Prime Video’s treatment of The Wheel of Time the last month has been one of the more disappointing stories of the year thus far, and yet another creative involved with the show has broken their silence. Amazon announced near the end of May that it would not be moving forward with a fourth season of The Wheel of Time, despite cast and creators involved with the show expressing a desire to return and continue the story. One of the creatives involved with the series is Brandon Sanderson, the acclaimed fantasy author who finished The Wheel of Time novel series following original author Robert Jordan’s passing in 2007. Sanderson spoke about the cancellation during a video on his YouTube channel, even expressing frustration with how certain elements of the fantasy series were handled:

The Wheel of Time has been canceled after three seasons at Amazon’s Prime Video streamer.
The series, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios and based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling series of fantasy novels, aired its third-season finale on April 17.
At the time, showrunner Rafe Judkins, who adapted the series for television, addressed the show’s uncertain future in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Judkins said he’d been asking Amazon, “What is the end game for the show? I really want to deliver this full series, so how do we best do that?”
He argued that part of why he and his creative team chose Amazon was because the streamer “felt like a place where they do want to invest in shows for the long term. There are not a lot of places doing that anymore. For Wheel of Time, it’s really important for...

The fate of Amazon's fantasy adaptationThe Wheel of Timehas been revealed, and fans of the series will be devastated. Despite Season 3 being the best-reviewed chapter of the show, Amazon has decided to move on due to the nature of its big-budget production. It was the most popular title on Prime Video when it premiered, but the streaming numbers were simply not enough to justify the investment, according to reports.
According to Deadline, The Wheel of Time has been canceled after three seasons. The report claims that the reason was almost entirely finance-related, as the production was still "liked creatively by the streamer’s executives." The Wheel of Time Season 3 premiered earlier this year to widespread acclaim, with critic reviews garnering the fantasy series an excellent 97% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. According to previous reports, it cost Amazon $250 million to make the first two seasons of the The Wheel of Time.

“The Wheel of Time” has run out its run at Prime Video. The Rosamund Pike-led adaptation of the fantasy novel series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson will not return for Season 4 at the streaming platform, TheWrap has learned.
The news comes after Prime Video announced the renewal of its other big-budget drama series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” for Season 3. Amid industry contraction, high-budget fantasy dramas seem prone for the chopping block across linear and streaming. “The Wheel of Time” is believed to have been too expensive to justify given its viewership performance.
“The Wheel Of Time” launched strong, becoming Prime Video’s most-watched series premiere of 2021 and one of the platform’s top debuts of all time. Season 3 saw its viewership slip, leaving Nielsen’s top 10 originals chart after three weeks, before making one last appearance after the launch of its finale.

Exclusive: Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations. As often is the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer’s executives.
The TV adaptation of the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios, is a high-end, pricey fantasy drama, which ushered in the genre on Prime Video, later joined by The Lord Of the Rings: The Rings Of Power.
Starring Rosamund Pike, The Wheel Of Time got off to a strong start in 2021 as Prime Video’s most watched series premiere of the year and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time.

Exclusive: Talisa Garcia, Karan Gill, Elizabeth Berrington and Christian Cooke have joined the cast of the Suranne Jones- and Jodie Whittaker-starring ITV drama series Frauds.
As we revealed in January, the buzzy six-part drama from Ghosts producer Monumental Television stars Jones and Whittaker as a pair of confidence tricksters in southern Spain separated by a 10-year jail spell. Jones’ Bert attempts to lure Whittaker’s Sam out of retirement for one final multi-million pound art heist, but their toxic friendship could ruin them both before they pull off the job.
García joins the cast as Miss Take, a smart, funny, and acerbic Spanish trans woman in her fifties who hosts drag bingo at the club on the Costa del Sol. However, she feels drag is now holding her back and and Bert and Sam, despite their thorny history, might just be able to offer her salvation.

A new behind-the-scenes video from The Wheel of Time season 3 explains how the One Power VFX were created for key action scenes in the fantasy show. The Wheel of Time season 3 contained a number of high-octane fight sequences across its eight episodes, which included many characters channeling the One Power to do battle. Some of these battles included season 3, episode 1's fight in the White Tower between Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), as well as Rand's (Josha Stradowski) fight with Sammael (Cameron Jack) in season 3, episode 6.
Now, ScreenRant presents a video from Framestore detailing the VFX used to make The Wheel of Time season 3's One Power come to life. The video shows off various scenes from across the season where characters use the One Power. It also highlights how channeling was digitally crafted in various scenes, such as Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) using Sakarnen for the first time,...

