4 Chicago Fire characters who could be leaving the show in the episode "Post Mortem"
Image
Chicago Fire is gearing up for the biggest episode of season 13 thus far. The way the episode "Post Mortem" has been hyped by actors and producers, you'd think it was a season finale. A character will be caught in the rubble of a collapsed building, and may very well die as a result of their injuries.

To make matters even worse, Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) is coming in to investigate what went wrong, and all signs point to the former 51 Chief firing whoever he deems responsible for the tragedy. That's potentially two Chicago Fire characters gone in the span of a single episode. Naturally, we have some thoughts.

We don't know who will end up going down in "Post Mortem," but these are the most likely candidates based on the context of season 13.

6 Chicago Fire, Med and Pd characters who deserve a little more love from the writers
Image
There are some One Chicago characters that are overlooked more than others. We’re taking a look at the six that deserve a little more love from the writers, across Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago Pd.

Let’s face it, Chicago Fire can sometimes become the Stellaride show. There has been a push to offer Violet and Ritter more storylines, but there is always a lot of focus on the two lieutenants in the firehouse. That’s not to say we’re complaining—we love them! However, there are others at Firehouse 51 who deserve more love and attention.

Likewise, there are doctors and officers at Med and in Intelligence who need to get a little more airtime.

Chicago Fire boss confirms life updates on This beloved couple in season 13
Image
Chicago Fire has had lots of couples come and go over the years. We just saw one of them, Stellaride, decide to adopt a child in a recent episode. It can be extremely satisfying to watch characters find the right one for them and ride off into the sunset, ostensibly offscreen.

It can be tough, though, when we want to know what happened to them, or how they are doing. Well, thankfully, Chicago Fire is going to satiate this desire. Andrea Newman, Fire's showrunner, confirmed that we will be getting updates on a couple that left during season 12 and moved to Oregon.

Chicago Fire season 13, episode 11 recap and review: "In the Trenches Part I"
Image
.The One Chicago 2025 crossover event kicked off with an episode of Chicago Fire. It made sense with a major call being the thing that would pull the three shows together. We’re breaking the crossover down in three parts. Here’s the recap for Chicago Fire season 13, episode 11.

Just as a note, I’ll recap Chicago Fire and Chicago Med here. You can get my Chicago Pd coverage over on Precinct TV. I’ll include the link to make it easier.

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Chicago Fire season 13, episode 11.

The episode kicks off with Kidd and Severide talking about plans for the long weekend and then jumps to Mouch sharing that he’s going to have to make it up to Trudy when he didn’t return home so he could “keep up” with the other future lieutenants. It was clear future hoping that may not play out...

New Chicago Fire logline confirms Stella Kidd's fate after crossover drama
Image
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) has been through the ringer the last few years. She's gotten married, sure, but she has also had her life threatened multiple times, and suffered a shrapnel injury after a big house explosion in season 11. The One Chicago crossover didn't make things any easier.

As the promo showed, Kidd was one of two One Chicago leads who were trapped underground following an explosion. She was forced to sit tight and aid the civilians who were trapped with her while Chicago Med, Pd and Fire worked together to rescue them. It looked like things were going to end poorly for Kidd when oxygen began to drop, but a funny thing happened in the lead up to the One Chicago crossover airing.

‘One Chicago’ Three-Way Crossover Event Brings Explosions, Trauma for Major Cast: “It Feels Like a Movie”
Image
Picture this: An underground explosion sends massive flames up a downtown high-rise building, injuring several people — some left fighting for their lives — who are now trapped underground in the city’s stalled “L” subway system, leaving a distraught, tearful Chicago Fire Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) assessing the scene.

Such a scenario could only mean one thing for viewers of this Wednesday’s One Chicago event on NBC: The three-hour crossover episode for Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. has begun.

The first One Chicago crossover since 2019 brings together all of NBC’s Chicago-based first responder dramas. Chicago Fire will take the lead when the action kicks off at 8 p.m., before rolling into Med at 9 p.m. and P.D. at 10 p.m.

Chicago Pd boss confirms crossover 'tension' between Voight and Severide
Image
One Chicago's crossover event will be the most ambitious in franchise history. Fans have never gotten to see a storyline that so thoroughly integrates every character across all three shows. This is especially exciting with regard to the veteran characters.

The promo for the crossover event confirms that established One Chicago faces will be leading the charge. Some of them will be put in harm's way, like Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), while others will be running around and trying to save them.

Hank Voight is not liked by Firehouse 51 Chicago P.D. -- "Pawns" Episode 12006 -- Pictured: Jason Beghe as Hank Voight

The fact that Kidd, a Chicago Fire character, and Ruzek, a Chicago Pd character, will be in danger means that their respective teams will be forced to work together to ensure they have it out of their situation in one piece.

