'The Perfect Gentleman': Anjelica Huston Remembers Addams Family Co-Star Raul Julia
Image
The Addams Family movie cast has nothing but fond memories of their Gomez Addams, Raul Julia.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Anjelica Huston, Christina Ricci, Jimmy Workman, Christopher Lloyd, and Carel Struycken attended an L.A. Comic Con panel celebrating the legacy of 1991's The Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values. During the panel, the cast members -- minus Carol Kane, who replaced Judith Malina in Addams Family Values as Grandmama -- talked about Julia's Gomez performance, with Huston describing the late actor as "the perfect gentleman" on set.

'The Terror' Season 1 Ending Explained - Does the Crew Survive the Monster?
Image
Despair, panic, and fear are maintained in an undulating icy thrum throughout AMC's The Terror, where the true account of Captain Sir John Franklin's (Ciarn Hinds) lost expedition is intertwined with fantastical horror elements that send frostbite to our trembling hands. This grim thread follows the series all the way to its haunting finale, where the inevitable conclusion befalls us, yet still nothing could have prepared us for the abysmal sight we are left to grapple with. Season 1 of the anthology series embraced us with the warmth of a jovial atmosphere, where the ambitious captains and crews of the ships Hms Erebus and Hms Terror could not have fathomed the dismal fate awaiting them.

What Is the Monster Killing the Crew From 'The Terror' Season 1?
Image
Back when Lost was a thing, a major hook for audiences was the introduction of polar bears to what appeared to be an otherwise tropical island. Fast-forward nearly 15 years and that hook is still in people's minds, especially for those of us who have become ensnared by AMC's period-piece mystery/thriller/drama The Terror. A twist on the real-life tale of Captain Sir John Franklin's 19th century voyage to find a way through the icy, treacherous Northwest Passage, the crews of the Hms Erebus and Hms Terror find themselves hunted by a mysterious and massive creature.

AMC's The Terror Becomes a Netflix Hit Ahead of Anticipated Third Season
Image
The first season of AMC's acclaimed horror anthology series, The Terror, is making waves on Netflix. According to ReelGood, The Terror landed in the tenth spot among the top shows across all streaming platforms for the week of August 22 through 28. Netflix (which holds the most subscribers of any streaming service) is introducing the series to wider audiences, which is being discovered, or rediscovered in some cases, six years after its original premiere. It's all in good timing, too, as The Terror was greenlit for a third season in February.

The Terror arrived on Netflix in August after a deal between the streamer and AMC. That deal also saw several other popular AMC shows, including the critically lauded Interview with the Vampire and Dark Winds, make their debut on the streaming platform.

The Monster In The Terror Explained & Its Meaning
Image
The Terror's monster, the Tuunbaq, is a crucial element in the show, representing more than just a typical antagonist. Inspired by real Inuit mythology, the Tuunbaq embodies themes of nature's resilience against human encroachment. The Tuunbaq's fate is a metaphor for the crew's impact on the environment, showcasing the consequences of humanity's intrusion.

The Terror is a harrowing horror story incorporating psychological strife and physical hardship, but perhaps the heart of the story is a mysterious and terrifying monster that stalks the show's main characters. Because of the show's emphasis on psychological disintegration and how extreme suffering can push anyone beyond breaking point, The Terror is not a traditional monster-themed horror. Nevertheless, the importance of the series' monster cannot be understated.

Based on the 2007 novel of the same name, The Terror is a fictionalized account of the real-life Franklin expedition that fatefully set out to discover the fabled Northwest Passage through the Arctic.

"The Terror" is a prestigious AMC horror anthology series with exceptional ensemble casts in varying historical settings. Season 1 follows the Arctic expedition of Hms Terror and Erebus, while Season 2 explores Japanese folklore during WWII. Lead actors like Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, and Ciarn Hinds have made significant contributions to the series.

Now that it's gaining traction on Netflix, there's hope that The Terror season 3 will be a hit, particularly after star Dan Stevens signed on to be the new season's lead.

