Will John Krasinski Appear in The Paper: 5 Stars from The Office Who Must Return for Cameos
Image
The question burning in every Office fan’s mind just got a lot more interesting. Will John Krasinski reprise his role as Jim Halpert in The Paper, Greg Daniels’ upcoming Peacock spinoff? Recent developments suggest the answer might be a resounding yes.

The trailer has already confirmed the return of Oscar Martinez (played by Oscar Nuñez), sparking a wave of speculation among fans, if Oscar is back, who else might make an appearance? That question gained further momentum when John Krasinski revealed something interesting! In a chat with Extra in May, he said,

Done! If they ask me, I’m in.

This small statement matters more to fans than one might think. As they’ll finally get some closure, those tiny updates that reassure viewers their favorite characters are still out there, doing exactly what we always imagined. Part of the magic of The Office was how real these people felt.

‘The Paper’ Cast: Why The Office Spinoff Actors Look So Familiar
Image
Hot off the press, The Office spinoff – The Paper – just released its first trailer. The mockumentary crew that documented the lives of Dunder Mifflin employees is back to film a group of volunteer reporters at a struggling newspaper outlet called Toledo Truth-Teller. Led by Domhnall Gleeson, the new editor-in-chief, his character brings energy and enthusiasm to a group of fresh underdog journalists in hopes of revitalizing the company.

For those of you who haven’t seen the trailer, here you go:

Greg Daniels, the showrunner who adapted BBC’s The Office (Ricky Gervais) for U.S. audiences, is a co-creator, along with Michael Koman (Late Night with Conan O’Brien). They have kept things hush-hush for quite some time, revealing only one still photo of Ned Sampson, the titular character played by Domhnall Gleeson. In an interview with People magazine, Gleeson says:

I don’t think my characters like Michael Scott at all.

The Paper Trailer: Domhnall Gleeson Inspires to Live Up to Steve Carell’s Charisma in Spinoff
Image
Peacock has released the first trailer for The Paper, the forthcoming spin-off to the beloved mockumentary The Office. Domhnall Gleeson, who’s playing Ned Sampson, the newly appointed editor-in-chief for the struggling Midwestern newspaper, has showcased promise in his brief scenes in the trailer.

Although Steve Carell‘s iconic portrayal of Michael Scott remains a high bar to clear, it appears the creatives behind the show are taking an almost opposite approach to that of Scott, who was a lovable yet incompetent lead.

Domhnall Gleeson Leads a Struggling Newsroom in The Paper Trailer

With the same crew that helmed The Office returning for the spin-off, the sitcom is set in the same universe as that of Dunder Mifflin. Domhnall Gleeson, in contrast to Carell’s Scott, stars as the idealistic journalist Ned Sampson, who is trying to make the best out of his team of misfits and the struggling newsroom,...

Everything to know about ‘The Paper’ as trailer drops: Stars, fun cameos, and inside scoop on ‘The Office’ spin-off
Image
The Office is opening a new location. Sort of.

Peacock has just released the trailer for The Paper, a new series from The Office creators Greg Daniels and Michael Koman that will serve as something of a sequel to the classic Emmy-winning NBC sitcom.

What's it about?

The show marks a return to the mockumentary format that made The Office, starring Steve Carell, an Emmy-winning staple, and cleverly ties into The Office universe without rehashing old ground. As Peacock previously revealed during NBC’s Upfront presentation, the series follows the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch as they uncover a new subject: a historic Midwestern newspaper and the determined publisher trying to revive it.

Who's in the cast?

That publisher is played by Domhnall Gleeson, leading an ensemble that includes Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Oscar Nuñez,...

Fans Are Flocking to Watch Clint Eastwood’s 85% Rotten Tomatoes Disaster Drama
Image
Clint Eastwood debuted his final film last year with Juror #2, but nearly 10 years before he hung up his director’s camera for the final time, he helmed a critically acclaimed docudrama that’s returned to streaming charts. In 2016, Eastwood directed Sully, the disaster biopic starring Tom Hanks (Greyhound) and Aaron Eckhart (Olympus Has Fallen) that tells the story of Chesley Sullenberger, the famous pilot who landed his plane on the Hudson River to save the lives of his passengers and crew. Sully is currently streaming on HBO Max in the United States, but globally, it’s become one of the most popular movies on VOD nine years later. Sully earned scores of 85% from critics and 84% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed $243 million at the box office against a $60 million budget.

