From the blue collar world of
Roseanne (1988) to the heartwarming
drama 7th Heaven (1996), Dan
Foliart's music has flavored every human emotion. Raised in Oklahoma to
a prominent trial lawyer, Dan attended Amherst College to follow in his
father's footsteps, but by his junior year he succumbed to his true
passion, music.
Transferring to the University of Southern California Dan quickly got down to business, scoring his first feature _The Only Way Home (1972)_ with Tom Shapiro. After returning to Amherst to receive his B.A., he once again ventured west, teaming with Howard Pearl to score his first television series Angie (1979). Happy Days (1974), Laverne & Shirley (1976), Mary (1985), Joanie Loves Chachi (1982), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990) and many others soon followed suit.
Using his songwriting melodic capabilities, Dan has also written many of the best-remembered television themes of the 1980's and 90's - "Home Improvement", "Roseanne", "Bosom Buddies", and "Carol & Company" are just a few. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and Emmy nominations.
The State of Oklahoma commissioned Dan to write an orchestral piece for the Centennial of the Land Run of 1889. "Oklahoma Trilogy" is a tribute to Dan's boyhood home and is still performed throughout the state today.
