A new report reveals how South Park was able to air an episode that brutally satirizes President Donald Trump. South Park season 27 returned after a two-year hiatus with a premiere episode that is critical of the President. Following a legal battle over streaming rights, South Park episodes will now air on Paramount+, and the entire catalog will leave HBO Max on August 5.
Per Puck, Matthew Belloni reports how the episode came to air. South Park co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were working on the episode "right up until the day it aired." South Park producer Anne Garefino shared with Paramount executive Keyes Hill-Edgar about the content of the episode, who passed the information off to CBS co-c.E.O.s Chris McCarthy, George Cheeks, and Brian Robbins.

South Park‘s season 27 premiere was originally scheduled to broadcast on Comedy Central on July 9, but Deadline is now reporting that the date has been pushed back to July 23. This rescheduling is a response to the show’s $500 million exclusive streaming licensing contract recently coming to a close with HBO Max a week ago and a new exclusive or non-exclusive streaming contract has not yet been put into place. However, Comedy Central is still promoting the new season of the popular animated satire from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They have recently released a poster, which is a class picture showcasing the main characters, plus the return of Jesus.

South Park season 27 has been delayed by Comedy Central amid a streaming-rights battle between the creators and the channel’s parent company, Paramount Global. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are not taking the delay lying down.
Parker and Stone have had enough of this “shitshow” — their words, not ours.
“In response to the press release from Comedy Central about the change in premiere date for South Park Trey Parker & Matt Stone said — ‘This merger is a shitshow and it’s fucking up South Park. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow,’” a tweet posted to South Park’s official X profile reads.

Oh my God, they delayed Kenny!
“South Park” fans will have to wait a little longer for the premiere of Season 27, as the long-running animated comedy series will now premiere Wednesday, July 23, on Comedy Central at 10 p.m., the network announced Wednesday.
Back in April, Comedy Central set the premiere for Wednesday, July 9. The network did not give details on the reason for the time-shift.
But anyone who saw “6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park” — a behind-the-scenes look from 2011 at how Trey Parker, Matt Stone and the team spend less than a week producing the show up against its airdate — knows that it has always operated on a knife’s edge to stay topical.

Come on down to South Park for Season 27!
Paramount has unveiled that the premiere of “South Park” Season 27 has been pushed from its original release on July 9 to July 23. The season premiere will air on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. Et/Pt.
In a trailer released in April, the 27th season of the famed, foul-mouthed animated series was teased to cover ketamine, a bloody war against Canada, violent plumbing issues, a space-dwelling Diddy and air traffic control disasters. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have made a career with their scathing social commentary, and the new season appears to promise more of the same.
Season 26, which consisted of only six episodes, was released in March 2023. The show notably skipped over the 2024 presidential election, a decision that Parker and Stone said was sort of “on purpose,” since several of the show’s previous seasons covered election cycles in depth.

At long last, “South Park” Season 27 has a premiere date. The long-running Comedy Central original will premiere new episodes on July 9. And based on the first teaser, Matt Stone and Trey Parker have been watching the news.
Wednesday’s new clip starts with a series of dramatic live-action images, including an empty swing and the wing of an airplane. “The acclaimed drama returns,” white text against a red background reads. The teaser then immediately jumps to Randy asking his daughter Shelly if she’s been taking ketamine.
“Because I think it could really help you,” he adds. And with that, “South Park” Season 27 is off.
The rest of the teaser cycles through images of South Park on fire, Butters panicking as he tries to stop planes from repeatedly crashing into each other, Canadians pulling down the Statue of Liberty, the boys flying through what appears to be space alongside Diddy...

A new season of “South Park” will premiere on July 9, promising overflowing toilets, ketamine and a space-traveling Diddy. Plus, a violent war against Canada breaks out in the trailer for Season 27 of the raunchy Comedy Central series, co-created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

