Boy Meets World Stars Criticize “Terrible” Valentine’s Day Episode Featuring “The Worst Version Of Cory”
Image
Boy Meets World stars have criticized how Cory behaves in the season 6 Valentine's Day episode. The coming-of-age comedy series, created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, maintains a devoted fanbase, and its characters and episode themes have been well-received by audiences.

Boy Meets World stars Ben Savage as Cory Matthews — a charismatic character whose romance with Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel) becomes a main storyline —and revolves around him as he grows up and experiences life. Other regular cast members include Rider Strong, Trina McGee, Will Friedle, and William Daniels.

However, speaking on Pod Meets World (via People), some of the cast discussed how Cory acted in a particular Boy Meets World episode. As Friedle explained, during the Boy Meets World season 6 Valentine's Day episode, the series presents "the worst version of Cory."

Fishel agreed that it was an unfavorable depiction of Cory, revealing that it even affected how she acted.

‘Boy Meets World’ Stars Slams ‘Terrible’ Valentine’s Day Episode
Image
Boy Meets World alums Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle recently slammed a “terrible” Valentine’s Day episode on their rewatch podcast Pod Meets World. On July 10, the former child stars chatted about Season 6, Episode 16 titled “My Baby Valentine.” The episode followed Cory (Ben Savage) as he threw his mother a baby shower while also attempting to celebrate the February 14 holiday with his fiancée, Topanga (Fishel). Unsurprisingly, things didn’t go well for Cory. But the episode itself is what the Boy Meets World stars criticized. “It felt rushed. It felt weird,” Strong declared. He continued, “It just felt like a couple different episodes crammed into one. It was like, one about Cory’s anxiety and Valentine’s Day, and then it, like, really obviously doesn’t become about that. And I don’t know if he actually learned anything. It just felt kind of like a couple different...

Batman Beyond (1999)
Batman Beyond star explains why he can’t return as Terry McGinnis
Batman Beyond (1999)
If Batman Beyond ever returns, it’ll have to do so without Will Friedle, the original voice of Terry McGinnis, the future Batman of the beloved animated series.

During a panel at Animate! Columbus 2025, Friedle was asked if he would like to return to Batman Beyond. Despite his love for the series, Friedle can’t imagine coming back without Kevin Conroy, who sadly died in 2022.

“If you asked me that question three years ago, ‘Oh my god, yes. Get me in front of the microphone right now.’ Now that Kevin’s gone, I don’t know if I could do it again,” he said. “I think they would need to recast both roles. Because being Terry and not having him answer as Bruce, I don’t think I could do it.“

Set in a futuristic Gotham City, Batman Beyond follows Terry McGinnis, a teenager who teams up with an elderly...

Batman Beyond Voice Actor Confirms He Will Not Reprise The Role Of Terry McGinnis Anytime Soon
Image
Best remembered as Eric Matthews from Boy Meets World after a seven-year run on ABC, Will Friedle later became a household name of his own through voicing in animated shows such as Kim Possible, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and The Secret Saturdays following the success of Batman Beyond where he voiced Terry McGinnis. The second person to take on the Batman mantle after Bruce Wayne in a futuristic Neo-Gotham set in the year 2039. Now over two years since the passing of his co-star Kevin Conroy in 2022, Fridele reveals his thoughts on a continuation of the series and a statement he will no longer voice the character anytime soon.

During a panel at Animate Columbus! 2025 nearly a month ago, Friedle recently spoke to a fan on returning to voice McGinnis without Conroy's involvement as Bruce Wayne.

If you asked me that question three years ago,...

Why A Batman Beyond Revival Series Won't Happen, According To Star Will Friedle
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

For a certain generation of DC fans, there's nothing quite like "Batman Beyond." The series is set in a future version of Gotham City where the young Terry McGinnis has taken up the mantle of Batman by donning a high-tech suit and is being mentored by an aging Bruce Wayne. Taking place in the same timeline as "Batman: The Animated Series," the show was relatively short-lived, lasting just three seasons between 1999 and 2001. Yet, it is no less beloved, particularly now as nostalgia has caught up with it. Unfortunately, those holding out for a revival would do well to temper expectations.

Will Friedle, who voiced Terry McGinnis in the original series, recently spoke at the Animate! Columbus 2025 convention (per Comicbook.com). During the event, he was asked about a possible "Batman Beyond" revival. Even just a few years ago, Friedle said he...

