A new report reveals how South Park was able to air an episode that brutally satirizes President Donald Trump. South Park season 27 returned after a two-year hiatus with a premiere episode that is critical of the President. Following a legal battle over streaming rights, South Park episodes will now air on Paramount+, and the entire catalog will leave HBO Max on August 5.

Per Puck, Matthew Belloni reports how the episode came to air. South Park co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were working on the episode "right up until the day it aired." Paramount Global, Park County, and South Park Digital Studios today announced an expansive renewal with South Park co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone for five years, including 50 new episodes, all 26 previous season episodes and extending South Park on Comedy Central and Paramount+ around the world.

In addition, for the first time ever, Paramount+ will become the U.S. home for the South Park library and all new episodes kicking off with the new season debuting on Comedy Central today and Paramount+ tomorrow.

Comedy Central’s South Park launched on August 13, 1997. Parker, Stone, Anne Garefino, and Frank C. Agnone II are the executive producers of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series.

This rescheduling is a response to the show’s $500 million exclusive streaming licensing contract recently coming to a close with HBO Max a week ago and a new exclusive or non-exclusive streaming contract has not yet been put into place. However, Comedy Central is still promoting the new season of the popular animated satire from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They have recently released a poster, which is a class picture showcasing the main characters, plus the return of Jesus.

In a trailer released in April, the 27th season of the famed, foul-mouthed animated series was teased to cover ketamine, a bloody war against Canada, violent plumbing issues, a space-dwelling Diddy and air traffic control disasters. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have made a career with their scathing social commentary, and the new season appears to promise more of the same.

The animated show will return to Comedy Central, two years on from Season 26. It will launch on Wednesday July 9.

Season 26, which featured six episodes, premiered on the Paramount cable network in February 2023 and ran through March. There were three specials, written and directed by Trey Parker, that aired between October 2023 and March 2024.

“South Park the Streaming Wars Part 2” follows in the footsteps of “South Park: Post Covid,” “South Park: Post Covid: The Return of Covid” and “South Park the Streaming Wars” by premiering exclusively on Paramount+.

Paramount+ will welcome back yet another South Park special event when June rolls around.

On Wednesday, the streaming platform unveiled South Park The Streaming Wars, which will premiere on Wednesday, June 1. The Streaming Wars is just the third installment of 14 planned television movie events, following Post Covid and Post Covid: Covid Returns, set via South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s deal with ViacomCBS. The pact also renewed the long-running comedy series on Comedy Central through 2027.

In South Park Streaming Wars, Cartman locks horns with his mom in a battle of wills, while an epic conflict unfolds and threatens South Park’s very existence.

Paramount+ also revealed that it will debut the fourth South Park television movie event later in the summer.

The long-running animated series announced its latest exclusive event, titled “South Park: The Streaming Wars,” will premiere on Wednesday, June 1 on the streaming service. A fourth special will follow later this summer.

Comedy Central will celebrate 25 years of South Park with a concert at the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Colorado.

The anniversary concert, revealed on Wednesday, will take place on Aug. 10 and will feature Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Primus and Ween. The fall event will feature fan favorite numbers from the long-running, irreverent comedy series.

“We’re so excited to go home and play at Red Rocks, a place that’s been known for hosting the most legendary Artists and Musicians. Until now,” said South Park co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

South Park, fresh off its two December Post Covid movie events, will return to Comedy Central for its 25th season next month.

The long-running animated comedy from co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will return with six episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 2 to celebrate its milestone premiere. Weekly episodes will then follow, for the first time since the last full season in 2019.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, South Park has taken on a number of topics ranging from vaccines, Q-Anon and more with its specials. The first in 2020 was South Park’s ‘Pandemic Special,’ which marked the series’ best ratings in seven years.

“South Park” has received its Season 25 premiere date from Comedy Central. The show, which aired two standalone specials in September 2020 and March 2021 that served as Season 24, last aired a full season — its 23rd — in 2019. The franchise has also aired two movies set in the “South Park” world on Paramount Plus in recent months.

In the latest look at the Paramount+ special, Stan and dad Randy are still up to no good as their latest antics brings them to a doctor’s office. After receiving some news from the medical expert, an aged Randy attacks his doctor and encourages adult Stan to kick him in the groin.

“Kick his f**king balls so we can go,” Randy instructs his son, who eventually follows through.

After the doctor’s down wincing in pain, Stan grabs his keys and the father-son duo exit the office to wreak some more havoc.
