The 10 Best Mma Movies, Ranked
Image
Though controversial figures like Joe Rogan and Conor McGregor and organizations like the UFC have turned mixed martial arts into one of the most popular sports in the world, that popularity has failed to translate to the world of cinema. "Rocky" and "Raging Bull" showed what full-contact competitive fighting sports could uniquely bring to the sports subgenre, and the continued success of the "Creed" series proves that the appetite from audiences for this sort of film persists despite the Marvel-ification of the movie theater.

So why aren't there more Mma movies? It's likely because what few have been produced have, on the whole, been critical failures. But that doesn't mean this sub-subgenre is doomed altogether. We've found the 10 best Mma movies ever made, the best qualities of each arguably revealing what qualities future films need to master before entering the theatrical octagon themselves.

Days of Our Lives’ Cherie Jimenez Spins Negative Criticism Into Positive Outlook
Image
Days of Our Lives star Cherie Jimenez dealt with harsh criticism over her portrayal of Gabi Hernandez. Fans were used to Camila Banus, who played the role for 13 years. This can be a difficult transition for anyone, even the viewers. But that doesn’t excuse bullying. In a new interview, Jimenez addressed the negativity she faced on social media and warned those who compare her to her predecessor.

Loving her Role

For Jimenez, playing such an iconic character on the Peacock soap is a dream come true. She also loves the Latina representation that the show brings. In an interview with Woman’s World, Jimenez shared her thoughts about landing the role of Gabi. She first auditioned for the part in 2009.

Jimenez jumped at the opportunity when she first got it. She had no idea that Camila Banus stepped down from the role. “For this to come back around 15-plus years...

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Why Cherie Jimenez Is So Over Being Bullied As Gabi Recast “I Cried A Bunch In The Beginning”
Image
‘Days of Our Lives’ (Dool) spoilers indicate that Cherie Jimenez, who assumed the role of Gabi Hernandez Dimera in June, is a formidable actress. She took over playing the feisty Latino bombshell from fan-favorite Camilla Banus.

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Cherie Took Over The Role After Camilla Banus

Jimenez recently opened up to Women’s World magazine. Being a soap recast is never easy, but Jimenez has found her footing. The fans didn’t exactly roll out the red carpet to welcome her to Days.

In fact, some fans bullied her online when she first started.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat it,” she said. I cried a bunch in the beginning.”

While Banus wasn’t the first Gabi to take on the role, she was the most popular and longest-running Gabi. Actress Gabriella Rodriguez played Gabi from 2009 to 2010. Camilla Banus was the next actress to tackle the part.

Cinedigm has released an official trailer for a new crime thriller titled Gangster Land, from director Timothy Woodward Jr., of the western film Hickok also being released this year. It tells the story of Capone's rise, but through the the eyes of McGurn. Milo Gibson (one of Mel's sons) plays Capone, and the full cast includes Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Peter Facinelli, Michael Paré, Jason Patric, Don Harvey, Mark Rolston, and Al Sapienza. Mel Gibson's Son, Milo, Makes Leading Man Debut as Al Capone in 'Gangster Land' Trailer (Exclusive)
Jason Patric, Peter Facinelli, Sean Faris, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Milo Gibson in Gangster Land (2017)
While Mel Gibson is trading yucks with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell in Daddy's Home 2, his son, Milo, will make his leading man debut in a movie you'd more likely expect from his father: Gangster Land, a gritty, R-rated period crime drama about the rise of Al Capone.

Milo plays Capone, and the trailer, debuting here on Et, is chock full of machine guns blazing and dancing flappers, fedoras and mobster wheeling and dealing, all leading to a courtroom outburst where he bellows, "I'm Al Capone! You better remember me!"

Photo: Cinedigm

Gangster Land, from director Timothy Woodward Jr., also stars Sean Faris (Pretty Little Liars), Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Peter Facinelli. Milo first appeared onscreen last year in Hacksaw Ridge, which was directed by the elder Gibson, but the 27-year-old nearly didn't get into acting at all.

"After I got through high school, I became a massage therapist. I did that for about two years, then I decided...

Supernatural, Ep. 9.20, “Bloodlines” points to a spinoff with potential
Nathaniel Buzolic, Stephen Martines, Danielle Savre

Supernatural, Season 9, Episode 20: “Bloodlines”

Written by Andrew Dabb

Directed by Robert Singer

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW

Over the course of its nine seasons, Supernatural has built a rich world of monsters around the Winchesters, mostly framing the creatures in relation to Sam and Dean or their acquaintances. Watching how the monsters interact amongst themselves and how they co-exist in the same space, however, is a fascinating concept that the show has been unable to explore due to a number of factors, including the larger scope of the storylines already present. This week’s episode, which functions as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff series, works with such a premise, setting up a potentially fascinating show in the process.

The idea of a power struggle among resident monsters is a fascinating idea. While the larger fight between Angels and Demons...

On the Scene: 'Pretty Little Liars' season finale event
Troian Bellisario, Sasha Pieterse, Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell in Pretty Little Liars (2010)
Got a secret, can you keep it? The cast and crew of Pretty Little Liars sure can.

The season 4 finale event in New York was all about secrets: What happened the night Ali disappeared? Who’s A? What is Mrs. D up to? Predictably, the Liars and Co. couldn’t say much about what we may or may not be finding out soon, but they did give some special fans a sneak peak at the season finale an hour before it aired.

Everyone who appeared in the finale — minus Holbrook (Sean Faris) and Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto) — gathered together in...

Supernatural Spinoff Takes New Name and Melissa Roxburgh
Now that Supernatural’s planted spinoff is getting some steam, the powers that be have realised that Supernatural: Tribes wasn’t such a great name and have come up with something that more accurately describes what the series will be about. Supernatural: Bloodlines is the new title and I was instantly in love with it. What makes it so much better? Considering this spinoff is supposed to be about the various mafia-esque monster families running the underbelly of Chicago, Tribes just didn’t fit quite right. But Bloodlines? Now that’s a name that sounds like crime families pitted against each other.

On top of the name change, THR reported Melissa Roxburgh was cast in the spinoff. She’ll be playing Violet, a member of Chicago’s werewolf pack. She hides her true nature due to her forbidden love for family rival David (Nathaniel Buzolic), but when she’s...

All the Latest on Supernatural Backdoor Pilot Supernatural: Bloodlines
Now here’s some pilot news that I’m completely comfortable reporting, because we Know we’ll see at least the pilot, even if it isn’t picked up to series. We’ve reported periodically about what the TV industry refers to as “backdoor pilots”; they appear as an episode of an existing series, and if they do well, they’re picked up as a spinoff series. Most recently we’ve seen that with The Originals, which was introduced as an episode of The Vampire Diaries.

The CW, who shows more of Our Kind of Shows than any other network, is becoming rather expert at the spinoff/backdoor pilot game, as they are planning another to air next month. Entitled Supernatural: Bloodlines (until recently it was going to be Supernatural: Tribes), it will air as the April 29th episode of Supernatural.

It is described as a “sweeping drama...
