Jason Mantzoukas Causes Competitive Chaos in ‘Taskmaster’ Season 19 Images [Exclusive]

Well, Taskmaster of course! The comedy competition series returns for its nineteenth season on May 1, and Collider is excited to premiere some exclusive images of competitor Jason Mantzoukas as he takes on the insanity of the British panel series.

The images don’t give us a great idea of what kinds of tasks Mantzoukas and the rest of the contestants will be put through over the course of ten episodes, but they do give us a great idea of the energy he’s bringing going into things. Why ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin’ on Apple TV+ Won’t Return for Season 2
Image
Well, folks, it looks like we’ve got some disappointing news to share with all you historical comedy fans out there. Apple TV+ has officially pulled the plug on The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, meaning we won’t be seeing a second season of the quirky series.

It can be hard when we have to say goodbye to a show we love, but that's just the reality of it sometimes. Noel Fielding 'Will Be Returning' to Work After Abandoning Now-Canceled Apple TV+ Series
Image
Noel Fielding will be returning to work following the abrupt cancelation of his Apple TV+ series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin. The historical comedy was axed by Apple last week mid-way through filming season two.

It was reported that Fielding, who plays the title character in Dick Turpin, had dropped out of the series even though three-quarters of the work had already been completed. The Sun originally claimed that Fielding "failed to come to work" for undisclosed reasons, but there is no official explanation as of yet. Producer Big Talk Studios ultimately decided to completely shut down production on Dick Turpin season two because the project couldn’t be salvaged without Fielding.

Noel Fielding will Return to Work on The Great British Bake Off 2:30

Apple TV+ Has Cancelled This Series Only Two Months After It Premiered

Sadly, the practice of squashing new shows almost immediately has become common among streaming services.

Noel Fielding Will Still Host 'Bake Off' Despite 'Dick Turpin' Drama
Image
Despite the drama on his other series, Apple TV+'s The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin, Noel Fielding will return to host The Great British Bake-Off. In a new statement, the actor and host's spokesperson insisted that, despite the rumor mill churning out worry given the cancelation of Dick Turpin, Fielding "will be returning" to host the popular reality series.

Fielding's spokesperson has since issued the following statement (which we first encountered via Deadline):

There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from 'Bake Off.' We have been in contact with Channel 4 and Love Productions throughout all the speculation and his ‘stepping down’ has never been part of that dialogue. We can confirm he will be returning to co-host the next series of 'Bake Off.'

Deadline also reported that Love Productions/Channel 4 fully anticipate the actor's return to the tent once production on...

Noel Fielding’s Spokeswoman Says He Will Return To ‘Great British Bake Off’
Image
Noel Fielding will return to host this year’s Great British Bake Off, according to his spokeswoman.

Questions had emerged over whether Fielding would present Channel 4’s most popular show following the revelation last week that his Apple TV+ comedy The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin was being scrapped after Fielding pulled out around three-quarters of the way through the shoot. That show will not be salvaged and reports stated that Fielding had “failed to come to work.”

Fielding’s spokeswoman has since issued a statement saying: “There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from Bake Off. We have been in contact with Channel 4 and Love Productions throughout all the speculation and his ‘stepping down’ has never been part of that dialogue. We can confirm he will be returning to co-host the next series of Bake Off.”

Is Noel Fielding Exiting ‘Great British Baking Show’ Amid Health Issues?
Image
A spokesperson for The Great British Baking Show co-host Noel Fielding is responding to claims that his client will be stepping down from the Netflix competition series amid ongoing health issues. The news comes after Fielding’s Apple TV+ comedy series, The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin, was axed last week midway through production on its second season. It was reported that Fielding failed to return to set following the Christmas break and ultimately pulled out of the series, of which he was the lead star. It was later reported that Fielding dropped out of the show due to a mystery health condition, with his spokesperson stating, “This is a private and confidential matter regarding our client’s health. We are saddened by the decision to cease production but we cannot make any further comment on this matter.” Another source told The Times, “Noel has said that he can...