Boy Meets World’s Cast Unpacks The Season 6 Episode They All Agree "Was A Clunker"
Image
While Boy Meets Worldmay be a beloved '90s sitcom, several members of the show's cast agree that one particular season 6 episode was beneath the show's usual high quality. Part of ABC's Tgif lineup, Boy Meets World was embraced by a young audience, and often featured cameos from A-list celebrities of the moment. Season 6, episode 15, "Road Trip," sees Cory accompany Shawn on a getaway after Shawn lost his father. A major storyline in the episode is their arrival at a diner, where they meet four waitresses played by the members of '90s girl group, Nobody's Angel.

On their rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World, Boy Meets World actors Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) discuss their thoughts on the episode (via EW). All three are in agreement that "Road Trip" is a dud as far as Boy Meets World episodes go. They cited the lack of plot as the episode's failing,...

Five Classic Sitcom Characters Based on Other Classic Sitcom Characters
Image
Last week, when stopping by Will Friedle’s Magical Rewind podcast, former Blossom star Joey Lawrence made a rather audacious claim: Matt LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani character from Friends was a direct rip-off of his Blossom character Joey Russo. He even said NBC sent LeBlanc to watch Blossom during tapings, and that LeBlanc sat in the audience with a notepad, studying how to make his future Friends character both a charming womanizer and an innocent, lovable guy.

People immediately cried foul over Lawrence seemingly taking credit for a character more beloved and better remembered than his own. “Does this guy really think he was that important?” reads one comment on the podcast’s Instagram post. “Sure. Keep telling yourself that,” another scolds. Other commenters even pointed out that LeBlanc played a very Joey-like character on Married… with Children years before Friends.

While Lawrence’s claim seems suspect, there are many...

'Boy Meets World' Star, 45, Reveals Why One Episode Almost Broke Him
Image
Boy Meets Worldhas a lot of emotional storylines that fans still talk about. One such storyline is that of Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) and his father. Throughout the series, Shawn ends up at Cory Matthews' (Ben Savage) home more often than not, because his home life wasn't the best. Some of the more emotional episodes consisted of Shawn and his brother, Jack (Matthew Lawrence), having to deal with their father, Chet (Blake Clark). Now, on a new episode of Pod Meets World, Strong spoke with co-stars Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle about the episode "Getting Hitched" and why he had a "breakdown" while filming it.

The 1999 episode featured Jack and Shawn going through Chet's trailer after he passed away. The two brothers have to unpack their father's belongings along with their feelings about his death. According to Strong, the episode was an emotional one because of Shawn's relationship with his father.

Rider Strong Details Having a ‘Breakdown’ on the ‘Boy Meets World’ Set
Image
Rider Strong went through drama in front of and behind the camera during the later years of filming Boy Meets World. Strong and his costars Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle revisited Season 6, Episode 14, of the sitcom on the Thursday, June 19, episode of their Pod Meets World podcast. Titled “Getting Hitched,” the story saw Strong’s Shawn Hunter and his brother, Jack (Matthew Lawrence), deal with the death of their father, Chet (Blake Clark), the episode prior. While clearing out their dad’s trailer, the brothers get into an argument after Shawn learns that Jack’s stepfather was responsible for paying his college tuition, not Chet. It was while filming the emotional scene that Strong said he had a “breakdown” on set. “I just remember, during rehearsal for this scene. … I was really bored by my character,” Strong recalled on the podcast. “What’s funny is, in retrospect, this is actually a well-written episode for Shawn.

13 Best Direct-To-Video Movies Of All Time
Image
Direct-to-video movies get a bad rap. They tend to have lower budgets than movies shown theatrically, and their release strategy indicates a lack of support from studios. They're also far less prevalent than they once were. As the film industry changed and adopted new technologies, direct-to-vod and streaming movies usurped the direct-to-video (Dtv) industry. In fact, Disney shut down its direct-to-video animation studio Disneytoon in 2018.

As such, Dtv movies represent a bygone era when the division between movies released in theaters and those released on video -– in both budget and perceived quality -– was more significant than it is today. Even the worst Dtv films feel special because these kinds of low-budget films produced by major studios no longer exist.

But not all Dtv movies should be thrown in the garbage. Some of these films became cult classics, despite their lowly Dtv status. Others remain beloved sequels to theatrically...

One Of The Best Batman Episodes Saw Him Confront His Parents' Murderer
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

What is Batman's most famous trait? His black bat costume? His crime-fighting? Or is it his dead parents?

