Synopsis: Built around “Stan” – the iconic Eminem track released 25 years ago about an obsessive, unstable fan – the film introduces us to a group of real-life ‘stans’ whose deeply personal connections to Eminem mirror some of the many themes found throughout his discography.
Review: As an Elder Millennial, I graduated high school the year Eminem skyrocketed to fame with “The Slim Shady LP.” Eminem was the world’s biggest rapper for about a decade and remains one of the most popular musicians. While my appreciation for his music has stuck with my nostalgia for his first albums, I respect his stature in the pantheon of hip-hop musicians. Some fans have never wavered in their devotion to the man born Marshal Mathers, and the film Stans is dedicated to them. The studio has also begun filming on a new “Hunger Games” prequel, “Sunrise on the Reaping,” due out this November, and set the two-part Mel Gibson film “The Resurrection of the Christ” for release in March and May of 2027.

Gerard Butler has had a varied career so far, with him playing everything from action leads to rom-com love interests to a singing Phantom of the Opera for Joel Schumacher. But, it has to be said that his most consistently entertaining output falls squarely into the action genre, and as far as Gerard Butler movies go, the action films will always be our favorites… so don’t expect to see The Ugly Truth on this list, but the Jennifer Aniston adventure The Bounty Hunter might scrape by. Or maybe not. Let’s see how it goes:

Perhaps The film that put Gerard Butler on the map for most people, particularly the action and comic book crowds. The Terminal List is getting some serious reinforcements for Season 2. Deadline has reported that Edwin Hodge and Caitlin Bassett (Quantum Leap) have been cast in recurring guest roles in the hit Prime Video action thriller led by Chris Pratt. The casting marks a reunion for Hodge and Pratt, who previously starred together in 2021’s sci-fi blockbuster The Tomorrow War, and now, the two are going from fighting aliens to hunting conspirators in The Terminal List’s grounded and gritty world of covert military ops.
Created by David Digilio and based on the bestselling novels by Jack Carr, The Terminal List follows Navy Seal James Reece (Pratt), who uncovers a deadly conspiracy after his platoon is ambushed during a high-risk mission. Season 1, based on Carr’s debut novel, was a pulse-pounding dive into Reece’s descent into vengeance and justice. Season 2 adapts True Believer, and brings new allies—and enemies—into the fold.

David Ayer‘s Street Kings (2008) may not be the most famous movie in Keanu Reeves’ oeuvre, but it is one of his best and most underrated works to date. However, what makes it even better is his mixed ethnicity, specifically Native Hawaiian, Chinese, and Portuguese ancestry [via IMDb], which saves the film from being trapped in an age-old Hollywood stereotype, i.e., featuring a white male actor in the role of a hero and savior.
Moreover, the film’s over-the-top action sequences and lone hero on a path of vengeance make it a solid precursor to Reeves’s John Wick saga, giving Street Kings a good reason to deserve the franchise treatment from Hollywood.
In this adrenaline-infused cop drama littered with moments of typical street bravado and badge lingo, Street Kings refuses to be boring for even a minute with its constant testosterone-fueled sequences of action and suspense.

The studio A24 recently had a rom-com with The Materialists this year. While the company is more known for putting out surreal and intense films, along comes Eternity, which is another rom-com, but with an existential crisis twist. Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller and Callum Turner star in a fresh take on the classic love triangle trope. Star Thrower Entertainment partners with A24 for Eternity, which is directed by David Freyne. Freyne previously helmed the 2020 film Dating Amber. Olsen and Teller are also credited in the film as executive producers.
A24 has released the trailer, which finds Miles Teller reuniting with his love, played by Elizabeth Olsen, in the afterlife. The new plan for Michael's ending and second film has reportedly been revealed. Michael is a planned Michael Jackson biopic from director Antoine Fuqua. In it, the King of Pop is played by Jackson's real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson. The supporting cast includes Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, Kat Graham, Laura Harrier, and Nia Long.
In a different world, Michael would have been released already. The film was once scheduled to come out on April 18, 2025. Production delays then pushed the movie to October 2025, but the film then got entwined in legal trouble that left it pushed once again. Now, it is slated for April 24, 2026.
As per Puck, the plan for Michael has now been revealed. As of now, producer Graham King is still hoping for two biopics based on Jackson, but only one has been confirmed. The ending of this confirmed film will be a performance that leaves audiences "happy and uplifted.

Even if you don’t know who Joseph Kahn is, you’ve seen one of his music videos.
Since getting into the business in the early 1990s, he has directed nearly 200 videos for some of the industry’s biggest stars – everyone from Willie Nelson to Backstreet Boys to U2 to Taylor Swift. Eminem’s “Without Me” clip? That was Kahn. Janet Jackson’s “Doesn’t Really Matter?” Also Kahn. Britney Spears’ “Womanizer?” Well, you get the picture.
Typically, a director as talented and prolific as Kahn would transition to an equally lucrative career in feature films, just as countless have done before him – people like Michael Bay, David Fincher, Spike Jonze and Antoine Fuqua.
But Kahn’s output as a feature director has been frustratingly few and far between. His fourth film in 20 years, “Ick,” oozes into 800 theaters nationwide on July 27, 28 and 29, as part of a Fathom Events special presentation.

