‘Umbrella Academy’ Star Reflects On Lila & Five's Controversial Storyline In Final Season
Image
The final season of The Umbrella Academy was divisive among fans for many reasons, but one element in particular sparked major controversy: the romance between Aiden Gallagher's Five and Ritu Arya's Lila. Viewers unanimously disliked this pairing for several reasons — one of which being that Lila was already married at that point in time, to Five's brother Diego (David Castaneda) — but Arya has since spoken up about the unpopular relationship, offering a far more favorable opinion.

Speaking with Collider about her newest project, Paris Has Fallen, Arya also addressed fans' less-than-enthusiastic reactions to the romance between Five and Lila. Surprisingly, she seemed to be a fan of their dynamic, stating, "I absolutely loved my storyline. I thought it was really creative and smart. I love art that pushes boundaries and creates conversations." Despite this enthusiasm, however, she did add that the final season's shorter length made it difficult to...

The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Has Its Best Guest Stars in Its Worst Season
Image
Mary J. Blige & Cameron Britton excel as Cha Cha & Hazel, Blige from music to acting. Kate Walsh impresses in a different role as The Handler in a controlling yet odd character portrayal. Megan Mullally & Nick Offerman shine as the malevolent couple Jean & Gene, despite Season 4 flaws.

The Umbrella Academy is about a dysfunctional family. A superpowered dysfunctional family that causes a lot of apocalypses one per season, in fact. The series also features a lot of guest stars, some of whom are famous faces. It's these individuals we're talking about here. In the first season, there were Mary J. Blige and Cameron Britton as assassins Cha Cha and Hazel. Starting in Episode 5 of Season 1, but especially in Season 2, there was Kate Walsh as The Handler, who controlled the lives of people like Cha Cha and Hazel. And in Season 4, there was David Cross as Sy Grossman, the dry cleaner who...

The Umbrella Academy is a show about a family albeit a dysfunctional family that consists of seven adopted, superpowered children and one alien father. Strongest Characters in The Originals, Ranked
Image
The Vampire Diaries captivated the world with supernatural creatures and enticing love stories, but certain characters stood out. Those deadly Original Vampires got their own spinoff, The Originals, which took them back to the crucible of supernatural happeningsNew Orleans. The Original Vampires, namely Klaus, Rebekah, Elijah, Kol and Finn Mikaelson, became antagonists in Vampire Diaries season 2 but grew even more popular than the leading trio.

Seeing how Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, and Hayley were already some of the strongest beings in the Tvdu, it was obvious that the other characters of The Originals would also have immense powers unlike any other. In addition to the Mikaelsons, New Orleans was full of other characters who had enhanced abilities, cementing their places as the most powerful characters in The Originals.

The Umbrella Academy Stars Tease the Finale of the Hit Superhero Netflix Series
Image
The time has come that we have to say goodbye to The Umbrella Academy as season four - the final season of the well-loved series about the superpowered Hargreeves siblings - hits Netflix from today. If you've binge-watched the series already, you know what happens to Allison, Viktor, Luther, and the rest of their dark, deranged family. If not, then know that you should expect a bittersweet and very satisfying ending. At least according to the stars, who shared their thoughts on the series' end during the recent premiere in Los Angeles.

Since the first season of The Umbrella Academy debuted on Netflix, the dark, unorthodox superhero series has been praised for its drama, gloomy humor, and stellar performances. Just like the fans themselves, who have anxiously been awaiting the arrival of season four ever since the teaser trailer earlier this year, the cast can barely contain their excitement for whats to come next.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 4 Review: Netflix Superhero Drama Wrecks Its Ending
Image
For the Hargreeves siblings, the end of the world is getting a little old hat. After all, they’ve thwarted an impending apocalypse every season since “The Umbrella Academy” premiered on Netflix in 2019 (nevermind that they’ve also inadvertently caused all of them), so it makes sense that after sidestepping the kugelblitz at the end of Season 3, they’d be ready for a break.

That’s where we meet them at the beginning of Season 4, which picks up six years after we last saw the dysfunctional family stumble into a new reality where none of them had superpowers. For some, such as Viktor (Elliot Page) and Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), getting to live life as regular humans was a relief. For others, who defined themselves by their superhuman abilities, “normal” life presented a unique challenge, and they struggled to adapt. But after six years, they’ve all settled into their new,...

A New Timeline and The Sparrow Academy

The Hargreeves finally return to the present after the entirety of Season 2 was spent in the ’60s. When they get back, they find things quite changed. Their father Reginald’s...

