Freddie Germanos was one of the most loved Greek journalists and authors. He was born in Greece, Athens, where he stayed throughout the second World War.

Freddie was one of the most senior journalists of TV in Greece, when the state channel started transmitting back in the 60s. One of the most loved TV shows that he was presenting was Alati kai piperi (1968), where famous Greek people could discuss everything and anything. Freddie also met JFK, and although he wanted to interview the President of the USA about the political problems of the period, he noticed that one of the books in his office was of Konstantinos Kafavis, the Greek poet, and their quick talk was about these poems.

Three decades later all of his books were best-sellers and Freddie was one of the most-beloved and read authors of Greece. 'Tereza', the last of his Great best sellers, was about the true love story of Ernest Hemingway with Greek model Picasso Tereza. He also wrote about the lives of Elli Lambeti, Sofie Mineiko Papandreou, and Sofia Kapodistria, and the tragic love story between Ion Dragoumi and Pinelopi Delta. He refused to write the biography of Melina Mercouri, famous actress of the 60s, because she was one of his best friends.

KYR, the famous comic creator of Greece was Freddie's best friend. His daughter is Natalia Germanou, a popular radio producer, and his spouse was Maria Ioannidou, Greek actress. During May 2002 the city of Athens honoured Freddie, KYR creating a small marble with his face, in order to be put in his favourite bookstores, ESTIA.

Freddie Germanos died from Cancer, and is greatly missed, because of his talent and personality.
