Netflix has begun production on a new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, with the Slow Horses star, Jack Lowden, stepping into the role of Mr. Darcy. Reports first surfaced earlier this year in April, with Variety revealing Lowden was in talks for the role of the famously aloof romantic hero. Now, Deadline confirming the full cast lineup, fans are eager to see how Lowden will bring new depth to one of literature’s most iconic characters. The six-part limited series is penned by bestselling author Dolly Alderton.
The Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-nominated actor will lead the upcoming romantic drama alongside The Crown star Emma Corrin, who plays Elizabeth Bennet. Lowden, best known for his roles in Slow Horses, Dunkirk, and Benediction, has built a reputation as the UK’s most versatile leading man. Netflix has opted to cancel Cursed after just one season. The fantasy series, which was headlined by Katherine Langford was released last summer and promised a new take on the age-old Arthurian legend. But the new take didn't generate enough buzz to garner a large enough audience that would justify a continuation. As a result, the streaming service has quietly axed the show.
According to multiple reports, Cursed season 2 is not in the cards. While Netflix has been known to save certain shows from cancelation, their shows don't move elsewhere. So this is firmly a one-and-done situation. The cast has been released from any contractual obligations and are now free to pursue other opportunities. No specific reason for the cancellation was provided. Though it likely came down to the audience it brought in relative to what it cost to produce.

The Netflix fantasy series Cursed is a new take on the Legend of King Arthur. Based on a graphic novel written by Thomas Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller, the series stars Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) in the lead as Nimue, a teenager with special powers who will one day become the fabled Lady of the Lake. In a recent interview with the press, Langford spoke about her love for the character of Nimue.
"[Nimue has] a really incredible and kind of epic journey. On the one hand, she's going through this journey of grief, personal loss, and also personal growth, and [on the other], kind of the greater challenge of overcoming adversity. And one of the greatest things I think I realized during playing Nimue in this series, and in the [Arthurian] stories, is that she kind of represents courage. And I think she's a really colorful beacon and also a really interesting heroine in this world.

Netflix's latest series will delve deep into Arthurian legends.
The streamer on Tuesday unveiled the full-length trailer for Cursed, and there's a lot to like.
Based on the New York Times bestselling book, Cursed is a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake.
After her mother's death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a humble mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.
Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.
Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.
