Staley, Long script Sony TV deal
Veteran comedy writer-producers Dan Staley and Rob Long have inked a premium two-script deal with Sony Pictures Television. Under the terms of the pact, the two will develop two comedy projects for the studio targeted for fall 2005. The idea to do two projects at the same time came to Staley and Long after they juggled two pilots this past development season. At CBS, they created and executive produced a mother-daughter comedy starring Kirstie Alley and Ricki Lake, and at ABC, they wrote and executive produced with Timothy Fall a father-son comedy that starred William Devane and Tom Everett Scott. "In a lot of ways, it's more efficient," Long said of shepherding two series projects at the same time. "It's kind of nice to be able to keep the same team together to do more than one project."...