[This story includes major spoilers for the third season of The Umbrella Academy.]

The third season of The Umbrella Academy picks up right where it left off with the Umbrellas now back in their original timeline. But nothing is how they left it at the end of season one.

There’s a new group of superhumans living in their home — and the Umbrella Academy doesn’t exist. After meeting six of his kids in 1963 during season two, Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) decides to adopt a different batch of seven kids, who are known as “the Sparrow Academy” and are fiercer than the Umbrellas ever were.

Over the course of the new season, which was released on Netflix Wednesday, the Sparrows and the Umbrellas dance around each other (literally and figuratively), looking for ways to either defeat the other group of superhumans or convince them they’re trustworthy, only to betray them in one way or another.

Why It's a Good Thing The Umbrella Academy TV Show and Comic Book Are So Different
Image

Amazon

and Netflix

Like many other book-to-tv adaptations, Netflix's The Umbrella Academy strays away from its original source material - and that may actually be a good thing. The first season of The Umbrella Academy takes inspiration from volume one of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá's comic book series called The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite, while season two takes its inspiration from volume two of the comic book series called The Umbrella Academy: Dallas. Notice how I said it takes "inspiration from" versus being "based upon"? Well, that's because minus the characters and a storyline or two . . . there isn't really much similarity between the iterations.

In the first season of The Umbrella Academy, the Hargreeves siblings join together when their long lost brother, Number Five (Aidan Gallagher), returns to present day and tells them the world is ending in eight days. Over the course of the first season,...

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Review: Season 2 Almost Finds a Satisfying Way Out of Its Apocalypse Problem
Image
You only get to end the world so many times. As much as the apocalypse has reared its ugly head across TV series in the past six months — not to mention the preceding years — there are ways to spin the dread of an imploding planet into a compelling story. There just have to be things worth saving.

In its first season, the Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy” (based on the comics series from Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá) followed its source material predecessor and zeroed in on a handful of adopted family members with incredible abilities. Faced with certainty that a cataclysm of explosions and fallout would come to pass if this ragtag group didn’t act as one, wouldn’t you know it, their actions caused the dang thing.

Season 2 burdens this misfit family of Hargreeves with the same directive: prevent global catastrophe. What makes this new round of...

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Well, the Hargreeves siblings are learning that the hard way after having gone back in time to fix Vanya's 2019 apocalypse. This disruption in the timeline seems to have caused even more damage.

In The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode 1, the six siblings all land in Dallas, TX, scattered throughout three years.

Five is the last to land and finds out they've somehow caused an entirely new apocalypse!

Hazel finds the "Oldtimer" and tells him to "come with me if you want to live," before transporting them back ten days.

It was so sad to hear Agnes died of cancer! Yet, there is a comfort in knowing the two had 20 good years together.

We only got a quick glimpse of him, but Hazel returning to assist Five in stopping yet another apocalypse was a perfect ending to his story. He was...

‘Umbrella Academy’ Season 2 Opening Scene Drops Ahead of Premiere (Watch)
Image
When “The Umbrella Academy” reveals its second season on Netflix on July 31, it will find the Hargreeves thrown back six decades, separated and fending for their lives.

A three-minute preview of the upcoming season opens after Five (Aidan Gallagher) throws the siblings back in time to escape the apocalypse that Vanya (Ellen Page) precipitated in 2019. But Five’s attempt to save his family has its shortcomings, dropping them in Dallas over a three-year period from 1960 to 1963 and causing another doomsday involving the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Landing in a 1963 warzone, Five picks up a newspaper with the headline “Soviets Attack U.S.: JFK Declares War on Reds.”

“No, this can’t be right,” says Five in the opening scene of the new season, which you can watch above. “What the hell did we do now?”

In the backstory of the live-action series, on the same day in October...

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Review (Spoiler-Free)
Image
Any successful sophomore season has to build on the strengths of its predecessor, particularly in the areas of world building and characterization, and create a compelling new conflict to grab the audience’s attention, and The Umbrella Academy season 2 does just that. One would think that presenting another impending apocalypse for which our heroes are once again responsible would be repetitive, but if anything, this end-of-the-world scenario is even more thrilling because it places everything and everyone in the context of 1960s Dallas just before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a quintessential time travel setup second only to going back and killing Hitler.

Everyone on the team (even Ben; especially Ben!) is a thousand times more interesting in this new setting, and they were already pretty incredible to begin with! This article is billed as a spoiler-free review — and it is! — but we’ll have to at least...