The tragic birth of Batman in Crime Alley, or eight-year-old Bruce Wayne seeing his parents gunned down, has been retold again and again. These days, the story is a ripe target for parody or mockery: "Shouldn't Bruce Wayne just be in therapy!" they (the writers of "Harley Quinn") say, as I point them to Grant Morrison.

But the reason the Wayne murders are constantly featured and referred back to in Batman stories is because it's an innately dramatic and tragic tale, one dripping with pathos, and the cornerstone of Batman's character. Written right, Batman's inability to move past his parents' murder reveals not just his obsessiveness, but his compassion; he can't bring back his parents, so he fights to make sure no...

Danielle Fishel, Shaun Weiss Recall ‘Hormonal’ Scene From ‘Worst’ …
Image
Reading Time: 3 minutes

You might recall Boy Meets World as the ’90s sitcom in which a young Ben Savage navigated the rough waters of adolescence.

But like so many sitcoms of that era, the show sort of overstayed its welcome, and by the end, it was a 2000s show in which its teen stars were all grown up and trying to make sense of adulthood (no one has ever succeeded in this task).

Anyway, viewers got to see Cory and Topanga go from middle school sweethearts to man and wife, and the change in their circumstances presented new challenges to both the young couple and the show’s writers.

‘Boy Meets World’ Stars Reflect on Predatory Teacher Episode: ‘Painful to Watch’
Image
During last week’s episode of “Pod Meets World,” “Boy Meets World” cast mates Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle discussed their disappointment with how an episode from the hit ABC series failed to center the experience of Topanga Lawrence’s (Fishel) after she was hit on by her college professor and instead spotlighted Cory Matthews’ (Ben Savage) response to it.

“I felt like this thing that happened to Topanga became about: ‘How is the man in her life going to feel about it, and what’s he going to do about it?’” Fishel said, mentioning that her character’s “agency was completely taken away.”

The scene happened in Season 6, Episode 7 of “Boy Meets World”: “Everybody Loves Stuart,” during which college couple Topanga and Cory begin to fancy their new professor, Stuart (Fred Savage). But when Stuart visits Topanga in her dorm room where he makes her uncomfortable...

The 43-year-old actress and the 45-year-old actor reflected on a season six scene where Topanga and Shawn kissed while shooting a promotional film for a fictional college, causing Corey, played by Ben Savage, to get jealous.

Danielle also said that the moment made her realize she was “done” with the beloved teen sitcom. “I checked my soul out of my body,” she said.

Batman's Darkest TV Episode Received A Comics-Only Sequel
Image
When WB demanded a teen-focused Batman show from the creators of "Batman: The Animated Series," they thought outside the box and came up with "Batman Beyond." Set in a cyberpunk Neo-Gotham, the series followed teenager Terry McGinnis (Will Friedle), the protege of an aged Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy), as he becomes the new Batman.

In this future, Commissioner James Gordon has passed away, but his daughter Barbara (Stockard Channing/Angie Harmon), the former Batgirl, has taken his place. The new Commissioner Gordon was a relatively rare returning character. "Batman Beyond" reused a few old villains, like Mr. Freeze, Ra's Al Ghul, and in a spin-off movie, the Joker, but it mostly focused on new characters. References to Batman's good ol' days were usually kept vague, reaffirming that Terry's adventures in the "present" were what mattered most.

The "Batman Beyond" tie-in comic, though, explores Barbara in a way that the TV show never did.

Drake Bell Reflects On ‘Quiet On Set’ & Revelations Of Abuse A Year After Docuseries’ Release: “A Roller Coaster Of Emotions”

In a sit-down a year after the release of Investigation Discovery’s Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Drake Bell — whose revelations of experiencing sexual abuse at the hands of his former Nickelodeon dialogue coach/manager Brian Peck triggered massive shockwaves throughout the industry — said he has experienced a “roller coaster of emotions” amid the support he’s received.

Drake Bell Marks One Year Since Telling His Sexual Abuse Story in ‘Quiet on Set’: ‘I Didn’t Expect to Have That Kind of Impact on People’

Drake Bell told People magazine that a weight has been lifted, one year after the airing of ID Discovery’s “Quiet on Set.” The documentary series featured Bell going public for the first time about being sexually assaulted as a teenager by his Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck. It was perhaps the biggest bombshell to emerge from “Quiet on Set,” which also detailed claims of misconduct behind the scenes at Nickelodeon during the 1990s and early 2000s.