Superman Director James Gunn Once Starred In A Gonzo Mockumentary Currently On Prime Video
Image
These days, multi-hyphenate writer/director/executive producer/co-ceo of DC Studios James Gunn is a pretty massive mover and shaker in the entertainment world, but in 2004, he was still just getting his career off the ground. Sure, he had been working with Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Studios for years at that point, having written "Tromeo and Juliet" in 1996 for his very first official gig, and he had written a successful screenplay for "Scooby-Doo" in 2002, but he was far from the professional and pop culture titan he is today. In true Troma spirit, however, Gunn was still hard at work on low-budget projects, and he starred as a version of himself alongside his then-wife Jenna Fischer in her directorial debut, a mockumentary called "LolliLove."

"LolliLove" is as indie as it gets, filmed for about $1,500 and shot in and around Gunn and Fischer's home, with actual footage from their wedding used as B-roll.

Before MCU and ‘Superman,’ James Gunn Starred in a Wild Mockumentary Now on Prime Video
Image
James Gunn is now one of the biggest names in Hollywood. As the co-ceo of DC Studios, he’s in charge of shaping the future of the DC Universe.

Before that, he directed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies and is now behind the upcoming Superman. But before superheroes and billion-dollar franchises, Gunn worked on a much smaller, and much weirder project.

In 2004, Gunn starred in LolliLove, a low-budget mockumentary directed by Jenna Fischer, who was his wife at the time. Fischer also co-wrote the movie and played the lead alongside Gunn. The film is a sharp comedy about a wealthy Southern California couple who believe they’ve come up with a genius way to help the homeless: handing out lollipops wrapped in cheerful slogans.

The cast is full of familiar faces. Jason Segel, Linda Cardellini, Judy Greer, and cult filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman all appear, mostly as versions of themselves.

Before MCU & ‘Superman’ James Gunn Starred in a Wild Mockumentary You Can Currently Watch on Amazon Prime Video
Image
James Gunn might be best known today as the man behind Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad, and the upcoming Superman. But before he was leading huge superhero movies, he was part of a much smaller, stranger project, a 2004 mockumentary called LolliLove.

LolliLove was directed by Jenna Fischer, who also co-wrote and starred in it alongside Gunn, her husband at the time. The movie is a sharp, awkward comedy about a rich Southern California couple who decide to “help” the homeless in their own misguided way. Their big idea? Handing out lollipops with cheerful slogans printed on the wrappers.

The cast includes several familiar faces. Gunn plays James. Fischer plays Jenna. Jason Segel, Linda Cardellini, Judy Greer, and even cult filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman make appearances. Most of them play exaggerated versions of themselves.

Fischer told St. Louis Magazine that she began with a loose plot outline and then had...

A Terrific New Molly Gordon Movie Tears Down One Of Modern TV's Most Annoying Tropes
Image
"Oh, Hi!" starts off like a rom-com, but also like a horror movie. We meet Iris (Molly Gordon) and her boyfriend Isaac (Logan Lerman) as they spend a nice weekend up in a secluded house out of the city, and during that first day, everything seems suspiciously perfect. Indeed, Iris and Isaac seem to be getting along a little too well, and we know this wouldn't be much of a movie if nothing went wrong.

Finally, the penny drops: While Isaac is handcuffed to a bed post-coitus, he reveals that he's not ready for a relationship. Iris is baffled, because it sure seemed like she and Isaac were already in a relationship. But Isaac doesn't see it this way. Despite inviting her for a weekend getaway upstate and being romantic with her throughout the whole first act, he doesn't see Iris as his girlfriend and has zero interest in letting that happen.

'The Office' Cast Has a Group Chat And This Is Who Is the Most Unhinged
Image
The Officeis a beloved adaptation of the UK sitcom from Greg Daniels and Mike Schur. To help fill the gap that the show left, stars Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer have made a podcast about the show to talk about it. Named Office Ladies, both Kinsey and Fischer will rewatch episodes, give fans exclusive behind the scenes stories, and more. And that's how we know who is the biggest jokester in the group chat.

While talking with People recently, Kinsey shared that Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight K. Schrute on the series is the one who checks in the most while Creed Bratton is a bit random. “Interestingly enough, I feel like Rainn [Wilson] checks in the most, which is very sweet,...

