Bryan Cranston Vows to Not Complete New Film Until Cast & Crew Are Paid
Image
When you work, you're supposed to get paid. As simple as that sentence is, in the movie business, sometimes things happen that make being paid a stressful challenge. Usually, those hardships fall onto the lesser-known cast members and crew members who work long, tiresome hours to bring a production to an audience. The stars of a project work hard too, but they're usually paid, and most times don't have to worry about when their checks are coming. This is why it's imperative for those in higher positions to stand by their fellow cast and crew members, just like Bryan Cranston. The actor is starring in an indie film, Lone Wolf, that has had a few financial setbacks, and he's speaking out about the situation.

Cranston has spent decades building a resume full of credits that span all areas, including television, movies, music videos, theater, and more. His ability to be...

'What a Mess': Bryan Cranston 'Distressed' Over His New Movie's Troubles Behind the Scenes
Image
The hotly-anticipated thrillerLone Wolf starring Bryan Cranston just ran into a major production issue.

Per Deadline, cast, crew members, and vendors who worked on Lone Wolf have reportedly gone unpaid, with the project facing what is reportedly a $2 million shortfall that needs to be made up before production on the film can resume. The report notes that the film's lead actors, which include Cranston and Lily Gladstone, are not among those affected, and that the film's financiers are currently working to close the funding gap in question.

Producer Jordan Wagner, who leads Wagner Media Finance, reportedly told Deadline, "This process has been extremely challenging and, at times, frustrating. We originally stepped in to provide a short-term bridge loan to support the producers and financiers, based on contractual assurances that our capital would be repaid within a matter of months. However, after fully funding our loan, the production encountered significant complications,...

Bryan Cranston Addresses ‘Lone Wolf’ Troubles, Vows Not To Film Or Promote Movie “Until Every Cast And Crew Member Is Paid Back In Full”
Image
Exclusive: Bryan Cranston has made his position clear regarding the ongoing funding challenges facing indie movie Lone Wolf.

In a message to Deadline, which you can read in full below, the Breaking Bad and Trumbo star said he won’t return to finish filming or promote the feature until all cast and crew that are owed money are paid back in full. A “distressed” Cranston, who himself has been paid for his work to date, has spoken to multiple co-stars who are still owed money.

As we revealed earlier today, there is around a $2M shortfall in funding on the project, whose shoot came to an abrupt halt months ago. Crew, vendors and some cast are still owed at least one week’s wages, and there remains filming to be done. As noted by financier-producer Jordan Wagner to us today, the project suffered a “breakdown in the financing structure”, and...

‘Lone Wolf’ Producer Describes “Extremely Challenging Process” As Crew & Actors On Movie Remain Unpaid & Movie Is Still Unfinished Months After Wrap
Image
Exclusive: Months after Deadline’s report of funding trouble on the conspiracy thriller Lone Wolf, starring Bryan Cranston and Lily Gladstone, many of the crew, vendors and some of the cast remain out of pocket, they have told us.

The movie still is facing a shortfall of around $2 million before it can complete, and there still is filming to be done with the lead actors before post-production can start. The financiers have been trying to get on the same page and close the funding gap for months, looking into various paths to funding. The lead actors are not among those still owed money.

Wagner Media Finance, led by producer Jordan Wagner, has had to step in to take over the production entity, having been assigned it from Yale Productions, which recently went bankrupt. Wagner has been a producer on the project from the outset and has credits as a financier including Hypnotic,...

SAG-AFTRA’s ‘Here’s Looking At You L.A.’ & Mayor Karen Bass Push For State & Federal Tax Incentives To Get Hollywood Working Again
Image
In a soiree intersection of media, labor and real politick, SAG-AFTRA wants to pull the home of Hollywood together to get Tinseltown working again.

“Revitalizing California’s most recognizable industry isn’t just about making things better for show business, it’s about making things better for everyone,” proclaimed Joely Fisher last week at a literal and figurative high level get-together in the penthouse of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation .

As uncertainty rolls an industry already rocked by change and contraction, the words of the SAG-AFTRA Secretary-Treasurer and National Government Affairs and Public Policy Committee co-chair had an added resonance on May 8 with below-the-line workers and almost everyone else hurting hard as production and jobs are scarce.

In the hopes of turning things around, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s aim of pumping up the Golden State’s film and TV tax incentives to $750 million annually is moving steadily through the Legislature in Sacramento with deep support.

Cast also includes O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Jennifer Ehle, Chet Hanks and Spencer Garrett. The producing team includes Oscar nominee Christine Vachon and vet Ted Hope alongside others.

How ‘The Residence’ Creator Turned a White House Memoir Into Netflix’s Next Great Whodunnit

Created by Paul William Davies and based on the non-fiction book “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House” by Kate Andersen Brower, the series delivers a meticulous survey on the lives and inner workings of the White House staff, through the scope of a sweeping murder investigation led by Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba), known as “the best detective in the world.”

She is brought in to investigate after White House chief usher A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito) is found dead in the Game Room in the middle of an official state dinner for Australia,...

‘The Residence’ Wants to Be ‘Only Murders in the White House.’ It Just Isn’t Funny
Image
The success of Only Murders in the Building might seem, at first glance, like an unqualified good. It got nominated for a ton of awards. It created work for countless New York theater actors. It helped cement Selena Gomez’s transition from child to adult actor. It made a real-life couple out of Martin Short and Meryl Streep. But, sadly, there is one big downside: the knockoffs.

It’s not like Only Murders invented the whodunnit; it just broke out with a specific comedic style, and now too many creators think they can make a version that’s similar enough to pass. Bodkin drops a dour brunette among friendly chatters, like Mabel (Gomez) with her Only Murders neighbors. Based on A True Story makes true-crime fanatics face their own murder mystery, like the trio of podcast fans at the heart of Only Murders. Death and Other Details borrows both the...

Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito) has been found dead by the president's mother-in-law Nan (Jane Curtin), and even though the president's chief adviser Harry Hollinger (Ken Marin) wants to quickly rule the death a suicide given the cuts on his wrists, Cordelia knowns there's much more to the story. As the character description teases for Aduba’s role, Cupp is “an astute observer of human behavior, with a distinctive and – to some, unsettling – conversational style. As she dives deeper into the evening’s events and key suspects,...

When you were starring in Barney, could you have ever imagined that you’d be on a red carpet today being asked about receiving Oscar buzz for Spanish-language musical?

I would have never believed you. But believe it or not,...