As mentioned, The Terror is an anthology series, meaning each season has a different cast of characters.

The Terror True Story: What Happened To Hms Terror & Erebus In Real Life
Image
The Terror is a horror anthology series that delves into real and haunting historical events, like the doomed Arctic expedition of Sir John Franklin. Captain Franklin's ill-fated journey to find the Northwest Passage ended tragically, with both ships becoming icebound and the crew disappearing. The legacy of the Erebus and Terror lives on, reshaped by AMC's The Terror, which brings attention to forgotten history through a chilling lens.

In the first season of AMC's The Terror, the series follows Captain Sir John Franklin's doomed expedition to the Arctic in the 1840s, which just so happens to be a real and terrifying incident. The Terror is a horror anthology series that first premiered in 2018. Every season follows a new story rooted in some of the most horrific times in history. For example, season 2 takes place in an American Japanese internment camp, while The Terror season 3 will delve into the disturbing conditions at a psychiatric hospital.

Dan Stevens' Upcoming Horror Is A Reminder To Watch This Underrated Marvel Show With 91% Rt Score
Image
Dan Stevens' new show, The Terror season 3, is similar to Legion, exploring psychiatric hospital settings and supernatural forces. The Terror's new season is set to be appealing to fans of Dan Stevens and dark themes. Legion, despite critical acclaim, suffered from bad timing in a superhero-saturated market, making it an underrated gem.

Dan Stevens will star in The Terror season 3, and based on the description, it sounds a lot like his underrated Marvel series. The Terror is a horror anthology series that has been airing on AMC since 2018. Each season follows the terrifying experiences around specific historical events or eras. While the first season concerned Captain Sir John Franklin's 1845 travels to the Arctic and season 2 focused on an American-run Japanese internment camp, The Terror season 3 is gearing up to focus on the disturbing conditions of old psychiatric hospitals.

The Terror cast Dan Stevens as its new star. Reportedly,...

The Circle Season 4: Inside Alyssa & Brus Relationship Post-Filming
Image
Bru & Alyssa's flirtation on The Circle was for the game, as they talked about dating outside the show. Bru has been in a relationship since 2021 with Anna Sitar, despite lying about his relationship status on the show. Alyssa is in a relationship with Catfish John Franklin, sharing their love on social media since mid-2022.

After The Circle season 4 ended in 2022, there were questions about the relationship status of Alyssa Ljubicich and Josh Bru Brubaker, and it's time to share an update on the reality alums. The two were in an alliance on one of the best reality TV shows. They also seemed to have chemistry when they met face to face. While they didn't appear in the newest season, The Circle season 6, Alyssa and Bru were some of the most memorable contestants.

Flirting was a staple in The Circle season 4, and there was plenty of it in the popular installment of the Netflix reality hit.

‘Children of the Corn’ at 40: Fritz Kiersch Adds Sugar to Stephen King’s Story [The Losers’ Club Podcast]
Fritz Kiersch
“Question not my judgment, Malachai. I am the giver of His word.”

It’s the summer of 1984. The pavement is hot, the corn is high, and the eerie voices of children can be heard singing in a distant barn. Something sinister walks behind the rows. Is it a cult of killer children ripped from the Old Testament? Is a vengeful deity who demands human sacrifice? Is it a roving mound of dirt speeding through the corn or a loud little girl who draws in her sleep? In the latest episode of The Long Watch, The Losers’ Club will pick up their scythes and venture into the fragrant fields to unearth the secrets of Fritz Kiersch’s Children of the Corn.

Burt (Peter Horton) and Vicky (Linda Hamilton) are driving across the country when a detour off the main highway takes them straight through a never ending sea of corn. When...