Not long after The Wheel of Time showrunner likened the series to Game of Thrones in a Season 4 update, Rafe Judkins is back to deliver yet another outlook on the show’s future. The Wheel of Time Season 3 wrapped up in an explosive finale on April 17, “He Who Comes with the Dawn,” but the show has yet to be renewed for Season 4 at Prime Video, despite an extremely positive reception thus far. The fantasy series is based on the popular novels by Robert Jordan, and there’s still plenty of story left to tell. During a recent interview with THR, The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins previewed the future of the franchise, promising a different Season 4 if the crew gets the chance to make it, but also citing differences in the TV landscape:
"That is the same thing that I’ve been sort of asking Amazon — what is the end game for the show?...

The Wheel of Time season 3 just came to an end with the release of episode 8, "He Who Comes With the Dawn." It was an incredible episode with lots of moving parts, epic sequences, and surprises, honestly, that I was not expecting to see.
I shared the major plot points of The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 8 and how it sets up The Wheel of Time season 4. Ultimately, I think there are four important points that casual fans like me need to remember as we leave The Wheel of Time season 3 behind.
Let's get things started with one of my favorite characters in the show, Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), who gets into an absolutely iconic battle with the real demon of the season, Lanfear (Natasha O'Keeffe).
Moiraine almost kills Lanfear

The season 3 finale for The Wheel of Time has arrived, and it's an epic 68 minutes of television which serves as a major turning point for Prime Video's fantasy series. Before this, Rand al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, and all the rest of our heroes from the Two Rivers still had some semblance of their old lives. But now those chapters are well and truly closed, lives have been lost, and nothing will ever be the same.
"He Who Comes With The Dawn" features a number of huge twists and turns, and we've been having a blast going through them all. We were also lucky enough to interview several members of the cast who provided some incredible insights into the finale, how it was filmed, and what might be looming on the horizon for their characters.

The finale of The Wheel of Time season 3 is here, and it's a massive affair with major twists and turns for just about every character. "He Who Comes With The Dawn" finally solidifies Rand al'Thor as the Car'a'carn of the Aiel, dramatizing a key moment from Robert Jordan's book series from which there is no return. Over the course of its 68-minute runtime, the episode rearranges all our favorite characters on the board; there will be no going back to the way things were.

It's been a winding road, but we've arrived at the season finale for The Wheel of Time. Across its third season, Prime Video's epic fantasy show has captured our hearts and blown our minds with its drama, action, ambition, romance and scope. We began in the city of Tar Valon, where the Black Ajah made a bloody escape and our young heroes from Emond's Field went their separate ways. From there we went to the deserts of the Aiel Waste, the forests of the Two Rivers, and the hills of Tanchico. It's been quite a ride, and it's all led to this.
"He Who Comes With The Dawn" is a powerful finale, but it's also the episode I've been anticipating will most divide fans, especially those who have read Robert Jordan's books. Because while this is a rock solid hour of television, it makes bold choices.

Late tonight, Prime Video will drop the season 3 finale of The Wheel of Time, its stellar adaptation of Robert Jordan's high fantasy book series. TV Insider has a new clip from the finale. Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) is hanging out in the city of Tanchico with other sisters of the Black Ajah. One of them is fiddling with a rod that seems to spark at the end. Liandrin tells her to put that thing down, because it "actually creates balefire."
Balefire is an incredibly destructive magical weapon within the world of The Wheel of Time. Not only can it kill people, but it also removes them from the Pattern, making it like they never existed. It has yet to show up on The Wheel of Time TV show despite featuring heavily in the books, so this is a decently big deal. And I doubt that they'd bring up balefire if...

The Wheel of Time season 3, episode 8, will be released at 12:00 a.m. Pt / 3:00 a.m. Et on Thursday, April 17.
Unfortunately, that's not a great time for those on the East Coast who want to stay up late to watch the season finale. On the other hand, if you live on the West Coast, you only have to stay up until about 2 a.m. Pt to watch the season 3 finale.
Right now, we don't know the episode title. We don't have the synopsis for the new episode, but we do have something better: a look at the new episode.

