Back in 2022, we heard that Jeremiah Kipp, who wrote and directed a very cool horror movie called Slapface (available to watch on the Shudder streaming service), had signed on to helm a live-action feature adaptation of the video game The Mortuary Assistant. Now, Deadline reports that Willa Holland (Arrow) and Paul Sparks (House of Cards) have signed on to star in the film, which is currently in production in Missouri.
The Mortuary Assistant is a supernatural first-person horror game that brings players into the world of Mortician Rebecca Owens, who thinks her first night on the job will be embalming a surplus of corpses, though she soon learns a sinister presence resides at River Fields Mortuary. As the dead awaken and malevolent spirits bind themselves to her, Rebecca has to learn how to combat demons (including the figurative demons of her past), in order to survive the night. One of the more terrifying video games in recent memory, The Mortuary Assistant, is getting a feature film adaptation. With filming now underway, Deadline reports that Willa Holland (“Arrow”) and Paul Sparks (“Castle Rock“) will star.
Based on the bestselling game created by Brian Clarke, The Mortuary Assistant follows “Rebecca Owens, a recent mortuary science graduate who takes a night shift job at River Fields Mortuary. Initially, the job seems straightforward — embalming bodies, completing paperwork, and keeping things tidy. But once Rebecca starts working the night shift, things take a dark turn.”
Holland will play Rebecca, with Sparks taking on the role of Raymond Delver, Rebecca’s mortician boss.
The feature adaptation is said to be “a new chapter in the story that will expand on the game’s world and mythology, delving deeper into the lore of the demonic entities plaguing River Fields.”
Tracee Beebe and Brian Clarke adapted the screenplay.

The latest dystopian thriller starring horror icon Devon Sawa is set to release in theaters before going to digital platforms. Mackenzie Donaldson's All the Lost Ones was set to go straight to digital services at first, but Epic Pictures has picked it up for a small theatrical window. The film will now receive a limited release in theaters on April 18, 2025, and four days later — on April 22 — it will be available for digital purchase or rent. This is great news for the relatively small film and also for the film industry at large, as independent features rarely receive theatrical windows — especially in times when streaming has taken such a big role in terms of releasing lesser-known films.
All the Lost Ones had its premiere at the 2024 Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival. Its synopsis describes the film thusly: "In a dystopian and climate-ravaged future America torn apart by civil war, Nia,...

Producer Jason Blum had said the Paranormal Activity franchise went dormant for a while after the release of 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension because he felt the series had gotten tired – and it wasn’t his idea to make Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, a failed attempt at a revival (that he described as “terrible”), back in 2021. He has been open about the fact that he feels there has been “enough already” when it comes to Paranormal Activity movies. But that doesn’t mean the franchise can’t continue in other ways. A few months back, we heard there’s a stage play in development, and now Variety has broken the news that a Paranormal Activity video game will be released in 2026!

For an indie horror movie that went out into the world unrated, Terrifier 2 was a massive hit last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000. And that success has not only paved the way for Terrifier 3, which will have a substantially higher budget and is aiming for a fall 2024 release, but it has also earned a theatrical re-release for its predecessor, the first Terrifier. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting have announced that Terrifier will be playing on around 700 screens as of this Wednesday, July 19th. This is the widest theatrical release Terrifier has ever received and it will be playing for a few days. To see if it will be playing near you, check This Link.

The original Terrifier movie will be coming back to the big screen just in time for the spooky holiday season this year. Per THR, it has been announced that the first Terrifier, released in 2018, is coming back to movie theaters on July 19 where it will be screened in 700 locations, its widest release to date. To help promote the re-release, Dread has released a new red band trailer that teases the film's bloody mayhem, and you can check that out below.
The re-release comes as the result of a collaboration between Dread and Iconic Events, which also worked on the release of Terrifier 2. With the success of the sequel bringing renewed attention to the original Terrifier, it's a great time to bring Art the Clown's first feature film back to theaters. Both movies are helmed by Damien Leone, who has greatly impressed the people at Iconic Events with his work.

Dread and Iconic Events Releasing Strike Deal for Theatrical Re-Release of Terrifier: "Dread, the L.A.-based distribution and financing company Epic Pictures’ specialty horror label, announced today plans to re-release Terrifier, Damien Leone’s 2016 slasher horror — that would lead to the smash box-office hit Terrifier 2 — nationwide in theaters with Iconic Events, who handled the explosively successful rollout of the sequel last year. Terrifier will return to the big screen on July 19, 2023 and play in over 700 theater locations across the U.S.
Following a string of earlier films that first introduced Leone’s now-iconic villain Art the Clown to audiences, Terrifier saw the role first taken by David Howard Thornton, who took up the mantle once again in the film’s breakout sequel, cementing the character’s place in horror canon legacy.
Terrifier stars Thornton alongside Jenna Kanell (Renfield), Samantha Scaffidi, and Catherine Corcoran (Return To Nuke 'Em High...

A new cult favorite with a sequel that had viewers fainting in theaters is set to make a return to the big screen. "Terrifier," the 2016 slasher film by Damien Leone, will be clowning its way back to theaters this summer according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new release is planned as the widest yet for a movie that started off small, initially debuting at the Telluride Horror Show Film Festival before eventually earning a limited release in 2018. Now, though, the horrifying antics of Art The Clown will be on display for a wider audience than ever, as the film is set to hit 700 theaters in July.
While the "Terrifier" re-release doesn't appear to be timed to a special occasion, a proper theatrical release for "Terrifier" seems like a no-brainer after the sequel's incredible success. "Terrifier 2" became a word-of-mouth phenomenon last year, grossing $15 million worldwide against a shoestring budget that...