The streaming battle between Jason Statham and Denzel Washington has jumped from Prime Video to Hulu. After tussling with A Working Man last month, The Equalizer 3 is now dealing with Wrath of Man.
Per FlixPatrol, Wrath of Man and The Equalizer 3 have swapped spots on Hulu's Top 10 Movies in the United States list and, as of July 24, are ranked No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. However, the Statham-led Wrath of Man has its work cut out for it if it hopes to move further up the list, as The Amateur, High Rollers, The Assessment, In the Lost Lands, Distant, and Get Away are holding steady in the top six spots. While The Equalizer 3 continues to be popular on streaming, there always seems to be an action flick starring Statham on the same platform that stops it from rising higher on the charts.

The Michael Jackson biopic has finally got a release date.Michael’s nephew Jaafar Jackson is set to star as the late singer in the movie, and after a number of delays, Lionsgate has confirmed it will receive a global theatrical release on April 24, 2026. Deadline reports that a second movie about Jackson remains in development.Directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, the biopic is 27-year-old Jaafar’s first major acting role. While Michael had been the main focus of Lionsgate’s 2023 CinemaCon presentation, no footage was shown at this year’s event. The film’s initial release was planned for 3 October 2025. But Variety previously reported the project may be split into two parts, contributing to the postponement.Filming for Michael wrapped principal photography in May 2024, but the script, written by John Logan, then underwent revisions ahead of planned reshoots. In addition to Jaafar, the cast features Colman Domingo...

Antoine Fuqua’s Michael is indeed, as had been reported, moving to 2026. One lot of extra shooting done, more may be following.
It’s with a sense of trepidation that I write a Michael Jackson story, knowing full well that a small section fanbase of the late singer’s social media advocates on Twitter are, er, ‘a little unconstructive.’
If that happens to be you, then please note that we engage with constructive criticism in our comments, but have to leave it there.
There was a story a few months ago anyway, that the biopic of Michael Jackson, Michael, was being delayed into 2026. This was pushed back on at the time, but has turned out to be true. The film had been due for release later this year, but around three weeks of reshoots have been required, and the movie is back in post.

It's official: Michael, Antoine Fuqua's anticipated Michael Jackson musical biopic, has beat it out of this year's Oscar race.
As Gold Derby reported months ago, the Lionsgate film made an expected move from a planned Oct. 3 release to April 24, 2026.
Michael had been targeted as potential awards bait coming into 2025, but its fate seemed iffy when it was omitted from Lionsgate's CinemaCon presentation to movie theater exhibitors in April. This was a 180 from last year's CinemaCon when the studio shared a first look at Michael.
Weeks later, Lionsgate executives said the film was likely to shift into 2026 amid reports that the four-hour cut would be reconfigured as a two-part release. The two-fer is no longer on the table; instead, Fuqua has been given extra time to chop Michael down to a single film with a manageable running time.
The movie has been beset with controversy. In January, Puck reported that Michael,...

One of the most controversial movies of the near future could be Michael, director Antoine Fuqua’s high-profile biopic about the life of Michael Jackson. Despite glowing reactions to early footage, the film’s release has reportedly been delayed due to legal complications. Lionsgate, the studio behind the film, had initially hoped it would be a major awards-season contender and a box office juggernaut this year – but now, it has been confirmed that they’re waiting to give the film a global theatrical release on April 24, 2026. (With a second film already in development.) So, what exactly is going on with Michael? Here’s what we know so far.
Michael comes from producer Graham King, the man behind Bohemian Rhapsody, the Freddie Mercury biopic that grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide and took home several Oscars. Like that film, Michael has endured its share of pre-release hurdles. While production reportedly went smoothly, the...

The Michael Jackson biopic from Lionsgate and Universal is looking to thrill audiences next year.
Director Antoine Fuqua’s Michael is set to hit theaters and Imax on April 24, 2026, after its release was delayed several times, most recently having been dated for the fall of 2025. Marking his feature debut is Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the lead role as the pop music icon. Lionsgate is distributing the movie domestically, while Universal handles the global launch.
The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that Michael was set for 22 days of additional photography to take place in June. Sources noted at the time that the film, initially intended to span the star’s life and have a lengthy run time, was now expected to end with Jackson leaving his family’s group The Jacksons after the release of his first solo album, 1979’s Off the Wall.

