Reboot Of 1980s Box Office Disaster Kept The Best Parts Out Of Recent Trailer, Says Stars
Image
In an interview at San Diego Comic-Con, the stars of Red Sonja claim that the recent trailer left out the best parts of the new movie. Red Sonja is originally a female warrior character from the Marvel Comics of the same name. She was created by writer Roy Thomas and illustrator Barry Windsor-Smith.

After the Red Sonja comics debuted in 1973, a movie adaptation by Richard Fleischer was released in 1985. This film starred Brigitte Nielsen in the titular role and also featured Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Four decades later, another Red Sonja movie is coming out. Set for release on August 15, this iteration is directed by M.J. Bassett and features Matilda Lutz in the lead role. The film's supporting cast includes Wallis Day, Robert Sheehan, Robert Rhodes, Veronica Ferres, and Trevor Eve.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossanat Sdcc, Day and Sheehan reflect on their thoughts on the Red Sonja trailer.

I, Jack Wright Review: A Dynasty in Decay
Image
From the moment a lifeless figure is discovered in a dusty pigeon loft, I, Jack Wright drags us into a chamber of rituals: the solemn gathering, the crack of the lawyer’s ledger, the will proclaimed like an oracle’s verdict. Jack’s sudden absence reveals itself less as an end than a threshold to revelation—each beneficiary framed in the cold light of familial obligation, greed and unspoken grief. That single act of reading seals destinies, fractures loyalties and summons questions that refuse easy answers.

Chris Lang, whose reputation was etched in the hushed corridors of Unforgotten, pulls these six chapters into focus with both deft precision and an appetite for moral uncertainty. Commissioned by UKTV’s U&Alibi and destined for broader audiences on BBC One, the series feels wrought from careful design: each hour a modular piece of a larger game, measured yet restless. The writing carries...

Red Sonja Secures A UK Release - But There's Still No Word On What's Happening In The U.S.
Image
The long-awaited Red Sonja reboot hasn't had the easiest journey to the big screen. For starters, it's lost multiple filmmakers, including disgraced X-Men director Bryan Singer and main star, Thunderbolts*'s Hannah John-Kamen.

M.J. Bassett has since stepped behind the camera to helm the action, with Matilda Lutz tapped to bring the iconic warrior to life in a movie fans hope will do this character justice. It's been nearly four decades since the character appeared in a movie, with Brigitte Nielsen bringing the iconic hero to life way back in 1985.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen in Red Sonja (1985)
Red Sonja | Fantasy reboot due for release in 2025
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen in Red Sonja (1985)
Thirty years after it was last adapted for the large screen, the troubled Red Sonja reboot is finally coming out in 2025, a report suggests.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it’s taken a staggeringly long time to reboot Red Sonja. Based on the comic book character of the same name, the fantasy yarn was first adapted into a movie in 1985, with Brigitte Nielsen as the titular sword-swinging warrior.

A reboot was first talked about in 2008, and has spent the years since roaming the various circles of development hell. Bryan Singer was going to direct a new Red Sonja at one point, but then it was discovered that he’s (allegedly) an awful human being and bowed out. According to Deadline, though, the new Red Sonja has been picked up for a UK and Irish release by Signature Entertainment, and is scheduled for release in 2025. The outlet also...

Alice Eve’s 8 Best Acting Roles (Including Star Trek's Carol Marcus)
Image
Alice Eve's role as Carol Marcus in Star Trek into Darkness was a proud moment despite controversy. The actress seamlessly portrayed Typhoid Mary in Iron Fist, enhancing the show's quality. Alice Eve's versatility shines through in various roles, proving her talent across genres.

Carol Marcus in Star Trek into Darkness is just one of many great movie and television roles for British actress Alice Eve. The daughter of A Discovery of Witches' Trevor Eve and actress Sharon Maughan, Alice Eve followed her parents into the acting profession with her debut TV role in Hawking, opposite Star Trek into Darkness' Benedict Cumberbatch. Despite Alice Eve's Star Trek into Darkness controversy, the actress was proud of the role, and didn't see the controversial underwear scene as exploitative.

The Star Trek into Darkness controversy didn't restrict Alice Eve's career aspirations, as she went on to star in a wide range of film and TV projects.

Most Faithful ‘Dracula’ Adaptations, Ranked (Photos)
Image
“The Last Voyage of the Demeter,” which spotlights the doomed ship in Bram Stoker’s oft-adapted 1897 novel, is the second Dracula film released in 2023 after “Renfield.” Both take generous liberties with the source material, which brings up the question: Out of the 200-some films about the famous Count, which ones are the most faithful?

Here’s our ranking of some of the most popular, and a few lesser-known, Dracula adaptations.

Universal

8. Renfield (2023)

Pretty much the only thing this horror comedy has in common with the novel is Nicholas Hoult as the bug-eating title character and a delightfully campy Nicolas Cage as his bloodthirsty boss. The movie brings them both into the 21st century, makes Renfield an ass-kicking hero and swaps out Lucy and Mina for Awkwafina’s incorruptible cop.

Miramax

7. Dracula 2000 (2000)

The film begins with a shot of the wrecked Demeter and footprints in the sand as Dracula heads to town.

Fremantle Backs Diversity Leadership Scheme

Fremantle has teamed with The TV Collective, Indigo Talent, and former ITV Studios executive Remy Blumenfeld to launch a scheme that will work with 50 middle-to-senior Bame professionals to help them break into industry leadership roles. Under the Breakthrough Leaders initiative, those chosen will be mentored by a top industry figure, have access to coaching, and be part of a cohort of fellow executives. Nominations can be submitted here, with a deadline for entries being set for January 15. The scheme is designed to address industry concerns that there are plenty of entry-level initiatives for people from diverse backgrounds, but Bame professionals are hitting a glass ceiling when it comes to breaking into top roles. Fremantle’s own global leadership team is made up entirely of white executives, while in the UK, Fatima Salaria and Athena Witter are part of the top team.
