RZA On His New Film ‘One Spoon of Chocolate,’ And His Growth As a Filmmaker: “I Honestly Feel Like I Have Arrived”
RZA at an event for Cut Throat City (2020)
Before making his fourth feature film, the action revenge thriller One Spoon of Chocolate, legendary rapper and music producer RZA was still, he confesses, unsure of himself as a filmmaker, feeling that he hadn’t yet mastered the process, the “rhythms” as he calls it, of being a director, at least not to the same comfort level he had with music.

After scaling the heights of hip hop as the de facto head of the Wu-Tang Clan, arguably the most influential rap group in history, RZA has found increasing success in film and television, firstly as an actor — he has starred in films like American Gangster (2007), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) and Nobody (2021) and series like Californication — and more significantly with writing and directing. His directorial debut, 2012’s The Man With the Iron Fists, starred Oscar-winner Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista and Lucy Lu. RZA followed that with Love Beats Rhymes, a musical drama starring Azelia Banks,...

How Radamiz Found His Focus And Made One Of The Best Rap Albums Of 2025
Image
When I open my Zoom conversation with Brooklyn-born, LA-based Mc Radamiz, he’s a one-week newlywed, and Lightman, his first full-length LP in six years, had just dropped. It’s a momentous time for him that feels like a consequence of the intention he pours into every aspect of his life, including his artistry. He’s been a respected name in the indie rap scene since dropping 2016’s Writeous and following it up with nine more projects since, developing a reputation for sharp lyricism and forthright storytelling so palpable that...

2 Years Ago, ‘One Piece’ Turned Luffy Into the Classic Chosen One
Image
Exactly 2 years ago today, Luffy officially unlocked the Gear 5 transformation that made him a part of the Chosen One trope in One Piece. Since the beginning, Luffy has been loved by One Piece fans because of his uniqueness that separates him from other typical Shonen main characters.

However, when Eiichiro Oda started hinting that Luffy’s destiny might hold something bigger than him becoming the Pirate King in One Piece, things got a little too complicated. The Gear 5 transformation that he unleashed during the Wano arc was the final nail in the coffin, which confirmed that Luffy is also a “Chosen One” who has his fate written out for him, and he might not be able to change it even if he wanted to.

While it’s understandable that Luffy needed this power up to become strong in One Piece, it took away a major part of his identity, and...

Shanks Being the Destined One Makes Him the Only ‘One Piece’ Character Who May Never Fulfill His Dream
Image
Ever since the One Piece storyline revealed that Shanks is a child of destiny, a lot of things about his character development have started to make sense. While it is truly a great detail, it still might have stopped him from achieving his one goal in life, which he recently talked about in One Piece chapter 1152. This goal also reflects the friendship that he wanted to have with Buggy.

Buggy was Roger’s apprentice, just like Shanks, and the two of them were quite close. In fact, Shanks wanted to form a pirate crew along with Buggy, but he couldn’t achieve his dream because destiny intervened. Now, another character is living his dream, and this character is none other than his biggest rival within the One Piece storyline, Dracule Mihawk.

Mihawk is currently Buggy’s partner, along with Crocodile, and the three of them are running the Cross Guild together.

Raekwon Chefs Up Some Raw Classic New York Rap On ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’
Image
Hip-hop is no longer solely youth culture; it’s just culture, with cross-generational scenes full of artists intent on capturing their era’s zeitgeist. But Raekwon The Chef’s latest solo album, The Emperor’s New Clothes, was unquestionably tailored for the 35-and-up hip-hop heads who descended upon Madison Square Garden to see the Wu-Tang Clan’s possible final hometown show last week. There are no stunt features or out-of-touch Gen Z reaches here, just a 17-track dose of raw, New York City hip-hop.

As I noted in my show review,...

Wu-Tang Forever: Hip-Hop Legends Deliver a Triumphant Farewell at the Wells Fargo Center
RZA
On a warm summer night in the City of Brotherly Love, history was made as the Wu-Tang Clan took the stage for what was billed as their final show — and they went out in epic fashion. The Wells Fargo Center was electric with energy as thousands of fans gathered to witness the legendary hip-hop collective deliver a performance that was equal parts celebration, reflection, and unfiltered lyrical fire. Direct support for this tour came from Run The Jewels who also put on an electrifying performance.