The Office Stars Reuniting For New Project Following Actor's Retirement Prank
Image
Craig Robinson's recent announcement that he was quitting comedy turned out to be an elaborate prank related to a new commercial. The actor-comedian is best known for playing Dunder Mifflin warehouse foreman Darryl Philbin in The Office. Though not one of the sitcom's leads, Darryl is a quotable fan-favorite character.

Recently, the Darryl actor posted two videos on Instagram in which Robinson explained he was quitting comedy to focus on his "true calling" of starting a small business. Many media outlets (including Screen Rant), fans, and even celebrities took Robinson's announcement at face value.

However, a new ad from AT&T Business dropped today, and it features Robinson explaining that his retirement announcement was a hoax. The commercial sees Robinson playing a version of himself as a small business owner, and he reunites with Office cast members Angela Kinsey, Ellie Kemper, Oscar Nuñez, and Creed Bratton. In the ad,...

Craig Robinson’s ‘Retirement’ Fuels Next Wave of Office AT&T Ads
Craig Robinson
Los Angeles — Craig Robinson jolted fans on July 4 by declaring on Instagram that he was “quitting comedy” to pursue “something bigger,” hinting at a mysterious small-business venture and asking fellow entrepreneurs for advice. The timing — and the fact that Robinson still has improv dates on the books — quickly triggered speculation that the post was a teaser for the next instalment of AT&T Business’s nostalgia-driven campaign built around a mini-reunion of The Office cast.

That campaign, first detailed by The Hollywood Reporter last year, united Robinson with Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery and Creed Bratton in “Sleep with Rain,” a six-minute mock-doc in which Wilson tries to launch a talking pillow while the others scramble to keep his start-up afloat on AT&T’s Next Level Network. AT&T’s release framed the spot as a demonstration that “if this famously chaotic group can run a business,...

Craig Robinson Isn’t Really Quitting Comedy — It’s a Teaser for a New AT&T Marketing Campaign (Exclusive)
Image
Update: Variety was right. Scroll down to watch the latest AT&T Business Internet commercial featuring Craig Robinson and fellow “The Office” alum Ellie Kemper, Angela Kinsey, Creed Bratton and Oscar Nuñez in the spot “Wake Up With CrAIg.”

The reports of Craig Robinson’s retirement from comedy appear to have been greatly exaggerated. Turns out “The Office” star’s so-called “retirement” is believed to be part of a new brand marketing campaign expected to be unleashed in the coming days — and perhaps for a division of AT&T.

Teaser billboards have appeared across Los Angeles in recent weeks announcing, “Craig Robinson is Quitting Comedy,” without any further information. A good indicator that this is part of a teaser campaign, as it is doubtful Robinson would actually spend that kind of outdoor advertising cash to reveal a career change.

Those billboards were in AT&T-style blue, furthering the suspicion that this is...

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and 'The Office' Star, 53, Says He Is Quitting Comedy
Image
One of the best stars from Brooklyn Nine-Nineis officially stepping away from comedy. Craig Robinson, known for his role as Doug Judy in the successful comedy starring Andy Sambergand Melissa Fumero, has announced that his time as a comedic performer has come to an end. Robinson will now focus on a small business he intends to open soon. The announcement might come as a surprise to fans who were expecting to see the actor in other successful television comedy projects.

In Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Craig Robinson stole every scene he was in as Doug Judy. Much to Captain Holt's (Andre Braugher) dismay, Jake Peralta (Samberg) continued to trust the unpredictable criminal played by Robinson. Throughout the many seasons of the series, Judy continued to work alongside Peralta before stabbing him in the back. Doug Judy announced he was moving to Amsterdam with his wife during his last appearance on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Rainn Wilson Says The Office “Chaotic” After Carell Exit
Rainn Wilson
Rainn Wilson says The Office entered “a little bit chaotic” phase once Steve Carell walked away in 2011, recalling on the June 19 episode of Josh Peck and Ben Soffer’s Good Guys podcast that writers and actors scrambled to recalibrate a show suddenly without its “comic engine.” The Dwight Schrute actor stressed the turmoil was expected—Carell’s film résumé was exploding—yet still forced the team to hunt for a new tone and de-facto lead during seasons 8 and 9.

Viewers noticed. Average U.S. live audiences slipped from about 7.3 million in Carell’s final run to 5.3 million the following year, according to Nielsen figures compiled by fan archivists. Critics were mixed, and Wilson now concedes the storytelling “struggle” persisted despite headline-grabbing guest bosses like Will Ferrell and James Spader.