Chicago Fire star teases role reversal for Cruz and his brother in season 13
Image
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) has been the central focus of Chicago Fire over the last few episodes. It's easy to see why. The character has broken lots of rules, dating back to season one, and his past caught up with him in a big way.

Cruz was able to come clean about his mistakes with minimal punishment. Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) gave him a slap on the wrist, aka two week suspension without pay. The peace that's been made with 51 superiors does not mean that Cruz is out of the woods, though.

'Chicago Fire' Season 13 Release Schedule
Image
Six episodes remain in Chicago Fire's 13th Season, rounding out a 15-part arc airing on NBC between September 2024 and February 2025. Of course, with the NFL's 59th Superbowl slated for February 9, 2025, some releases could shift to accommodate the big game. As such, it's worth keeping track of when, how, and where to catch the final six chapters of the long-running medical procedural.

When Chicago Fire returns for Season 13, Episode 10, "Chaos Theory," much of the drama will focus on a community center emergency that requires a response from the Chicago Fire Department team. Elsewhere, Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) may expose a corrupt team member, an internal department struggle that will surely set up the drama in the remaining five episodes. Without further ado, Chicago Fire's Season 13 release schedule lies ahead.

Chicago Fire star claims Cruz Won't escape season 13 "unscathed"
Image
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) was minding his own business. The character is married with two kids, and he has not be the instigator behind trouble at least a handful of seasons. Unfortunately, a past decision has come back to haunt to the Chicago Fire fan favorite.

The season 13 winter premiere saw Cruz make some of the worst decisions of his career. He not only stole equipment from his firehouse, but he helped an ex convict break into a property and attempt to commit theft. Things went even worse when they got inside. A firefight broke out, and Cruz was hit in the arm.

Chicago Fire winter premiere details: Severide returns, Mouch in action, and more
Image
Chicago Fire is finally back with new episodes.

The long winter hiatus has ended and Chicago Fire Season 13 continues on Wednesday, January 8.

The winter premiere is the ninth episode of the season, and it’s called A Favor.

It’s great news that NBC is returning to regular programming following the holiday break.

It’s also exciting that January 2025 is packed with new content for the One Chicago shows.

When we last saw the Chicago Fire cast, Christopher Herrmann (played by David Eigenberg) and Randy “Mouch” McHolland (Christian Stolte) were taking tests to get promoted.

Herrmann has his eyes on the former seat of Chief Wallace Boden, while Mouch wants to become a lieutenant before he retires.

Chicago Fire: What happened to Kelly Severide and why wasn’t he in the latest episode?
David Eigenberg, Hanako Greensmith, Taylor Kinney, Joe Minoso, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Jocelyn Hudon in Chicago Fire (2012)
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 8, was missing Kelly Severide.

Long-time star Taylor Kinney wasn’t in the episode, raising concerns among fans about why he was gone.

The great news is that Severide will return. There’s no need to bury the lede on that fact.

Kinney remains the star of the Chicago Fire cast and will be featured in many more episodes this winter and spring.

With so many recent departures from the Chicago Fire cast, it’s understandable why fans might get worried.

Some big exits have been seen in recent seasons, including Firefighter Matthew Casey (played by Jesse Spencer), Paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), and Firefighter Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).

Chicago Fire fans were also shocked when Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) said goodbye during the Season 12 finale.

Best and worst episodes of Chicago Fire season 13 so far (according to IMDb)
Image
Chicago Fire is the longest-running series in the One Chicago franchise. It has been able to balance the melodrama of Chicago Med and the grittiness of Chicago Pd and produce episode after episode of entertaining, firehouse-based shenanigans.

Of course, not every episode is made equal. Some of them nail this balance, and are able to produce an hour of television that gives ample screen time to each of its characters. Others try, but simply fail to hit the mark by virtue of a boring subplot or a misplaced character motivation.

We're here to discuss these highs and lows. Chicago Fire is halfway through its 13th season, and as such, we decided to comb through IMDb and determine which episode has been deemed the best, and which has been deemed the worst. The results may surprise you.

NBC Sets Major Three-Part 'Chicago' Crossover Event for January

NBC is bringing together the Voltron of public service shows on their One Chicago franchise - Med, Fire, and P.D. - for a TV crossover event early next year. Dick Wolf's company produces the franchise, and this event marks the first time three Wolf-made series have crossed over since 2019. Anastasia Puglisi, executive vice president of Wolf Entertainment and co-executive producer of all three series told Varitey:

"Putting together what is essentially a three-hour action movie is an incredibly ambitious task requiring complete coordination across our writers, casts, crews and producers, along with help from the city of Chicago. We’re thrilled to have the best talent in every department to meet this challenge, reinforce the #OneChicago brand and provide our fans with a unique and compelling viewing experience."