Lionsgate and Universal have set “Michael,” Antoine Fuqua’s biopic about Michael Jackson, for release on April 24, 2026.
Lionsgate will handle domestic distribution for the film while Universal handles overseas with the exception of Japan, where it will be distributed by Kino Films. “Michael” will have global Imax support.
While the release date is technically a weekend before the usual start of the summer box office season on the first weekend of May, “Michael” will be the de facto kickoff tentpole release for theaters to start the critical theatrical period. Historically, a Marvel Studios film has been set for release on the first weekend of May, but that won’t be the case in 2026 and 2027 as Disney has moved “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” out of that slot and into the holiday season.

If I know one thing about our base, it’s that you all are quite fond of a gritty crime thriller. Perhaps it’s the fact that such films allow us to safely escape to an unsafe place. There’s something quite compelling about that. It’s like going on a thrill ride. Deep down, you know you’re going to be just fine, yet you still get a massive adrenaline rush from the experience.
While plenty of crime thrillers allow viewers to safely escape into the narrative, few hold the distinction of starring the one and only Denzel Washington in an Oscar-winning performance. Believe it or not, a picture that checks all of those boxes is presently dominating the Paramount+ charts.
That’s right, dear reader, the Oscar-winning Denzel Washington crime thriller Training Day is currently the seventh most-watched film on the streamer. More than 20 years on from release,...

Denzel Washington's Oscar-winning performance in Training Dayis as enjoyable as ever, and the crime thriller is now a streaming hit 24 years after its release. A lot of Denzel Washington's best movies are crime dramas of one kind or another, and Training Day is a cut above the average.
Washington has established himself as one of the finest actors of his generation, working in a variety of genres and a variety of roles. He has mastered everything from sports dramas to biopics, and his recent role in Gladiator II proves that he's still willing to push his boundaries and try new things.
Washington has accrued nine Oscar nominations in both the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories. After winning for his supporting role in the 1989 war drama Glory, Training Day allowed him to get his hands on the award for Best Actor for the first time. There will always...

Of all the 1980s properties to survive into the 20th century, "The Equalizer" has proven to be one of the most surprising. Edward Woodward embodied Robert McCall on the original CBS television series for four seasons, while Queen Latifah played a genderbent version named Robyn McCall on a reboot series that lasted five seasons on the same network. However, it's the legendary Denzel Washington who's had the longest tenure as McCall, having played the character for over a decade in Antoine Fuqua's "Equalizer" films. No single actor plays the role like the others either, with the only throughline being a central figure with a violent past using their skills to protect those that can't protect themselves.
In terms of the McCall with the most brutal sensibilities, that honor goes to Washington without question. Fuqua's first two "Equalizer" films demonstrate just how ruthless he can be (especially with a nail...

Erin Westerman has been formally named president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, replacing Nathan Kahane after he recently announced plans to step down by the end of the year.
Kahane’s pending move back to film producing opened the way for Westerman, most recently president of production and development, to take over all studio production under Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson.
Kahane has been Motion Picture Group president since May 2018, when Lionsgate acquired Good Universe, the production company he founded with Joe Drake. Drake stepped down from Lionsgate in early 2024 to pave the way for Fogelson, which in a way foreshadowed Kahane’s eventual exit.
Westerman, a former Good Universe and Disney exec, joined Lionsgate in 2017 as executive vp production, overseeing the studio’s creative film production team, before moving up the ranks. In her new role, she will oversee all development and production of Lionsgate’s theatrical film release slate.

Though Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington has portrayed many notable characters in his distinguished career, his turn as vigilante Robert McCall is the only big-screen role he's played more than once, thanks to his lone franchise, The Equalizer. The best franchise entry, The Equalizer 3, puts McCall front and center like never before, with the film once again becoming a big hit on Hulu years after its release.
Via Flix Patrol, The Equalizer 3 has become a fast-rising entry on Hulu, moving up the Disney-owned streaming service's top 10 movie chart in the U.S. The threequel, which was just outside the top 10 days ago, is now ranked 4th on Hulu's chart, outperforming the first two Back to the Future entries and the classic film, Dirty Dancing. The 2024 crime comedy, Riff Raff, stands at the top of the list.

Acting legend Denzel Washington is a rarity in Hollywood as he's one of the few who has largely stayed away from franchises. However, the release of Sony Pictures' The Equalizer 3 broke a 46-year trend for Washington, with the best installment from the actor's only film series becoming a big hit on Hulu years after its premiere.
Via Flix Patrol, The Equalizer 3 is on Hulu's top 10 movie chart in the U.S., ranking ninth on the Disney-owned streamer's list. The film climbed three spots on the chart from this past weekend, where it ranked 12th. The Equalizer 3 is steadily climbing a chart that includes classics such as Back to the Future and Independence Day. Meanwhile, Lionsgate's star-studded crime comedy, Riff Raff, leads the way.
The Equalizer 3 has been enjoying strong streaming runs this year as fans catch up with the latest title in Washington's 11-year-old franchise.