Quick Links The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin Season 2 Latest News The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin Season 2 Is Canceled The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin Season 2 Cast The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin Season 2 Story Details

Apple TV+ renewed the cheeky comedy The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin for a second season, but it has since been scrapped. Starring Noel Fielding as the titular bandit, Dick Turpin fictionalizes and lampoons the exploits of the real-life highwayman from British lore who, along with his Essex Gang, set out to become the greatest highwayman in English history. Like many projects involving Fielding, Dick Turpin utilizes surrealist comedy to pick apart the romanticized figure from history, but does so without losing any of the accessible charm that any comedy show should have.

Most of the reviews for the show's first season were overwhelmingly positive, and it offered...

Image
Sorry, tossed salads and scrambled eggs are no longer on the menu: Paramount+ has cancelled the Frasier revival starring Kelsey Grammer after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed. CBS Studios will shop the series to other platforms, our sister site Variety reports.

Grammer reprised his role as psychiatrist Frasier Crane, a role he originated on Cheers and then continued on his own spinoff Frasier, which ran for 11 seasons on NBC. In the revival, Frasier moved back to Boston to reconnect with his son Freddy, taking a job teaching at Harvard along the way. Jack Cutmore-Scott co-starred as Freddy, with Nicholas Lyndhurst...

Noel Fielding’s AppleTV+ Series Is Dead Because He Gave It the ‘Chappelle’s Show’ Treatment
Image
As Dave Chappelle would put it, technically, Noel Fielding never quit his AppleTV+ period comedy The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin — he’s just several weeks late for work.

The surrealist comic Fielding has made a career out of being hard-to-pin-down creatively, but, as the hundreds of cast and crew members from Dick Turpin found out recently, the Mighty Boosh and The Great British Baking Show star’s schedule is as inscrutable as his characters. As the title suggests, Dick Turpin told the hyperbolically fictionalized story of the real Victorian-era highwayman by the same name, with Fielding and his talent for over-the-top eccentricities playing the romantic rogue.

After a generally well-received first season, AppleTV+ and Big Talk studios began shooting Season Two late last year, completing an estimated three-quarters of the planned filming before taking a break for the Christmas holiday. However, once the Dick Turpin team returned to set following the festivities,...

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin canceled amid Noel Fielding ditching production
Image
Here’s one story you can’t make up about Dick Turpin: his show is dead. Despite a successful and acclaimed first season on Apple TV+, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin won’t be returning for a sophomore outing. And according to reports, there’s one man to pin it on: the star of the series, Noel Fielding.

As it stands, Noel Fielding – who plays the titular character and truly broke out as part of The Mighty Boosh troupe – is at the center for why The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin won’t press on. As reports claim, Fielding didn’t return after the holiday break in production and headed for France, with a rep for the actor coyly stating, “One of the main cast members who has not been well is not recovered enough to complete the filming.” As vague as that is, everything has been pointing directly to Fielding,...

Why Apple TV+’s Noel Fielding Comedy ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin’ Came To An Untimely Halt
Image
The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin was Apple TV+’s high jinks vehicle for the very best of British comedy talent, but there’s nothing whimsical about the series coming to a clattering halt this week.

Production has ceased on Season 2 of the Big Talk Studios series about an 18th-century highway robber, putting a cast and crew of hundreds out of work with nothing to show for their efforts. Filmed footage cannot be fashioned into a scaled-back season and there is no hope of getting the show back on the road, according to three sources familiar with Dick Turpin’s demise.

At the center of this highly unusual situation is Noel Fielding, the comedy’s titular character, who is also known to American viewers as the co-host of The Great British Baking Show. The star, who shot to fame in surrealist noughties comedy The Mighty Boosh, failed to return...

Apple’s ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin’ Axes Season 2 Production
Image
Apple TV+‘s comedy The Completely Made–Up Adventures of Dick Turpin will not return.

The show has ceased production on series two, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Thursday. British tabloid The Sun first reported the news, adding that titular star Noel Fielding — well known among U.S. audiences as a co-host of The Great British Baking Show — pulled out three-quarters of the way through the shoot.