You Can Thank Star Trek For Isaac's Creepy Haircut In Children Of The Corn
Image
In Fritz Kiersch's bonkers 1984 horror film "Children of the Corn," the small town of Gatlin, Nebraska is taken over by a gaggle of murderous children. Gatlin's kids have killed the town's grown-ups at the behest of an off-screen deity named He Who Walks Behind the Rows, some kind of harvest-related being that demands death and blood. The kiddie cult is headed by Isaac (John Franklin), a soft-spoken Quaker type who quietly decrees violent action from his flock. Isaac would eventually be betrayed by his gruff lieutenant Malachi (Courtney Gaines) who ties Isaac to a cross. Franklin would reprise his role in 1999 for "Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return.

Franklin has had a respectable acting career since his Corny debut, having played multiple voice roles in the '80s, as well as Cousin Itt in 1991's "The Addams Family." Franklin also showed up in the notorious cult film "Tammy and the T-Rex...

'The Terror' Season 1 Didn't Need This Horror Subplot
Image
Based on the novel by Dan Simmons, the first season of AMC's The Terror is a fictional recount of one of history's many horror stories. It follows the doomed voyage of the Hms Erebus and the Hms Terror, captained by Sir John Franklin (Ciarán Hinds). Two ships departed from Kent for the Canadian Arctic in 1845. Neither ship nor the 129 souls on board would return. The novel and its adaptation tell these events with surprising accuracy, showcasing the main reasons why the expedition was a fated disaster. It's one of those great maritime stories, like the famous Mutiny On The Bounty, which shows that even the most rigid power structures, and well-planned endeavors, can crumble when faced with the beauty and the terror of a vast ocean.

This '80s Italian Horror Gem Is So Weird You Need to See It
Image
There are bad movies that are just bad -- they are just uninteresting or broken (with boom mics dropping into the frame like The Howling VI), and then there are bad movies that are so bad, they are hilarious, like Troll 2, Demon Wind, and The Room. Today, we have just such a movie. An Italian zombie film like you have never seen before, that Severin is releasing in 4K for the first time in an absurd bundle with a disastrously hideous pillow case that makes us kind of want to order two copies for a matching pair for the guest bed. The movie is Burial Ground. Also known as The Nights of Terror, because any real bad Italian horror movie has more than one title.

Burial Ground is about three couples who drive into the country to stay at a baroque Italian villa, violate the moral rules of the horror genre,...

Two Lost Doctor Who Episodes Have Been Found, But Their Guardians Are Too 'Terrified' To Return Them
Image
"Doctor Who" has long been regarded as one of the pillars of science fiction television. Unfortunately, back in the 1960s and 1970s, the BBC regarded previously broadcast "Doctor Who" episodes as junk that was just taking up space, so the episodes were destroyed to make room for new programming. Some lost "Doctor Who" stories have since been recovered from collectors, overseas broadcasters, and -- in the case of two episodes of the serial "The Daleks' Master Plan" -- in the basement of a Mormon church. However, despite decades of searching, 97 episodes remain lost.

That number could be whittled down to 95, according to a new report by The Observer, but there's a problem. Film collector John Franklin, who knows the locations of the two missing episodes, says their guardians are afraid that if they come forward their precious mementos could be confiscated, and that they might even face criminal prosecution. The...

‘Explorer: Lost in the Arctic’: Nat Geo Doc Tries to Uncover Centuries-Old Mystery
Image
“What would you do? If your friend died and you were starving, would you eat him?” National Geographic Explorer Mark Synnott mulled the unthinkable while trying to solve one of history’s greatest seafaring mysteries in Explorer: Lost in the Arctic: what happened to the 129 men of Sir John Franklin’s 1845 expedition whose ships got trapped in the Arctic ice while the sailors were trying to be the first to navigate the Northwest Passage. “We know they all died,” Synnott says. “I’m curious what people do when it’s pure survival.” This need for answers has fueled multiple searchers from 1848 until the present day, and even inspired the horror novel The Terror, adapted in 2018 to launch an AMC anthology series. (Credit: National Geographic For Disney/Renan Ozturk) This suspenseful documentary chronicles the four-month quest of Synnott and a team of explorers who think answers will be found in Franklin’s tomb,...