Chicago Fire's highest rated season 13 episode (so far) might surprise you
Image
Chicago Fire has had an interesting season 13. The show has gone through lots of changes, be it the arrival of Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) or the departure of Jack Damon (Michael Bradway). It hasn't been the highest rated in terms of fan reception, but season 13 has seen a steady uptick in IMDb scores as its worn on.

This is a positive sign, given that the two lowest rated episodes of the season were the first two. Most of Chicago Fire's current season has floated around the high 7s in terms of user score, but there is an episode that has stood out from the rest for positive reasons. Fans have given this episode an 8.1 on IMDb, making it the only episode from season 13 to cross the 8 mark (so far).

Chicago Fire: Joe Cruz's brother has a touching connection to the late Otis
Image
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) was the unexpected star of Chicago Fire's fall finale. The character took center stage with a subplot that involved his younger brother and the relative of a gang member he failed to save during season 1.

It's been a long time since fans have gotten to see Joe Cruz's brother, Leon (Jeff Lima). He was a consistent presence throughout season 1, but he has only made sporadic appearances since then. He dropped by for single episode cameos in seasons 7 and 8, and his return in the season 13 fall finale marks his first appearance since the birth of Cruz's son.

Chicago Fire winter premiere promo may have revealed massive Mouch spoiler
Image
We were all a bit frustrated by the Chicago Fire fall finale. There was good stuff, to be clear, but a lot of the excitement going into the episode is whether Mouch (Christian Stolte) would be able to pass the captain test and set himself up for a major promotion.

The episode ended without giving fans a concrete answer, ensuring that we come back for the winter premiere in January. Here's the thing, though. Chicago Fire issued a promo for the winter premiere, and it may have spoiled what became of Mouch after he took the captain test.

Mouch is seemingly in a new Truck 81 role

It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but eagle-eyed viewers have theorized that Mouch is actually sitting in Truck 81 around the promo's five second mark. The veteran character appears to be sitting in the lieutenant seat of the truck, which is a spot and title typically occupied...

Chicago Fire fall finale: What happened to Kelly Severide?
David Eigenberg, Hanako Greensmith, Taylor Kinney, Joe Minoso, Miranda Rae Mayo, and Jocelyn Hudon in Chicago Fire (2012)
The Chicago Fire fall finale aired on Wednesday night, wrapping up the 2024 episodes of the firefighting drama.

But many One Chicago fans took notice of a glaring absence, leading viewers to worry about what happened to Severide.

Actor Taylor Kinney plays Firefighter Kelly Severide and has been for 13 seasons. He is one of the original characters from the One Chicago shows.

During Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 8, Severide was absent, with no scenes involving the fan-favorite character.

Severide’s absence was explained early in the episode during one of those character conversations the Chicago Fire writers use to convey plot points.

If a character is gone and we won’t see them during that particular episode, the writers try to create a narrative that comes up while other characters are chatting.

A 5-Year One Chicago Curse Is Finally Being Broken
Image
Exciting news has been revealed for One Chicago fans. A major crossover event is planned to soon air on NBC, bringing together all three One Chicago shows for the first time since before the pandemic.

Per TVLine, NBC is planning a one-night crossover event for Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. The storyline will reportedly focus on a "massive explosion in an office building that upends the entire city (above and below ground)." The last time all three shows were brought together was in Oct. 2019, several months before the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic and last year's Hollywood strikes both contributed to the delay in finally getting another One Chicago crossover event put together for NBC.

Severide and Pascal want to do the right thing in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 7. The problem is that this will put those close to them at risk.

I adore Pascal in the promo for the new episode. As it’s pointed out that arson is almost impossible to prove, Pascal nods to Severide and says “Not for him.” This is a man who knows how good Severide is at his job. He knows that arson is his calling.

It’s not surprising that he knows this.

Chicago Fires New Chief Isnt Who You Expected
Image
When Chicago Fire debuts its 13th season on NBC on September 25, 2024, fans will meet a new chief leading Firehouse 51 in a sudden dramatic cast overhaul bound to bear serious narrative consequences. When the show left off in Season 12, all eyes turned to longtime Battalion Chief Wallace Boden's (Eammon Walker) departure and his potential replacement, with most believing senior firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) would assume the mantle.

According to Deadline, Firehouse 51 will appoint a new Battalion Fire Chief during the Season 13 premiere, although the move could be temporary and is subject to change later in the season. Regardless, the abrupt cast shakeup promises to steer the long-running TV procedural into an exciting new direction.