“It’s been a really nice weight lifted,” Bell said while marking the one-year anniversary of the “Quiet on Set” premiere. “It’s a roller coaster of emotions. ‘Boy Meets World’ Stars Danielle Fishel and Maitland Ward Have Heated Argument on Rewatch Podcast: ‘You’re Trying to Go at Me Now to Get Ratings’
Image
In a podcast first, “Pod Meets World” included the following warning at the top of their latest episode: “This episode contains a bunch of adult language and subject matter. Please proceed with caution.”

The Feb. 23 episode featured Maitland Ward, the actor best known as Rachel McGuire on “Boy Meets World.” After visiting the “Girl Meets World” set in 2015, Ward began growing her personal brand and later went on to become an adult film star. While they did discuss that transition and her work now, it wasn’t until after that discussion that things got extremely tense.

The tone changed about 55 minutes in, when co-host Danielle Fishel asked, “Do you hate us?” Ward replied, “No, I do not hate you. I think that you hate me, because you wouldn’t speak to me on ‘Girl Meets World,’ and that was hurtful.”

From there, the pair went back and forth about their relationship through the years.

Matthew Lawrence Says Gabrielle Union ‘Reported Me to the Studio’ and ‘Got Angry’ Over Refusing to Rehearse: ‘The Only Time’ I Was Dinged for ‘Something I Did on Set’

Matthew Lawrence recently said on the “Magical Rewind” podcast that the only time he got into trouble on a film or television set was when Gabrielle Union allegedly reported him. According to Lawrence, the incident occurred after he declined Union’s offer to rehearse their lines together on the set of their 1999 TV movie “H-e Double Hockey Sticks.” Lawrence starred in the film as a hockey player who becomes the target of a young devil, played by podcast co-host Will Friedle.

“There was this one moment where — and, again, I’m oblivious, I had no idea — and [Gabrielle] wanted to rehearse. And I was like, ‘No, I’m good,'” Lawrence remembered (via Entertainment Weekly). “And she got angry and went and reported me to the director and the studio. 'Star Wars' Actor Says Playing an Ewok in 'Return of the Jedi' Was "Tough"
Image
It's not unusual for an actor or stunt person to play multiple characters in the same movie, especially when they're bogged down in prosthetics and make-up, which makes it hard to recognize them. But 20 characters? That's definitely more than average. For stunt actor and little person Kevin Thompson, though, it was worth it to be a part of the Star Wars universe in Return of the Jedi, even if the Ewok costumes he wore were a little constricting.

Thompson appeared on a recent episode of Pod Meets World hosted by Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle, who are just three stars from the hit '90s sitcom Boy Meets World. They regularly re-watch old episodes of their series, and were joined by Thompson – who was a stand-in for the child actors – and his wife, Tracey. The subject of Star Wars was eventually brought up, and it was then that...

New Harlan Coben Series Continues a Major Netflix Trend
Image
Harlan Coben's latest adaptation continues a positive Netflix trend for the acclaimed writer and executive producer. Missing You, which debuted on January 1, is among the most-watched shows so far this year on the platform.

Per FlixPatrol, the Coben adaptation debuted at No. 3 on Netflix's Top 10 most-watched series list and is still yet to drop below fourth place. Missing You's success continues the mystery novel writer's streak of wins since he inked a multi-million-dollar, 5-year contract with Netflix in 2018. Per the terms of the deal, the giant streamer would develop fourteen of his novels for the big and small screen, with Coben as executive producer on all projects. The deal was extended in 2022 following the arrival of The Stranger, The Woods, The Innocent, Gone For Good, Stay Close, and Hold Me Tight, all to varying degrees of acclaim. 2024's Fool Me Once was Coben's last adaptation to debut before his latest effort.

The First Episode of Netflix’s New Show Majorly Snubs Boy Meets World’s Will Friedle
Image
WWE's flagship show Monday Night Raw premiered on Netflix on Jan. 6, 2025, to bizarre results. The Netflix and WWE partnership—two unmatched juggernauts in their respective entertainment domains—was a seismic shift for both companies, particularly for the iconic, albeit checkered, wrestling empire. Live from the new Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, the debut broadcast careened between soaring highs and deliciously awkward lows. The Rock and John Cena made appearances, Rhea Ripley claimed a star-making victory, and Cm Punk wrestled his first Raw match in over a decade—an instant classic against recent Captain America: Brave New World cut, Seth Rollins.

