Chelsea Transfers: 5 January Signings For Jose Mourinho
Media Image Ltd

Chelsea may be going strong in three different competitions after key victories in each within the space of the week, but Jose Mourinho will not let owner Roman Abramovich rest on his laurels when it comes to recruitment.

As impressive as the strength in depth is within the current Stamford Bridge squad – just ask Arsenal, who were well bested by the Blues’ second string in the Capital One Cup – the Special One may feel new blood will keep the momentum going.

Mourinho is a pervasive name throughout the footballing world. Players want to play for him and stars at some of his former clubs are inevitably linked with following him to Chelsea.

Rumours are rife when it comes to inbound transfers at the Bridge. If the Special One is given a blank cheque to buy in the upcoming winter transfer window Premier League rivals beware.

Chelsea Transfers: 5 Replacements For Ashley Cole
Along with Frank Lampard, Chelsea legend Ashley Cole has been told he is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and can find a new club when his current contract with the Blues expires this summer.

Former Arsenal defender Cole left the Emirates after a bitter wrangle between Arsenal and Chelsea in 2006, with William Gallas heading the opposite way in a part-exchange deal. He has spent seven seasons with the Blues, winning the Premier League in 2010, along with four Fa Cups, a League Cup, the Community Shield and even the Champions League last season – the first ever in the club’s history.

At 32 however, he is considered past his best by the Blues hierarchy and will eventually move on either in this window or next, with a shock move to Man United even being touted.

Should the veteran defender leave Stamford Bridge, that would leave only Ryan Bertrand and, to an extent,...

Pictures: 'I'm Kind Of A Big Deal' - Burgundy With The Blues
He may be "kind of a big deal", but Will Ferrell appeared to be as dazzled by Chelsea's Champions League and Fa Cup trophies as a jazz flute number.

Papa Burgundy and Zach Galifianakis were both on hand to pose with Chelsea players Ross Turnbull, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard and Paulo Ferreira on the Seattle leg of the Blues' pre-season tour.

Ferreira's continued existence at Chelsea - eight years after everyone saw he was, as Burgundy would say, not very professional - extended the comic line-up to three.

"No, I don't know why Paulo Ferreira's still with us."...

Chelsea Transfer News: Marseille Star To Stamford Bridge?
Chelsea are to make a second attempt to sign £12 million rated Marseille right-back Cesar Azpilicueta, according to the Metro.

New manager Roberto Di Matteo has been on the hunt for a new right sided full-back after allowing Jose Boswingwa’s contract expire at the end of last season. Long serving defender Paulo Ferreira looks also set to leave this summer.

Chelsea’s top target was Inter Milan star Maicon but the Brazilian looks set to join Real Madrid this summer.

Lille’s French international full-back Mathieu Debuchy was Chelsea’s recent replacement candidate after impressing at Euro 2012 but he prefers a move to Newcastle United and Alan Pardew’s current French revolution. It also helps that he is best mates to his former Lille team-mate Yohan Cabaye whose reputation across Europe has only increased since a great season at Newcastle.

The Blues have now given up on Debuchy and are...

Chelsea Transfer News: Maicon Heading To Stamford Bridge
Sky Sport Italia reports that Chelsea are leading the way to sign Inter Milan right-back Douglas Miacon. The Blues are said to be in advanced talks with the 30-year-old and have reportedly beaten off stiff competition from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain for the Brazilian international who is looking for a new challenge after spending seven years at the San Siro.

The transfer fee has yet to be revealed.

If a deal can be tied up in the next few days, Maicon would become Chelsea’s third new signing of the summer as Roberto Di Matteo looks to stamp his own authority on the Champions League winners. They have already signed Eden Hazard, probably the most in-demand player in Europe and secured the signing of Marko Marin before the season had actually climaxed.

Maicon would be seen as the club’s new right-back after Chelsea opted to release Jose Bosingwa...

Newcastle United Transfer News: Chelsea’s Paulo Ferreira is Debuchy Alternative?
Newcastle United will turn to veteran Chelsea right-back Paulo Ferreira should their attempts to sign Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy fall through, according to Caught Offside.

The Magpies are expected to make an increased final offer of £7 million for the 26-year-old French international defender who has won many plaudits for his performances at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. He has been one of the stars in a disappointing French campaign and has won many potential suitors across Europe which has convinced Lille to increase the asking price on the player after initially turning down Newcastle’s original £4 million offer.

Debuchy is a good friend of Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye and the North East club do look in pole position to sign the player but with Chelsea having just entered the race for his signature and with the European Champions able to offer higher wages and Champions League football, The Geordies may...

Champions League Final: 5 Bayern Munich Players Chelsea Should Fear
The Champions League final is upon us. Chelsea have the chance to become the first team from London to ever win the European Cup and at the same time qualify for next year’s tournament. Roberto Di Matteo can make himself a Stamford Bridge legend, succeeding where Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Carlo Ancelotti and Andre Villas-Boas all failed, with the bonus of finding his temporary status upgraded to permanent.

Both teams have a lot of key men missing through suspension, and injury doubts linger over their replacements, but here are the five men who could cause Chelsea another Champions League final heartbreak.

1. Franck Ribery & 2. Arjen Robben

Bayern’s two best players, remarkably similar in style and personality, it’s amazing they don’t get on better!

Ribery is naturally right footed, but equally adept with his left. He will start on the left wing with license to roam right across the pitch,...

Bayer Leverkusen vs Chelsea – Match Preview
Chelsea travel to Germany tonight to take on Bayer Leverkusen in a Champions League encounter where a result tonight will send them into the knockout stages. The Blues have only won one match in their last four games and manager Andre-Villas Boas has come under incredible scrutiny and many are starting to wonder whether he will make it to the end of the season as the boss at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea currently top the group with eight points attained from four matches, Leverkusen currently two points behind in second. Certainly if Chelsea don’t qualify for the knockout phases you can guarantee Villas-Boas will be gone as Roman Abramovich’s main agenda is to win the competition. To progress tonight they need to be aware of former midfielder Michael Ballack will be playing his 100th European tie and will be desperate to put one over his former side.