Not everyone agrees the post-Michael era faltered. Jenna Fischer recently told listeners of her Office Ladies podcast that the series “stayed strong the whole time,...

What The Middle's Canceled Spin-Off Would Have Been About
Image
The 2009 ABC sitcom "The Middle" was never a major ratings hit, but it was never a ratings bust either. It might've always been under the shadow of "Modern Family," but it still sailed smoothly to nine full seasons, something few other shows can brag about. In fact, "The Middle" had a strong enough fan base that ABC nearly gave it a spinoff. There were plenty of spinoff options for the writers, too: maybe they could've followed the awkward Brick (Atticus Shaffer) as he made his way through college, or they could've followed Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike (Neil Flynn) as they coped with being empty nesters.

Instead, Sue (Eden Sher) was chosen as the main character going forward. The spinoff was titled "Sue Sue in the City," and it would follow twentysomething Sue getting into all sorts of awkward hijinks in Chicago. "It took place, like, three years in the future,...

Rainn Wilson Says ‘The Office’ Was “A Little Bit Chaotic” After Steve Carell Left
Image
Years after Steve Carell left the cast of The Office, some fans remain divided over whether the show was better or worse after his departure.

Rainn Wilson recently recalled what it was like behind the scenes of the NBC mockumentary sitcom following the exit of Carell’s foolhardy Dunder Mifflin branch manager character Michael Scott after Season 7 in 2011.

“When Steve left, then it was a little bit chaotic of trying to figure out the tone of the show and who’s the lead and, how are we telling these stories without, you know, the comic engine of the show, which is Michael Scott?” explained Wilson on the Good Guys podcast.

Noting Carell was “such a big movie star at the time,” Wilson explained the cast wasn’t surprised by his departure. “We knew it was coming for a long time,” he said.

Co-star Jenna Fischer, who played receptionist and struggling artist Pam Beesly,...

Rainn Wilson Reveals How Difficult It Was When Steve Carell Left The Office
Image
The Office wasn't just a hit, it was a bona fide TV phenomenon. People still quote the best bits even now, and still share the memes that the office-themed series inspired. Some deny a potential change in The Office's quality when Steve Carell left the show.

Carell played Michael, the hapless boss of Dunder Mifflin and arguably the heart of the show. Carell inspired a lot of devotion among both fans and the cast of the show. Rainn Wilson, who played Michael's chaotic Dwight Schrute, spoke out about Carell's exit on an episode of the podcast Good Guys, via Entertainment Weekly.

"When Steve left, then it was a little bit chaotic of trying to figure out the tone of the show and who's the lead and, how are we telling these stories without, you know, the comic engine of the show, which is Michael Scott?" Wilson said. Carell was...

10 Worst Episodes Of The Office, Ranked
Image
There's no debating that "The Office" should be remembered as one of the most influential TV comedies of all time. Just as its British predecessor had done for its local sitcoms, the US adaptation (which first premiered in 2006) defined what American network sitcoms would look, feel, and sound like for the next decade and change.

The influence of "The Office" can be felt on future hit shows like "Superstore," "Parks and Recreation," and even "Abbott Elementary," while the cast and crew whose careers it kickstarted have since produced the likes of "The Mindy Project," the "A Quiet Place" franchise, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "The Good Place," and more. Suffice it to say, entertainment at large would look a lot different if "The Office" had never come to the states -- though that doesn't mean the show lasted so long without considerable hiccups.

If you ask Pam Beesly herself, Jenna Fischer, fans are...

James Gunn Says Clayface Will Be a Body Horror Movie Better Than His Own 19-Year-Old Directorial Debut
Image
James Gunn is now synonymous with superheroes, not just because of his stint as director, but also as the co-ceo of DC Studios. However, before he ever directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, The Suicide Squad, or the upcoming Superman, he made his directorial debut with 2006's Slither.

The release was a body horror that ended up becoming a cult classic, despite flopping in theaters. Since his responsibilities lie with DC Studios, he's now found a way to connect his love for comics with body horror through Clayface. During an appearance on the DC Studios Showcase podcast, Gunn teased what to expect from the upcoming Clayface, which will likely be R-rated.

As he teased some of the upcoming projects, Gunn proclaimed himself to be a fan of Mike Flanagan, who pitched the story for Clayface and wrote the first draft of the script. The co-ceo has often addressed how...