Last month, Netflix debuted yet another stunning-looking animated series. Wolf Kingroared into the streamer's catalog and quickly became one of 2025's earliest hits. Is it me, or does every episode of The Wheel of Time feel like a movie? Given how epic and cinematic the story has become, we should be watching this show in a theater.
I’ll say one thing about the show: It has no shortage of incredibly complex characters who are more layered than the average person. And this story? It’s fully immersive, with the action practically flying off the screen.
The Wheel of Time has not slowed down for a moment during the third season. But how could it, with so many characters moving in the shadows, each with their own plots and agendas?
(Courtesy of Prime Video)
The only thing I might have to ding the series for is being a little unclear about what everyone is trying to accomplish. Technically, I’m mostly talking about the bad guys.

The Wheel of Time season 3 is in full swing, and it feels like it's just getting better with each new episode. The fourth of the season, "The Road to the Spear," was a sweeping epic that saw reincarnated messiah Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) go on a surreal vision quest through the lives of his ancestors. The next, "Tel'aran'rhiod," vastly expanded the world of the series, introducing new locations and cultures as our heroes explored the homeland of the Aiel Waste and sailed the high seas with the Sea Folk.
This week's episode will continue to explore more of The Wheel of Time world by giving us ample time in the seaside city of Tanchico. The nefarious sisters of the Black Ajah have set up camp there to search for a dangerous artifact which could give them power of the Dragon Reborn. At their head is Liandrin Guirale, played by English actress Kate Fleetwood.

The third season of The Wheel of Time is off to a fantastic start on Prime Video. The streaming service released three episodes last week, and they didn’t disappoint.
Although the show is scrambling the events from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series a bit, these episodes did a good job of making that change relatively seamless without losing any momentum built up during the action-packed finale to season 2.
Without focusing too much on the differences between the books and the show, audiences can appreciate the visual smorgasbord the show delivers with aplomb. So far, The Wheel of Time is a prime example of how a quality fantasy story can be told on the small screen.

This week, Prime Video premiered the third season of The Wheel of Time, its sweeping epic fantasy series based on the books by Robert Jordan. Out of the gate, it's become obvious that this is a much darker, more complex chapter for Amazon's fantasy show. There are new villains, the heroes are facing more difficult challenges, and factions are rising and falling.
There's a lot of that going on in the White Tower, the stronghold of the Aes Sedai sorceresses in the city of Tar Valon. Two out of the first three episodes of the season had the tower taking some serious hits. In the premiere, Liandrin Guirale (Kate Fleetwood) and her fellow Black Ajah defectors turned the inner sanctum of the tower into a battleground as they fought their way out of the city. Then in Episode 302, Queen Morgase Trakand (Olivia Williams) arrived to demand answers for the abduction...

Now that The Wheel of Time‘s third season is up and rolling on Prime Video, can we talk about that mind-blowing White Tower throwdown?! Prime Video After two seasons of scheming against her own sisterhood, the magic-channeling Aes Sedai, villainous Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood) faced a tribunal overseen by Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), the Amerlyn Seat of the sect. But instead of facing up to her fealty to the Dark One, Liandrin mobilized her fellow traitorous Black Ajahs and shizzz went down. “We’ve been working on this for such a long time and we were so excited, even from the writing phase, about getting to put up this set piece that can really only be in The Wheel of Time,” admits showrunner Rafe Judkins of the spell-weaving, wall-crumbling, Aes-kicking spectacle. “And so having it out in the world now and people starting to see it is just really exciting.” Prime Video As fans know,...

Plot: After defeating Ishamael, one of the most powerful of the Forsaken, at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends in the city of Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season Three, the threats against the Light are multiplying: the White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon… including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both. As the ties to his past begin to unravel, and his corrupted power grows stronger, Rand becomes increasingly unrecognizable to his closest allies, Moiraine and Egwene. The sci-fi and fantasy TV world always seems on a paradoxical precipice: Too many good shows get canceled, yet too many keep returning to television. Not that we’re complaining about the latter.
Several long-awaited shows from some of the biggest franchises around, including Marvel, Star Wars, Doctor Who, and The Walking Dead, will return in 2025. Given that most TV shows take a year or longer at least to release the next season, it can be hard to keep track of where we left off in the story. And without catching up with the previous seasons, one could unintentionally commit what is considered in the sci-fi or fantasy community the ultimate blunder: not understanding the references or Easter eggs.

Prime Video released ten first-look images for ‘The Wheel of Time’s’ upcoming third season, which will debut globally on 13th March 2025.
In the series, a humble farm boy, Rand al’Thor, learns he is The Dragon Reborn—a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. After defeating Ishamael, one of the most powerful of the Forsaken, at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends in the city of Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn.
