Taught Jack Black to play the guitar.

Attended UCLA, where he met Tim Robbins.

Was a member of Tim Robbins' Actor's Gang, where he met Jack Black and JR Reed ("Lee" in the Tenacious D (1997) series and upcoming Tenacious D film).

Aside from Tenacious D, performs in a group called Trainwreck with JR Reed, who played "Lee" in the 1999 HBO series Tenacious D (1997).

Appears in the Good Charlotte music video "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous".

Ex-girlfriend, Tracy Young, has a cameo in the Tenacious D episode "Death of the Dream" in the scene where Jack & Kyle perform "Kielbasa Sausage" at her doorstep.

First major break was starring in a 7-Up (7-UP Gold) TV commercial.

Is of German descent.

Played a high school teacher in a sitcom pilot titled "It's Not About Me" filmed in early 2002. The pilot (The Jake Effect (2003)) created by Jonathan Groff (Ed (2000)), also stars Jason Bateman, Nikki Cox, Greg Grunberg, Leslie Grossman and Patricia Belcher.

Graduated from Las Lomas High School in California.