Among the chaos—from Hulk Hogan's hasty retreat amid a tsunami of boos to Macaulay Culkin's surprise appearance earning a thunderous ovation, one cringe-worthy sequence left fans stunned: WWE cameras zeroed in on Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel while completely ignoring her co-star Will Friedle, who sat mere inches away,...

Here Are the Rejected Steve Urkel Catchphrases That Pale in Comparison to ‘Did I Do That?’
Image
Mike Myers says you can’t just make a catchphrase happen. “I’ve never designed a catchphrase. I just like how people talk,” Myers told Vulture late last year. “Remember ‘Get in my belly?’ That was improv. It wasn’t, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, my next catchphrase.’”

But Jaleel White says the producers of Family Matters were intent on creating a signature slogan for his Urkel character. “They tried a million darn catchphrases,” he told Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle on the Pod Meets World podcast, per People.

It took a while to get to “Did I do that?” White said — and some of the early stabs were pretty lame. “The first one that they ever tried really was Steve would just bump into inanimate objects — an end table or a lamp, knock it over and say, ‘Excuse me.’ That was it.”

Er, easy to see why that one didn’t catch on.

A Fan-Favorite Batman Actor Subverted Their Other Iconic Role In a 28-Year-Old Box Office Flop
Image
Quick Links Who Was Will Friedle in Trojan War? Trojan War Gave Friedle's Brad a High-Octane Night

One of the hottest debates will always rage over who's the best Batman. Live-action fans are torn between Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. Of course, Zack Snyder fans love Ben Affleck's Dark Knight. On the cartoon front, Kevin Conroy stands atop the list. But Will Friedle is another iconic name associated with the genre due to his role, not as Bruce Wayne, but as Terry McGinnis from Batman Beyond.

Many loved how Friedle went dark and bleak, switching things up from his other most famous role: Eric Matthews on Boy Meets World. Interestingly, Friedle had a hilarious role in a 1997 teenage rom-com, Trojan War, that didn't go quite as dark as Terry, but just far enough to subvert what he was as Eric: a clumsy charmer. In the process, Friedle showed he...

"A Bs Send-Off": Boy Meets World Cast Share Conflicted Reactions To A Beloved Discarded Character
Image
The cast of Boy Meets World candidly reacts to Mr. Turner's one-sentence sendoff. Played by Anthony Tyler Quinn, the character of Jonathan Turner was important in the early seasons of the family sitcom. Appearing in 51 episodes, which went from season 2 to season 4, Turner develops a fatherly relationship with Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong). It makes it all the more jarring when Mr. Turner is abruptly written off the show after getting into a motorcycle accident, with Quinn not reprising the role until the spinoff Girl Meets World.

With the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World revisiting the season 5 finale "Graduation", which features a joke about the fact that Mr. Turner wanders a part of the school that the protagonists never visit along with other disappeared supporting characters. Danielle Fishel (Topanga) and Will Friedle (Eric) reacted to the Mr. Turner joke, along with Strong, and they shared mixed feelings. While they acknowledged that it was funny,...

2024 Has Already Proved That It’s Time For A Live-Action Batman Beyond Movie
Image
2024 has proved it's high time for DC to adapt Batman Beyond into a live-action movie, and the stage is in many ways perfectly set for this to come to fruition. The original Batman Beyond series ran from 1999-2001, with the animated Batman show exploring the future of Gotham after Bruce Wayne is forced to retire from his superhero role, and the mantle is instead handed down to Terry McGinnis. While the character has returned since then, the potential of his appearance in live-action hasn't been formally capitalized on, despite prior efforts to do so.

However, recent history has provided some of the most solid examples of why Batman Beyond mor than deserves its time in the live-action big-screen spotlight. The first of these came with Terry's second proper animated movie appearance after Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker, as the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths movie trilogy saw the character reappear,...

11 Guest Actors You Forgot Were On Boy Meets World
Image
The '90s was a complicated time to be a TV teen. While the kids of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Melrose Place" were entrenched in constant scandalous teen drama, a gentler, more family-friendly version of teen life was drawing in audiences on ABC. "Boy Meets World" ran for an impressive 158 episodes, from 1993 to 2000, and remains a pop cultural touchstone — albeit not quite as potent of one as its cattier primetime counterparts — to this day.

