  • Received his bachelor's degree from New York University.
  • Began his decades-spanning career as an NBC Page at 30 Rock.
  • He relocated to Los Angeles in 1967 and eventually worked his way up to producer.
  • His most well known work was the teen sitcom Saved by the Bell which inspired the birth of the TNBC block for his other shows such as California Dreams, Hang Time and City Guys in the 1990s.
  • He was one of the most prolific producers in television with more than 1,000 episodes produced under his banner.
  • He released a memoir titled I Was Saved by the Bell: Stories of Life, Love, and Dreams That Do Come True.
  • A reality television project that Engel executive produced is the NBC reality series Last Comic Standing.
  • Engel was raised Jewish, and converted to Christianity.
  • Peter Engel was an American television producer who is best known for his teen sitcoms that appeared on TNBC, a former Saturday morning block on NBC which featured all teenage-oriented programs for educational purposes.
  • Published his memoir "I Was Saved By The Bell: Stories of Life, Love, and Dreams that Do Come True" in 2016.