Filming started on a second series in the autumn, the tabloid said, but 51-year-old Fielding did not return after the Holidays. The cast and crew have now been stood down. Though THR has been unable to confirm the report, Fielding’s team has been contacted for comment.

Written by Fielding, Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain, the series followed the contemptuous life of the 18th-century highwayman, known in York, England, as a thief, poacher and killer but whose exploits have been widely romanticized in modern culture.

Apple TV Show With 84% Rt Score Scrapped Even Though Most Of Season 2 Is Already Shot
Image
When it comes to streaming services, Apple TV+ is relatively small, subscriber-wise. It trails far behind the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Max, but it has, over the last few years, become a go-to place for high-quality shows and movies. The streamer release Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) and Coda (2021), the latter of which won Best Picture at the Oscars.

Apple TV+ is arguably more successful on the TV front, delivering a number of acclaimed and popular series without developing a reputation for cancellations like Netflix has. Notable shows on the streamer include Foundation, Silo, Slow Horses, For All Mankind, and Ted Lasso, and Severance season 2 is poised to be a big hit for Apple this month. Though not quite reaching this same level of acclaim, one 2024 Apple TV+ comedy was evidently enough of a hit to earn a season 2 renewal, but it now won't be returning at all.

In an age where it’s often up in the air if a show is going to be renewed or canceled, it’s always refreshing to see a full cast and crew of hard-working people get to come back for another season. That’s exactly what happened with The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, which dropped its first season in March 2024 and was renewed for a second season a few months later in July. The show had been in production on its second season since before Christmas, and now Deadline has delivered a devastating update. After leading star Noel Fielding, who plays Dick Turpin in the series, did not show up to resume filming after Christmas, Apple officially disbanded the cast and crew and canceled the show.

‘Great British Baking Show’ Star Noel Fielding’s Apple TV+ Comedy Axed After He ‘Failed to Come to Work’
Image
The second season of Apple TV+’s comedy series The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin has been scrapped after star Noel Fielding “failed to come to work” following the Christmas break. As first reported by The Sun, the show started filming Season 2 in the fall and was around three-quarters of the way through the shoot when it paused for the holidays. Fielding, who starred as the titular Dick Turpin, didn’t return when production was scheduled to resume and ultimately dropped out of the series. According to The Sun, an insider claims the cast and crew were told the series was being axed due to “the illness of a key cast member.” “They were understandably bewildered and infuriated by the bombshell because the show required millions of pounds, months of planning and hours of work,” the insider added. “It now effectively means that they are all out of work and looking for new jobs,...

Noel Fielding’s Apple TV+ Dick Turpin Series ‘Ceases Production’ on Season 2
Image
Apple TV+ series “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,” which stars Noel Fielding as the infamous highway bandit, has shut down in the middle of shooting Season 2, Variety has confirmed.

A source close to the project said Season 2 had “ceased production.”

Variety understands that the show, which was around three months into the shoot, is highly unlikely to get back off the ground. Another source said that Apple and production company Big Talk did “everything they could” to finish the series and were “really excited about it.”

Consisting of six episodes, the first season of the show launched on the streamer last spring, co-starring Hugh Bonneville, Tamsin Greig and Ellie White. It was directed by “The Inbetweeners” and “Douglas is Cancelled” helmer Ben Palmer. Fielding was also an exec producer on the project.

The show’s second season started shooting at Sky Studios in Elstree and on location last...

Noel Fielding's Reported Absence From Set Leads to Cancelation of 'The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin'
Image
Apple TV+ have reportedly pulled the plug on The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin despite the second season reportedly being almost finished. While details are still sketchy on exactly why the production has been shut down, reports have suggested it is because star and series writer Noel Fielding did not return to the production following a Christmas break.

The details shared by The Sun have said that despite the series being around three quarters complete, Fielding’s apparent departure from the series has made the whole thing “unsalvageable” and Apple TV have simply decided to cut their losses. Cast and crew were told that the cancelation of the rest of the series was due to “the illness of a key cast member.” The publication quoted an insider as saying:

“[The crew] were understandably bewildered and infuriated by the bombshell because the shoe show required millions of pounds, months of planning and hours of work.