From the moment the lights dimmed and the iconic opening chords of “Bring da Ruckus” echoed through the arena, it was clear that Wu-Tang wasn’t here to say goodbye quietly. With all living members present — RZA, Gza, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna — the group launched into a masterclass in hip-hop showmanship. Their chemistry was as potent as ever,...

One Piece: I Can’t Believe I Missed the Loki and Nico Robin Connection
Image
Ever since Loki’s character was introduced in One Piece, I have been really intrigued by his unique development as an anti-hero within the series. From facing the hatred of his entire nation to being accused of killing his own father, Loki has gone through a sad streak that makes fans sympathize with him.

However, I recently realized that these heartbreaking plotlines of Loki’s character draw similarity with another complex One Piece character who is, in fact, a significant member of the Straw Hat Pirates. This character is none other than Nico Robin, the archaeologist of the crew. Robin’s character has also gone through a series of sad twists that caused a lot of pain.

I also feel like these similarities between Loki and other One Piece characters are getting a little annoying at this point in time. Loki was a great character, and he was supposed to have a unique identity,...

One Piece: Shanks May Be Actively Trying to Avoid His Destiny
Image
Eiichiro Oda has written quite a few intriguing characters who are shrouded in mystery, but nothing beats Red Haired Shanks. He’s a fan favorite, a mentor to Luffy since the beginning of One Piece, and has a complex past that’s slowly unraveling itself in the Final Saga.

Fans had predicted that Shanks was a secret Celestial Dragon for a while, ever since it was revealed that the Roger Pirates found him in a chest they stole from God Valley. Shamrock then confirmed it in the Elbaph Arc.

One Piece’s latest chapter also shows a conversation with Gaban 14 years ago, where he calls him a child of destiny. What is this destiny, and does it have to do with Shanks’ heritage, and why is his arm now missing?

Shanks might be a child of destiny, but his actions tell us that he wants freedom

One Piece Theory: Loki’s Devil Fruit May Be a Copy of the Gum Gum Fruit
Image
No spoiler content found.

Among the many mysteries introduced in the Elbaph arc in One Piece, the one that fans are the most excited to find out about is the Legendary Devil Fruit. This Devil Fruit is passed through the royal bloodline of Elbaph and, in a way, became the reason for King Harald’s death and Loki’s imprisonment as a culprit.

The only major detail known about this Devil Fruit is that Loki ate it and became the strongest giant in the history of Elbaph. He started to call himself the Sun God, which motivated fans to believe that maybe this Devil Fruit is somehow connected to Luffy’s Nika fruit in One Piece.

While there can be many interpretations of this, a One Piece theory claims that the Nika fruit is actually the original Legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaph, and what Loki ate was a copy of...

Eiichiro Oda Foreshadowed Luffy Being the Sun God Nika in the Skypiea Arc
Image
The world of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece saw the biggest change when Luffy was revealed to be the Sun God Nika, the warrior of liberation. This was a twist that was anticipated by fans, but still, it managed to shock everyone because of the way Oda portrayed it during Wano.

The concept of Sun God Nika might have been introduced recently, but the One Piece mangaka has been hinting at it for a long time. In fact, what fans don’t know is that Luffy, being the Sun God, was first revealed during Skypiea, one of the most crucial storylines.

When Luffy clashed with Enel, Oda created parallels between the One Piece protagonist and Nika. These parallels are quite evident now since Nika has established his place within the narrative.

The lore of Sun God Nika in One Piece

According to the official One Piece timeline, the name of...

One Piece: Loki’s True Identity May Be Exactly Why He Cannot Become the 10th Straw Hat Pirate
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for One Piece chapter 1152.

The recent spoilers of One Piece chapter 1152 have revealed another interesting interaction between the series’ protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, and the most important character from Elbaph, Loki. This interaction has been speculated by One Piece fans for a long time, and it looks like fans will get to see it in the upcoming manga chapter.

The interaction involves Luffy asking Loki to become a member of the Straw Hat Pirate crew. Ever since Loki’s character was introduced in One Piece, Oda has been hinting that Loki might join the crew and become a significant member, as he is powerful, and he would help elevate the overall strength of the Straw Hat Pirates.

However, Loki joining the crew might not be possible at all because of his true identity within the series. He has claimed that he is the Sun God,...