‘The Office’ Original Planned Ending Was a Disaster for Steve Carell’s Michael Scott, Despite What Fans Feel
Image
For nearly a decade, The Office graced the television screens, captivating fans with its dry humor, quirky characters, and one of the most iconic bosses in sitcom history, Michael Scott. When The Office reached its 2013 finale, fans were eager to see how the series would conclude the stories of its unforgettable characters. The most unexpected moment was Michael’s return, who had quietly left Dunder Mifflin at the end of season 7.

His character evolved from a bumbling regional manager to a man who, in his own clumsy way, found love and a sense of personal growth. He returned for the show’s 2013 series finale, and it was a satisfying moment for many fans. However, the original plan of his return threatened to undo all that progress, even Steve Carell agrees.

The Office Star Jenna Fischer Was Cast As Pam Beesly Thanks To One Word
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

More than a decade removed from its series finale, it feels fair to say that "The Office" is one of the most beloved TV shows of all time. Right up there with the likes of "Cheers" and "Friends," the tale of the Dunder Mifflin paper company and the employees who make that seemingly normal company run has etched its place in the annals of television history. Anyone who was on that show has, in turn, achieved some level of immortality, including key players like the receptionist Pam Beesly, as played by Jenna Fischer.

Pam was, of course, a life-changing role for Fischer, who has since parlayed the show's popularity into a very successful podcast called "Office Ladies." Even more incredible, it appears that Fischer landing the role really came down to one word during her audition. During an appearance on...

“People think he’s hilarious”: Steve Carell Refused to Watch Ricky Gervais for ‘The Office’ to Save the Show
Image
While the US version of The Office is practically adapted from the UK version starring Ricky Gervais, the two titular characters, Michael Scott and David Brent, couldn’t be more different. And it was all part of Steve Carell’s plan, as the actor refused to binge-watch The Office UK before stepping into Michael Scott’s squeaky shoes.

Unlike the British version that gave us Ricky Gervais as the awkward and arrogant David Brent, Carell took a different route. Steve Carell made Michael Scott not just clueless, but oddly lovable—a boss you’d roll your eyes at but secretly miss when he’s gone. And it was all possible because Carell intentionally avoided watching Gervais and instead took his advice.

14 Iconic Roles That Almost Went to a Different Actor in the Same Franchise
Image
Sometimes failing is the best thing that can happen to you. Just ask any actor who narrowly missed out on a starring role in a hit franchise; they’re the most well-adjusted people you’ll ever meet.

14 Roman Roy, ‘Succession’

It’s crazy to think that we almost had Jeremy Strong cranking off inside a glass skyscraper instead of Kieran Culkin, but head writer Jesse Armstrong says that Strong initially insisted on playing Kendall Roy.

13 Blanche Devereaux, ‘Golden Girls’

Betty White was originally cast as Blanche, but producers had second thoughts when they realized the character was extremely similar to White’s turn as Sue in The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

12 Buffy and Cordelia Chase, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’

Charisma Carpenter thought she was ready for the lead role, while Sarah Michelle Gellar didn’t. The two wanted to swap parts, but Joss Whedon knew better, and made Gellar play...

The Office Finale Hid A Huge Steve Carell Secret—Even NBC Didn’t Know!
Image
The Office Finale(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Here’s a throwback nugget for every The Office fan: Steve Carell’s surprise return in the series finale was a top-secret mission that barely anyone outside the inner circle knew about. Seriously, the showrunners went all out to keep Michael Scott’s comeback under wraps, even from NBC executives. And trust me, this little-known fact perfectly explains why that moment felt so special.

From the very first season, Michael Scott was the heart and soul of The Office. When Steve Carell left after season seven, the show lost a spark. So when rumors swirled about Michael showing up in the finale, fans were thrilled. But what really blew me away was how carefully the team hid his return. Jenna Fischer, who played Pam, spilled the beans on the Office Ladies podcast. She explained that during the final table read, Creed Bratton read Michael’s lines.

‘The Office’ Star Jenna Fischer Says a One-Word Improvisation ‘Got Me’ the Role of Pam: It Was ‘So Scary’
Image
Jenna Fischer landed her career-defining role with just a single word.

In a recent sit-down with Dana Carvey and David Spade on their “Fly on the Wall Podcast,” Fischer broke down how she got the part of Pam Beesly, who throughout nine seasons of “The Office,” became one of the most iconic characters in television history.