Netflix Unveils ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 2 Trailer (Watch)
Image
Netflix has released the official trailer for Season 2 of superhero series “The Umbrella Academy,” premiering July 31.

This time, the Hargreeves family finds themselves in 1960s Dallas, where they must face yet another apocalypse. After the events of the Season 1 finale, the family has been split up through time, all ending up with very different lives, including: Klaus is now the leader of a cult (naturally), Diego seems to be locked up in a mental hospital, and Allison appears to be involved in the Civil Rights movement. But somehow, the apocalypse they were looking to avoid is still going to happen, so they must reunite and figure out how their new realities are all connected to save the world.

All of the Hargreeves will return in Season 2, including Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher and Justin H. Min.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Trailer: Same Weird Family, New Problems!
Elliot Page, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, Aidan Gallagher, and Emmy Raver-Lampman in The Umbrella Academy (2019)
The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will hit the air Friday, July 31st.

Netflix has now dropped the official trailer that teases a whole lot of information.

Five warned his family that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right - the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas.

Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived.

Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which - spoiler alert! - turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline.

Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2: Premiere Date Announced!
Elliot Page, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, Aidan Gallagher, and Emmy Raver-Lampman in The Umbrella Academy (2019)
It's almost time to return to the wonderful and super world of The Umbrella Academy.

Netflix has announced a premiere date for the second season of the hit drama series.

July 31 is the lucky date, and unlike many other shows that have been affected due to the Covid-19 outbreak, The Umbrella Academy Season 2 completed principal photography ahead of the shut down.

Thankfully, post-production was able to continue while the stay at home orders continued, allowing fans to get their fill of one of Netflix's finest series this summer.

On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before.

Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his "children" to save the world.

Now, the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father's passing and must work together to solve a mystery surrounding his death.

Legacies Season 2 Episode 9 Review: I Couldn't Have Done This Without You
All hail the Necromancer!

Legacies Season 2 Episode 9 finally lifted the lid on what the hilarious villain had been up to since he peaced out of the Salvatore School holding cells on Legacies Season 1, and it was a satisfying way to set up the second half of Legacies Season 2.

It was perfect that The Necromancer got spat out of Malivore in Texas with no powers, sporting a human face, and forced to work in an ice cream store because it gave viewers all of the witty one-liners you would expect.

Chad was an idiot for following him from the get-go, but charismatic serial killers always seem to get followers, so we can't fault Legacies for that one.

The most surprising aspect of The Necromancer's return is that, in his own way, maybe Malivore was giving him some semblance of peace. Living as a human is not for everyone, but it certainly...

Unbelievable Review: Another Solid True Crime Series for Netflix
Netflix is well-known for its expansive slate of original series, but its roster of true-crime series are starting to emerge as the highest quality series on the streamer.

The latest effort is Unbelievable, an eight-part limited series that follows a young girl named Marie (Booksmart's Kaitlyn Dever) who is charged with lying about being raped, and the plight of two female detectives tasked with finding out the truth.

From the get-go, it's apparent that the series wants to shine a light on sexual assault, and it does so in an explicit way that will probably make it difficult for some viewers to get through.

That opening installment is not for the faint of heart.

That episode pivots from present to past, showing Marie in the present, as well as flashes of her version of events.

Pearson Season 1 Episode 9 Review: The Rival
Can we fling that angry, horny man Pearson calls a mayor in the sun? Can he take Angela with him?

Interestingly enough, Pearson Season 1 Episode 9 set Bobby and Angela against one another. It was an inevitability.

What's funny is that both of them make it difficult to determine whose side you're on. It's a wonder Jessica hasn't lost her marbles dealing with both of them as they share a quality of behaving like petulant toddlers.

It seems the only person who isn't gunning for Jessica's throat at every turn is Yoli. God bless Yoli and the badass, titleless business cards she gifted Jessica as thanks for helping with her mother.

Everyone else demands that Jessica fix things, but they either refuse her solutions or withheld information that makes it hard for her to find one.

The Good Doctor Season 3 Trailer: Who's Getting Married?
We are less than two weeks away from the premiere of The Good Doctor Season 3 and ABC has dropped the first official trailer.

It looks set to pick up in the immediate aftermath of The Good Doctor Season 2 Episode 18 which found Shaun asking Carly to go on a date with him.

But that doesn't mean it's all going to be plain sailing. Carly wants her and Shaun to be the ones at the wheel of their relationship.

In one scene, she tells Claire to butt out and to stop interfering. It makes sense that Carly would want people to stay out, but Shaun prefers to turn to those he trusts for assistance.

That probably explains why he's asking for some help from Glassman.
