Sony Unveils Days Gone Remastered with New Modes, but It’s a Weak Consolation for the Canceled Sequel
Image
Sony has recently unveiled Days Gone Remastered for PS5 and PS5 Pro with a lot of improvements, better optimization, and new game modes. However, this is not enough to make up for canceling the sequel. Fans were excited about updates on the sequel, but they instead got bombed by the news of it being shelved last year. They will now only get the upcoming remastered version.

The upcoming Days Gone Remastered will play better than the previous game, largely because the developers have improved upon the graphical quality as well as added many accessibility options to make the game even more immersive than before.

“Almost forgot about Kratos not wanting to kill Orkos”: God of War Creator David Jaffe’s Biggest Problem With Kratos Doesn’t Resonate With All Fans
Image
There’s no argument over the fact that Kratos is one of the most recognizable names in the entirety of video gaming history. The protagonist of the God of War franchise is a demigod who’s capable of saving many and wreaking havoc on anything that stands in his way.

While fans worship Kratos, God of War‘s creator doesn’t like the current state of the character and feels like he has lost his way due to development choices. However, gamers can’t understand this wild take in the slightest.

“Ragnarok didn’t give us that”: Atreus Can’t Retire Kratos From God of War Franchise Because He’s Still a “Terrible Character”
Image
David Jaffe has never been one to hold back his opinions, and when it comes to the franchise he brought to life, he’s particularly unfiltered. The God of War creator recently shared some rather pointed thoughts about Atreus, the character many assumed would eventually inherit the series from his father, Kratos.

Never one to shy away from controversy. | Image Credit: David Jaffe/YouTube

In a candid YouTube discussion with Days Gone director John Garvin, Jaffe didn’t just question Atreus’ readiness to lead the franchise—he practically tore the idea to shreds. And his scathing assessment of Atreus’ character raises serious questions about the future direction of the franchise.

The timing couldn’t be more relevant, as Santa Monica Studio finds itself at a crossroads following God of War Ragnarök’s conclusion. But is Jaffe’s assessment fair, or is this just another case of a creator being unable...

“The story demanded it. Shut up. F**k you”: The Last of Us’ Neil Druckmann Made 1 Huge Mistake with Uncharted 4 Per God of War Creator David Jaffe
Image
God of War creator David Jaffe has never been one to mince words, and his latest target is none other than The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann. In a recent video featuring Days Gone director John Garvin, Jaffe took aim at Druckmann’s creative choices in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, particularly the decision to have protagonist Nathan Drake retire from his adventuring lifestyle.

Bend Studio Puts Days Gone 2 Rumors to Rest: “Time to Move On”
Bend Studio’s community manager, Kevin McAllister, has definitively quashed rumors and speculation about a potential sequel to Days Gone, urging fans to “move on” from hopes of a Days Gone 2.

Insomniac Data Hack Reveals Surprising Sales Figures for Bloodborne, Days Gone, and Horizon

Why a Video Game Studio Is Banking on a TikTok Star to Introduce a Franchise
Image
The timeline for a successful video game franchise usually goes like this: The game comes out and soon becomes popular among players. Avid fans start creating content inspired by the game and their favorite characters, helping bring that IP into pop culture. There might be a movie or TV adaptation. And as more people are introduced to the game’s world, more fans are created, leading to more demand for derivative content. Et cetera, et cetera.

But the leaders at Liithos, a multimedia gaming studio led by former PlayStation executives, are about to do things a little differently with their first studio IP, Ashfall, which is set in a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest ravaged by climate change, civilian fighting and mutations caused by a dark energy. The series follows Ash Naranjo, a character who was born without arms and is given cyborg-like implants to help him save his family and homeland.

Why Some ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Costumes Took Over 200 Hours to Build
Image
Director James Cameron and costume designer Deborah Lynn Scott first worked together 25 years ago on “Titanic,” which went on to win 11 Oscars including best picture, director and costume design. Since then, the two have collaborated on “Avatar” and its long-awaited sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water,” and will continue their partnership with the next films in the franchise.

Q&A with Days Gone Composer Nathan Whitehead
Conveying somber inner struggles and the intense threat of zombie-esque creatures known as Freakers in the same score is no easy task, but composer Nathan Whitehead is up to the challenge with his emotional music for Days Gone. With the open-world post-apocalyptic video game out now for the PlayStation 4, we caught up with Whitehead for our latest Q&A feature to discuss the eclectic instruments he used for the Days Gone score, using music to enhance the internal struggles of the game's main character and the external threats in equal measure, and his work on The Purge films (including how his music for The Purge: Anarchy helped him get the composer gig for Days Gone).

Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us, Nathan, and congratulations on your score for Days Gone. How did you get involved as the composer for Days Gone?

Nathan Whitehead: Thanks very much!

New One-Sheet For James Cameron Produced Sci-Fi Thriller Sanctum
The new 3D thriller 'Sanctum' has been gifted with a brand spanking new one-sheet for all to enjoy. The flick is executively produced by James Cameron and therefore 'must' splash his two previous blockbusting credits on the poster. 'Titanic' and sci-fi actioner 'Avatar', which did the incredible thing of making 'Titanic' suddenly seem bearable, are nicely highlighted to help entice unsuspecting audiences to mindlessly wander into their local multiplex expecting spectacle and little substance. But let's hope director Alister Grierson and scripters Andrew Wight and John Garvin (who also stars) can bring a little more to the underwater table. 'Fantastic Four' star Ioan Gruffudd appears alongside Richard Roxburgh ('Van Helsing'), Alice Parkinson (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Rhys Wakefield, Dan Wyllie, Allison Cratchley, Christopher Baker and John Garvin. Check out the poster below....