Like every memorable sitcom, "Boy Meets World" knew how to pick a guest star, and several of the actors who showed up across its seven-season run went on to be pretty dang famous. In a few cases, people who were already big-name actors at the time also dropped in on the kids of John Adams High. If you watched the show at a young age, though, you'd be forgiven for not recognizing the industry veterans and...

Before 'NCIS' Sean Murray Stood Out in One Sitcom

Quick Links Breaking Free From Usual Characters with 'The Random Years' 'The Random Years' Was Sabotaged Critics Loved the Cast But Hated the Show

For a very brief period in 2002, and just before the character of Timothy McGee was introduced to the world in NCIS, actor Sean Murray opted for a more laid-back role. Instead of being stationed in Washington DC’s Navy Yard with Gibbs, Dinozzo, and Ziva, where they would investigate crimes inside the Navy, the TV actor would be placed in Chinatown, Manhattan - living a day-to-day life with three childhood friends in a nice, big loft.

Just before stepping into the role of a field agent in the fourth-longest-running scripted live-action U.S. prime-time TV series, Murray would instead be slacker Todd Mitchell, an unemployed schemer who seems to have an odd fascination with Star Wars. Even though Upn unceremoniously pulled the plug on this oddball...

Danica McKellar Says Controversial ‘The Wonder Years’ Ending Was ‘Only the Beginning’: ‘Maybe Kevin and Winnie Ended Up Together After All’
Image
Danica McKellar has good news for those who didn’t like the original ending of “The Wonder Years” — things may have changed! The actor, who played Winnie Cooper on the sitcom from 1988 to 1993, opened up about how she views the controversial ending.

In the final episode, which aired May 12, 1993, the narrator revealed that Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) and Winnie did not end up together, despite their on-again off-again relationship throughout the series. She went to Paris to get her art degree and Kevin got married to someone else, but the pair remained friends.

“Fans still get upset about it,” McKellar said on the Nov. 25 episode of “Pod Meets World.” She explained that often in the show, “everything didn’t all work out in the end,” which was a way to be relatable to the audience.

“Most of our lives don’t out the way we wanted them too, or thought they were going to,...

Image
Lopez Vs Lopez, currently airing its third season on NBC, combines family sitcom antics with a dose of genuine pathos. George Lopez stars as an alcoholic who is forced to move in with his estranged daughter, a status quo shift that forces him to rethink his life and strive to do better for the sake of his daughter, grandson, and the rest of his family. Rider Strong Recalls “Miserable” Shoot Of The Alcohol-Themed ‘Boy Meets World’ Episode Banned By Disney
Image
Boy Meets World actor Rider Strong recalled one particular episode that made him “very uncomfortable” and “so miserable” to film.

In a recent episode of Pod Meets World — the rewatch podcast dedicated to the ’90s sitcom co-hosted by Strong, Danielle Fishel and Will Friedle — the trio discussed an alcohol-themed episode that was eventually banned from airing by Disney for its mature content. Strong, in particular, found the episode to be a watered-down warning message about alcoholism that ended up being more of a “disservice.”

“I’m just half-assing it this entire episode,” he began. “I’m so miserable.”

Strong continued, “I was probably 17 the first time I tried alcohol, so it was probably right before this. But I remember Ben [Savage] and I talking about, like, ‘How do you play drunk?’ and having conversations about it. And he nails it. He’s so good at it.”

Throughout the podcast, Strong called...

Boy Meets World Killed Jennifer Love Hewitt For One Bizarre Reason In Series' Most Infamous Episode
Image
Jennifer Love Hewitt was killed off in an episode of Boy Meets World because of her real-life relationship with series star Will Friedle (Eric Matthews). Hewitt appeared in the 1998 episode "And Then There Was Shawn," where the characters were locked in John Adams High School, while a killer was hunting them. Just like almost everyone else in the episode, the killer murders Hewitt's character (although it was later revealed that the entire episode was a dream).

On the Pod Meets World podcast, Friedle discusses the episode with fellow Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence). Friedle reveals how shortly after his relationship with Hewitt ended, series creator Michael Jacobs told him that the reason he had her appear in the episode was so that he could have her killed off in front of Friedle.

Jacobs told Friedle about how the actor believed that he...

