, is now streaming, and the steamy psychological thriller is off to a good start! The first episode is definitely an establishing one where we meet the characters and find out where everyone's headspace is at. At the same time, of course the writers throw in some intriguing secrets and provide little hints at the struggles they're facing.

Even if you haven't had a chance to watch the first episode yet, you've probably seen the trailer and the mature-looking subject matter. It's pretty straightforward and you can guess why the show on Starz is rated TV-ma. This means that the series contains scenes not suitable for those under 17 years old.

Even so, you might be looking for a little more detail to see whether your older teens might be able to watch it, with or without supervision.