“I had been auditioning for [casting director] Allison [Jones] for about five years before ‘The Office,'” Fischer said. “When it was time for her to cast ‘The Office,’ I had a good enough relationship with her that I could say, ‘Hey Allison, do you have any advice? I really want this one.’ And she said, ‘My advice is don’t come in looking hot. Don’t come in all done up.'”

Fischer continued, “And then she said, ‘We’re going to have you improvise during the audition and my advice is: Dare to bore me.

The Office Star Reveals the One Word That Landed Her Pam Beesly Role
Image
The Office star Jenna Fischer has revealed that improvising one word in her audition landed her the role of Pam Beesly. Fisher starred in all nine seasons of the NBC sitcom.

Fischer opened up about the audition process for the NBC show during a recent appearance on the Fly on the Wall podcast. She recalled being friendly enough with The Office's casting director Allison Jones to ask for some advice before auditioning in front of series creator Greg Daniels. Given the documentary-style format of The Office, Jones encouraged Fischer not to "come in looking hot" and to "dare to bore me" during the improvisation part of the audition.

Fischer recalled that one pivotal moment from her audition involved Daniels improvising a scene where he asked Fischer (as Pam) whether she enjoyed being a receptionist.

This ‘The Office’ Alum Had This Reaction After Rewatching the Hit Comedy’s Controversial Later Seasons
Image
Although over a decade has passed since fans bid farewell to the Steve Carell-led The Office, Jenna Fischer didn’t mind recently revisiting the hit sitcom, and she has a few comments. After rewatching all 201 episodes of the NBC show, the actress’ biggest takeaway was that “it's really good the whole time.” She also revealed in an interview with Dana Carvey and David Spade on the podcast Fly on the Wall, her favorite episodes, which, surprisingly, are in theconcluding seasonsof The Office.

The Mean Girls star recalled hearing talks about The Office’s decline in quality about halfway through its run, and that it struggled once series lead Carell exited during Season 7. She disagreed with the narrative, pointing out that later seasons still had great storylines, saying:

"I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season 3 or...

‘The Office’s Jenna Fischer Admits Some Of Her “Favorite Episodes” Are After Steve Carell Left
Image
Despite being the “World’s Best Boss,” Jenna Fischer thinks The Office did just fine without Steve Carell.

The actress recently defended the NBC mockumentary sitcom’s later seasons following the departure of Carell’s foolhardy Dunder Mifflin branch manager character Michael Scott after Season 7 in 2011.

“My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it’s really good the whole time,” she said on the Fly on the Wall podcast. “I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season 3 or Season 4.”

Fischer continued, “And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren’t as good. But when I watched everything, some of my favorite episodes were in Seasons 8 and 9 after Steve had left. There were still these amazing storylines.”

A TV star got fired for sneaking into a Saturday Night Live party
Image
How far would you go just to rub shoulders with the stars of Saturday Night Live? For one future television star, losing her job was worth the price of admission to party with her SNL idols.

The Office star Jenna Fischer joined the Fly on the Wall podcast to tell hosts David Spade and Dana Carvey all about her once-in-a-lifetime SNL experience. It came years before the country came to know Fischer as Pam Beesley.

Fischer was working as a typist covering TV Critics Association events. One minor perk of the otherwise unglamours job was that Fischer could attend certain events once her work was done.

So when the opportunity arose to attend a Saturday Night Live party in Los Angeles, Fischer was willing to risk it all. "I started pretending like I didn't feel good because I was going to make an excuse that I was soick so that...

Jenna Fischer Says ‘The Office’ Wasn’t “Treading Water” After Steve Carell’s Exit: “It’s Really Good the Whole Time”
Image
Jenna Fischer thinks The Office has always been a hit — with or without Steve Carell.

During a Wednesday appearance on Fly on the Wall, Fischer shared her “biggest takeaway” after doing a full rewatch of the beloved mockumentary sitcom on her Office Ladies podcast. Despite a “belief” that the show was “just treading water” after Carell left the series in 2011, Fischer thinks the show was “really good” during its full nine-season tenure.

“It’s really good the whole time,” she said, adding that there was “this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren’t as good.”

Fischer, too, pointed out that there was “this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in season three or season four” long before Carell exited the series.

After doing a complete rewatch, the Mean Girls actor admitted...