The Real Reason Girl Meets World Was Canceled
Image
As reported by /Film on January 4, 2017, the Disney Channel canceled "Girl Meets World" after three seasons. Upon completing production on the show's third season, the "Girl Meets World" cast and crew had been patiently waiting to hear whether or not their series would be renewed for a fourth go-round. Instead, the show's aptly-titled season 3 finale, "Girl Meets Goodbye," became forever known as the final episode.

If you listen to "Pod Meets World," the podcast hosted by "Boy Meets World" and "Girl Meets World" veterans Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong, you'll get the sense that Michael Jacobs -- the co-creator and head executive producer on both shows -- is a very dogged and focused individual who knows what he wants and will do anything to get it. So, when fans raised hell on social media, he shopped "Girl Meets World" to Netflix and other platforms. However, after four months...

10 TV Episodes That Gave '90s Kids Nightmares
Image
Children's TV shows of the 1990s weren't afraid to get quite scary and intense, with many standout episodes of beloved series leaving a lasting impression in the form of nightmares. The 90s were quite an interesting time for children's media, with loosened restrictions on what networks could get away with leading to some very experimental episodes of TV. While modern kids' shows can be quite scary, the childhoods of millennials are filled with particularly horrifying TV scenes that still cause bad dreams even today.

Interestingly enough, it wasn't strictly the explicitly horror-themed series that got quite terrifying in the 90s. Horror anthology TV shows made for kids like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? may have seen an increase in popularity this decade, but standard children's fare like cartoons or tween dramas could get just as frightening. The 90s truly held nothing back when it came to the...

10 Forgotten Animated Series That Deserve The Live-Action Treatment
Jeff Bridges, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, and Terrence Howard in Iron Man (2008)
The '90s and '00s were the golden era for animated shows. Several masterpieces graced the television screens at a time when streaming platforms were only a seed of an idea in the far future. Its no surprise that millennials grew up wishing their favorite cartoon and even comic book characters would come to life. While its been a satisfactory ride in terms of live adaptations for the past decade, theres no such thing as enough.

The audience might have gotten their perfect Superman or Iron Man or even Disney Princesses, but there are plenty of iconic cartoon characters out there who deserve to get the live-action treatment. The wondrous realm of nostalgia, where most dwelled for long hours enjoying out-of-the-box stories, needs to be brought to the big screens, and these animated series should be at the forefront.

Henry Cavill Leads the Perfect Cast in Live Action ThunderCats Concept Trailer
Image
A live action Thundercats movie is something that the Hollywood machine has been working on for quite some time now, but while we await the release of the adaptation coming courtesy of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard, a concept trailer has been created by YouTube user @stryderHD. And, while the use of artificial intelligence (AI) will make many a movie fan understandably shudder, its difficult to argue with the casting on display.

Man of Steel and The Witcher star Henry Cavill leads the pack as Lion-o, and thus continuing the trend of casting the former Superman as beloved characters following his cameo as Wolverine in the recent Deadpool sequel. Why Boy Meets World Was Canceled After 7 Seasons
Image
Quick Links What Was Boy Meets World About? Why Did Boy Meets World Have to End After Season 7? Did Boy Meets World Ever Return to Television?

Boy Meets World was one of the 1990s' most popular sitcoms, and the creative minds behind the series believe that it could have run for as many as ten seasons if it weren't for the undeniable fact that time ages us all. Instead, this memorable family sitcom that focused on the exploits of Cory Matthews, played by Ben Savage, ran for over 150 episodes across seven seasons.

Decades after its run ended, Boy Meets World became the latest former television show in a long line to be revived for nostalgia in the form of Girl Meets World, which told the story of Cory Matthews's daughter, Riley. Considering Boy Meets World was popular enough to revive, why did the series have to go away in the first place?...

The Worst Episode Of Boy Meets World, According To Rider Strong
Image
If you're a reader of a certain age, there's a chance you grew up watching "Boy Meets World." The coming-of-age comedy lasted for seven seasons, and audiences were able to watch Cory and Eric Matthews, Shawn Hunter, Topanga Lawrence, and Angela Moore transition from childhood into adulthood, all under the watchful eye of their parental figures and their collective mentor, Mr. Feeny. Years after the show's end, "Boy Meets World" returned for a new generation as "Girl Meets World," focusing on the daughter of Cory and Topanga, Riley, and her mischievous friend Maya Hart, played by pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter. The reignited love of the series inspired the iHeartPodcasts network to launch "Pod Meets World," a retrospective series where the show's stars Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence/Matthews), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) revisit each episode.

The trio is often on the convention circuit together as well,...