Just weeks ago, Sir Elton John became the 19th entertainer to win the highly desirable Egot by claiming his first ever Emmy Award. And now, which person is the most likely to be the 20th Egot later this year, in 2025 or beyond? Here is a summary of the 80 people who have the best chance right now.
The most likely duo could be composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (actually meaning a 20th and 21st Egot if they win). They are producers and songwriters for the third season of “Only Murders in the Building,” so they will have a couple of opportunities in September at the Emmys. Three years after becoming famous for playing Doug Ross on E.R., George Clooney voiced a character on South Park, and there is a fascinating reason behind his guest appearance. Co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker each voice two of the four main characters, and the animated series follows Kenny McCormick (Stone) Eric Cartman (Trey Parker), Kyle Broflovski (Stone), and Stan Marsh (Parker) as they live in Colorado and are part of many satirical storylines. The show is known for poking fun at celebrities, and many actors have voiced characters, including Jay Leno as Mr. Kitty, Bill Hader as Alec Baldwin, and Jennifer Aniston as Miss Stevens.
In the years since George Clooney's South Park appearance, he has achieved leading man status in action, comedy and romance, won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Syriana, and directed films such as 2011's The Ides Of March. Many South Park episodes are controversial,...

Only an elite group of 21 artists so far have achieved Egot status, winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
The rare and coveted Egot is not easy to come by, so it’s not surprising that fewer than two dozen have achieved this status. And while the artists don’t get a final Egot trophy when it happens, it’s nonetheless one of show business’ greatest honors.
So, who does have the Egot?
Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend, Tim Rice, Rita Moreno, Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Helen Hayes, Marvin Hamlisch, Robert Lopez, Richard Rodgers, John Gielgud, Jonathan Tunick, Alan Menken, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, Elton John and Scott Rudin are those who have won all four awards competitively.
While Barbra Streisand, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Quincy Jones and Liza Minnelli have all received honorary non-competitive awards, not everyone considers them to be Egot achievements.

South Park, fresh off its two December Post Covid movie events, will return to Comedy Central for its 25th season next month.
The long-running animated comedy from co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will return with six episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 2 to celebrate its milestone premiere. Weekly episodes will then follow, for the first time since the last full season in 2019.
“To be halfway done with “South Park” is a great accomplishment-we can’t lie,” said co-creators Matt
Stone and Trey Parker.
The irreverent comedy has been renewed on Comedy Central through 2027 and will expand with a total of 14 original movies on Paramount+, in the co-creators’ massive deal with ViacomCBS.
Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, South Park has taken on a number of topics ranging from vaccines, Q-Anon and more with its specials. The first in 2020 was South Park’s ‘Pandemic Special,’ which marked the series’ best ratings in seven years.

Paramount+ shared a sneak peek clip for its upcoming South Park: Post Covid special event, which debuts on Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 25.
In the latest look at the Paramount+ special, Stan and dad Randy are still up to no good as their latest antics brings them to a doctor’s office. After receiving some news from the medical expert, an aged Randy attacks his doctor and encourages adult Stan to kick him in the groin.
“Kick his f**king balls so we can go,” Randy instructs his son, who eventually follows through.
After the doctor’s down wincing in pain, Stan grabs his keys and the father-son duo exit the office to wreak some more havoc.
Per Paramount+, in South Park: Post Covid, viewers will find out the answer to the question: What happened to the children who lived through the pandemic? Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny survived but will never be the same post-Covid.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, co-creators of South Park, have signed a sweeping renewal with ViacomCBS that will keep the show on Comedy Central through 2027 and send 14 original movies to Paramount+.
The official announcement of the deal did not specify a dollar figure but multiple press reports pegged it at $900 million, one of the richest ever. While the new pact is a sign of the company looking to feed its own platforms, ViacomCBS set a lucrative licensing pact with WarnerMedia for a chunk of the show’s library to stream on HBO Max, though it retained many key rights.
Two of the original South Park films will premiere on Paramount+ in 2021, with two a year planned through 2027.

“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have set an expansive new deal with ViacomCBS’ MTV Entertainment Studios that calls for the pair to produce 14 movies for Paramount Plus based on the enduring Comedy Central animated franchise.
The pact also renews “South Park” as a series for Comedy Central through its 30th season in 2027. Bloomberg News reported that the deal was valued at $900 million over the six-year term.
That’s an eye-popping number that includes the license fees for 14 movies and three additional 10-episode seasons of the “South Park” series, produced through the pair’s Park County banner. It’s understood that the deal calls for ViacomCBS to advance Parker and Stone $150 million a year to cover their fees for the upcoming productions as well as their ongoing profit participation stakes from the franchise.
That deal puts a $1 billion-plus valuation on Park County, which also encompasses Parker and Stone...