Jenna Fischer Says This Hot Take About The Office Is Totally Wrong
Image
Ask most fans of "The Office" and they'll tell you that the show gets worse as it goes on, even though I use "worse" here as a relative term — because even the lowest lows of "The Office" are still decent television. Star Jenna Fischer totally disagrees with that assessment, though. In fact, Fischer, who played Pam Beesly-Halpert for the entire nine season run, thinks the show is just great from start to finish.

During an appearance on David Spade and Dana Carvey's podcast "Fly on the Wall," Fischer said that, as she revisits "The Office" alongside her friend and co-star Angela Kinsey — who appeared on the series as accountant Angela Martin and co-hosts "Office Ladies," a rewatch podcast, with Fischer — she feels like it's all good.

"My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it's really good the whole time," she said bluntly, clearly referring to the idea...

The Office Star Pushes Back on Fans Saying the Show Suffered After Steve Carell's Exit
Image
The Office was a sitcom phenomenon that still stands as an iconic influence on modern television. The Office followed the misadventures of an office team for a paper supply company overseen by Michael Scott, who was played by Steve Carell.

The Office changed forever in Season 7 when Carell exited the show. He only had a seven-season contract and he didn't want to renew it, preferring to spend more time with his family and focus on other work. Michael Scott had a good ending - he left Scranton to be with his one true love Holly and raise a family with her - but many fans weren't happy.

Some of them thought the show should have just ended when Carell and Michael left, because the show tried to replace Michael with other characters. For example, one replacement was Catherine Tate's Nellie, and her entrance just didn't work in the eyes of many.

Jenna Fischer Believes That ‘The Office’ Seasons Without Steve Carell Were Okay After All
Image
Everyone loves The Office — or at least the seasons in which Steve Carell led the madness as the amiably incompetent Michael Scott. If she were being completely honest, one viewer who might have agreed that the Carell seasons were best is Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly/Halpert. “I think there was this lore, especially among the cast and the creatives, that maybe we hit our peak in Season Three or Season Four,” Fischer told Dana Carvey and David Spade this week on the Fly on the Wall podcast. “And also this belief that the two seasons after Steve left, we were just treading water and maybe they weren’t as good.”

Emmy voters showed The Office a lot of love in its first three seasons, then got enamored with shiny new shows. “I think some of the award nominations stopped after Season Three,” Fischer remembered. “So I think maybe...

'The Office' Star Jenna Fischer Defends Last Seasons Without Steve Carell
Image
Jenna Fischer, the actor who played Pam Beesly in the U.S. version of the beloved sitcom The Office, is speaking out in favor of the often criticized last seasons of the NBC show. Steve Carell's character Michael Scott, Dunder Mifflin's regional manager of the Scranton branch, retired during Season 7 of the show. Despite some fans believing the show had lost its purpose after that, it continued for two more seasons that contained what Fischer now refers to as "amazing storylines."

Fischer appeared on the podcast hosted by Dana Carvey and David Spade, Fly on the Wall. She recalled the recording of her own podcast with co-star Angela Kinsey, Office Ladies, which consisted of the duo rewatching all 201 episodes of the show. "My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it's really good the whole time," Fischer said about the rewatch experience. She also noted that her favorite episode was "Dinner Party,...

Jenna Fischer Says the Later Seasons of ‘The Office’ Are ‘Really Good’ Despite ‘Belief’ that the Show Was ‘Treading Water’ After Steve Carell’s Exit: ‘There Were Still These Amazing Storylines’

As one of the show’s most iconic characters, it’s fitting that Jenna Fischer has love for every season of “The Office.”

Fischer, who played Pam Beesly across 188 episodes of the classic NBC workplace comedy, revisited all 201 episodes of “The Office” and documented her journey on her “Office Ladies” podcast. She finished the series in October, and in a recent conversation on Dana Carvey and David Spade’s “Fly on the Wall” podcast, she shared one of her major takeaways.

“My biggest takeaway from having rewatched it was that it’s really good the whole time,” Fischer said.

She explained that there is a consensus that after series frontman Steve Carell exited the show in Season 7, the series took a nose dive in quality. However, upon her rewatch, Fischer found this to be a misconception.

Now, the workplace comedy universe surrounding the paper company is set to expand further with the upcoming spinoff series titled The Paper. And with this continued expansion, perhaps it’s also time for NBC to reconsider another canceled spinoff.

Before The Paper, there were already plans for a different spinoff centered around the Schrute family farm, with Rainn Wilson set to reprise his role as Dwight Schrute. The project, known as The Farm, was ultimately canceled by NBC before it could move forward.