Nat Geo’s Explorer: Lost in the Arctic Filmmaker on the Dangers of the Arctic
Image
Explorer: Lost in the Arctic retraces the journey of Sir John Franklin, an adventurer who disappeared while trying to navigate the Northwest Passage. Renan Ozturk, a filmmaker and adventurer, accompanied Mark Synnott in the search for Franklin's final resting place, facing challenges and dangerous conditions. The crew used innovative technology, such as 3D-printed drone handles, to capture footage while navigating treacherous waters, documenting the journey for a greater purpose.

National Geographic’s Explorer: Lost in the Arctic retraces the famed journey of lost adventurer Sir John Franklin. In 1845, Franklin and a team of 129 men left England to navigate the Northwest Passage, a trade route at the top of North America that uses the Arctic Ocean as a bridge between the Atlantic and Pacific. Franklin’s ships became trapped in ice, and while their remains—and those of many of his crew—have been found, Franklin himself is still missing.

Suits Fan Video Roasts Mike & Harvey For The Most Ridiculous Part Of Their Legal Process
Image
Suits' success on Netflix has led to the creation of new internet content about the show, including a fan video mocking the most ridiculous part of Harvey and Mike's work process. The primary relationship in Suits is between Mike and Harvey, with their mentor-mentee dynamic evolving into a deep friendship. Suits balances its legal jargon by incorporating entertaining banter and pop culture references between Mike and Harvey, making it relatable for non-law enthusiasts.

The most ridiculous part of Mike and Harvey's legal process in Suits is exposed in a new fan video. USA Network's legal drama has found new life since arriving on Netflix in mid-June. It has become the most-watched acquired show by the platform, which means that aside from old viewers revisiting the series, it is also garnering new audiences who are discovering it four years after Suits season 9 marked its end.

Best Horror Movies on Shudder Right Now
Image
Shudder is a streaming service that is specifically dedicated to the horror genre, so it’s only fitting that we here on Arrow in the Head should compile a list of the Best Horror Movies on Shudder Right Now. As with all streamers, Shudder has movies that come and go on a regular basis, but if you head over there today here are some of the best movies you can find on the service:

Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

Yes, George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead seems to be available on nearly every streaming service there is, and that’s because the movie is in the public domain due to the copyright notice accidentally being left off the film print. When you’re a streaming service that deals specifically with the horror genre, it would be insane if you didn’t have Night of the Living Dead...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 sees the return of many cast members while adding new characters as the story grows even more expansive. Former Players Who Deserve A Second Chance On The Circle
Image
Dozens of contestants have appeared on The Circle, but there are only a select few who have an easy argument to return to the popular social media competition. Hosted by comedian Michelle Buteau, players on The Circle can win over their competitors as themselves, or as catfishes, in an attempt to walk away with $100,000. The game may sound easy in theory, but with everyone physically separated and a number of twists and turns routinely introduced, it is incredibly difficult in execution.

While some players like The Circle season 4 winner Frank Grimsley are able to coast through the tough game as themselves, most competitors try and advance as catfishes, with various degrees of success. As there can only be one winner, however, everyone else eventually finds themselves blocked and eliminated, whether for obvious reasons or strategic moves of deception. Although almost every block in The Circle history can be justified, there...

The 20 Best Historical TV Shows
Image
Historical TV shows — whether they're set in the distant past or 20th century — have been an incredibly popular genre since the advent of television. Period dramas and comedies give viewers a glimpse into the trials, tragedies, and tribulations of yesteryear, many with incredible attention to detail and historical accuracy. Some historic shows are based on the life of a real person, while others focus on completely original characters. Sometimes these shows are highly dramatized to increase intrigue or tension, and, while that may irk hardcore history buffs, most are content if the changes make the story more compelling.

The best historic dramas walk a fine line between telling a compelling tale and maintaining a sense of authenticity. This often limits what networks and showrunners can do. As a result, they aren't often favored when compared to more fantastical productions. The staggeringly popular Vikings and uncompromisingly steamy romantic dramas like Bridgerton...

