- Besides creating his own characters on and off-Broadway in his days in New York, he understudied Edward Herrmann and went on for him in "Midsummer Night's Dream" at Lincoln Center, understudied Richard Gere and went on for him in "Habeas Corpus" on Broadway, understudied John Glover at The American Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut, stood-by for John Vickery in "Emminent Domain" at Circle in the Square, stood-by for Richard Monnette on Broadway.
- Acting highlights during his years as a New York actor include: his acclaimed performance as Evan in Joe Hindy's "Carnival of Glorie" at St. Clement's Theatre; as Reese Mandel in the comedy "Winning Isn't Everything" at The Hudson Guild Theatre directed by legendary comic director George Abbott; and, as Hamlet in, of course, "Hamlet" at Greenwich House Music School.
- While working on and off-Broadway in New York, he and his band The Prodigal Sons performed his songs and country and folk classics at The Lone Star, Folk City, as well as many other clubs and coffee houses.
- In New York, he worked with Henry Winkler twice: once in "Boccaccio" by Kenneth Cavender at The Manhattan Theatre Club, and the second time in "Incident at Vichy" by Arthur Miller at the Cincinnati Playhouse.