Stephen King’s ‘Children of the Corn’ – Comparing the Short Story, Original Movie, and 2023 Remake
Image
Stephen King’s short story “The Children of the Corn” has been catnip to horror filmmakers for nearly fifty years. Originally published in the March 1977 issue of Penthouse, the tale of a quarreling couple who stumble onto a murderous cult of children in a Nebraska cornfield was included the following year in King’s first short story collection Night Shift and subsequently adapted into a 1984 feature film directed by Fritz Kiersch. Night Shift also contains the source material for King classics such as The Mangler, Sometimes They Come Back, Maximum Overdrive, and the upcoming The Boogeyman, but none of the collection’s other 19 stories have had the staying power of “Children of the Corn.” Perhaps due to its evocative title implying barbaric pagan rituals or the eerie juxtaposition between childlike innocence and brutal murder, the original film has spawned eight sequels and two remakes over the course of four decades.

Celebrities That Fans Would Like To See Compete On The Circle
Image
The Circle has taken Netflix and the internet by storm since it was introduced to American viewers in 2020, and while the series has only featured non-celebrity contestants, it might be time to consider adding celebrities to the mix of players. The social media competition, which resembles a solid mix of CBS' Big Brother and MTV's Catfish, physically separates cast members and makes them emotionally connect through texts, emojis, and photos. While it may sound easy to use their popularity and charm to get to the end, players on The Circle have to deal with a variety of twists, turns, and a wide variety of catfishes.

Since any competitor can succeed as a catfish as they make sure not to let their guard down, anyone on The Circle season 5, or other seasons, could take the title for themselves with enough skill. Viewers briefly experienced this when Spice Girls Mel B...

But if you’ve been avoiding the first Children of the Corn because you’ve heard negative things about the series, we’ve put together the video embedded above to tell you why you should give it a chance.

Stephen King's Children of the Corn Remake Is Rated-r for Blood and Violence
Image
A new take on horror maestro Stephen King's Children of the Corn wrapped production earlier this year, and, while fans of the source material and the original movie may already be rolling their eyes at the prospect of another remake, they might want to consider putting their eyes back into the forward position, as the new material has now officially been given an R-rating. With a lot of modern-day horror flicks often given the dreaded, neutering PG-13 rating, this should come as a very pleasant surprise.

The remake of Children of the Corn has earnt its rating due to "violence and bloody images," which should at least suggest that the movie does not intend to hold back and will hopefully lean into the story's more intense elements.

The Stephen King short story on which the movie is based follows couple Burt and Vicky, who are traveling through Nebraska on...

Children Of The Corn (1984) The Arrow Blu Review
Review by Roger Carpenter

Stephen King films can be a mixed bag. For every really good film adaptation (Carrie; The Shining; Misery) there’s a bad one (Maximum Overdrive; Graveyard Shift; The Dark Tower). There are also a whole slew of Stephen King films that fall somewhere in the middle. I think Children of the Corn is one of the films that falls squarely in the middle of the pack.

There are some real strengths in the film. It has some genuine star quality, with soon-to-be action star Linda Hamilton (The Terminator) and TV heartthrob Peter Horton (Thirtysomething) starring as married couple Burt and Vicky, who become stranded in a town filled only with murderous, brainwashed children. The children are led by Isaac (John Franklin), who has a direct connection with an evil entity the children worship called He Who Walks Behind the Rows, and Malachai (Courtney Gains), Isaac’s mean-spirited enforcer.

Our traipse through the movie adaptations of Stephen King's work arrives at Children Of The Corn...

The film: When Isaac (John Franklin) returns with a group of other children from playing in the cornfields around the town of Gatlin, Nebraska, he leads a revolt that sees the adults slaughtered fast and mercilessly. The only two children who didn’t play in the corn that day, Job (Robby Kiger) and his sister Sarah (Anne Marie McEvoy) remain unhomicidal. Three years later, Vicky (Linda Hamilton) and boyfriend Burt (Peter Horton) are driving near Gatlin when a little boy stumbles in front of their car.