“Nika is a psychopath”: One Piece Has Hinted Why Joy Boy Wasn’t ‘All Good’ With Luffy Since the Start
Image
Ever since Luffy has been revealed as the reincarnation of Sun God Nika, One Piece fans have had a mixed opinion about it. While some enjoy the aspect of Luffy being the liberator of the One Piece world, others believe that this Chosen One narrative has taken away Luffy’s uniqueness as a Shonen protagonist, which is harmful for his development.

It burdens Luffy’s character with a goal that he needs to accomplish in the end, no matter what, because it is the only way to save the world. However, a recent twist by Eiichiro Oda has made fans believe that maybe Luffy might not be a part of some grand destiny.

There is a possibility that Sun God Nika was not a good mythological figure after all, and this could change the entire narrative. There is evidence that proves that Nika was a psychopath, and he has had...

One Piece: Elbaph May Completely Ditch Luffy’s Chosen One Trope With a Second Nika
Image
Ever since the Chosen One trope was introduced in the One Piece story, fans have had very complex reviews about Luffy’s character development. This Chosen One trope was embedded within the narrative when it was established that Luffy is indeed the reincarnation of Sun God Nika, who will bring freedom and liberation to the One Piece world.

While it was a decent development considering his role within the story as the main character of the series, some fans didn’t agree with it for a major reason. This reason revolved around Luffy’s identity as the most unique protagonist in the history of the Shonen genre, which made him stand out and, in extension, popular.

However, the Elbaph arc might have brought the biggest twist in Luffy’s development as the Chosen One in One Piece. The storyline has introduced that more than one Nika can exist within the One Piece universe.

The One Piece’s True Nature Might Explain Why Imu Doesn’t Age – Theory
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for One Piece's Elbaph Arc and Chapter 1150!

Now that we’ve entered the Final Saga of One Piece, Imu’s relevance in the storyline is slowly increasing. Upon seeing the God’s Knights fail to swiftly take over Elbaph in the latest chapters, they’ve taken matters into their own hands.

They possessed Gunko and entered the battlefield through her body. Apart from when they chased Sabo down, we didn’t know a lot about Imu’s powers, but One Piece’s Elbaph Arc reveals more and more about the hidden monarch.

Imu is the devil’s reincarnation in the series, capable of turning people into demonic versions of themselves, as they did with Brogy and Dorry, using a power named Domi Reversi. It caused fans to wonder if the name might hint at the One Piece itself and why Imu is immortal.

One Piece: Luffy Might Still Follow Shonen’s Worst Trope but It Still Beats Naruto Spectacularly
Image
According to One Piece chapter 1151, the ongoing events of Elbaph have presented a difficult situation in front of the Straw Hat Pirates, especially their captain, Monkey D. Luffy. The One Piece protagonist not only has to deal with the current antagonists of the series, but he also has to save Elbaph from its downfall.

The sad thing here is that the destruction of Elbaph is being caused by its own people, who are being turned into demons by Imu, the Supreme Leader of the World Government. However, the problem is that Luffy will turn them back in his favor using the worst trope in Shonen’s history.

It is the Chosen One Trope. This trope has been quite common within the anime community, but nobody does it better than Luffy.

Eiichiro Oda might have to use the worst Shonen Trope

Fighting Gear 5 Luffy Is Annoying, Just Ask Kaido and Kizaru
Image
One Piece has flawless comedic timing, and the source of it is almost always Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist whose goal is to be the King of Pirates. He might be in a ruthless world, but the young pirate operates on nothing but vibes. He never has a strategy for his fights either. With the Gomu Gomu no Mi being so versatile, who needs one?

Even during the early days of One Piece, before awakening Gear 5 and gaining his ultimate form and power, Luffy wouldn’t take fights seriously. The Summit War Saga might be the only time he wasn’t playing around. For other arcs, however, he would make a fool out of them.

With antagonists like Arlong, Crocodile, Enel, and so on, he was downright disrespectful and doing unpredictably silly moves to counter them. With the control and power Gear 5 gave Luffy, he was bolder and annoyed them even further.

Devil Fruits are one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece, with several theories and questions surrounding them. The origin of their powers and existence is an anomaly that is yet to be answered. A compelling One Piece theory aims to answer these questions while also proposing a theory that Luffy managed to acquire perfect synchronization with his Devil Fruit through his Gear 5.

August 13th, 2021 saw the Wu-Tang Clan, one of hip-hop’s most iconic and influential collectives, take the stage at Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a performance that defied convention and cemented their legacy as musical innovators. Backed by the 60-piece Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the group delivered a set that blended their raw, gritty Staten Island sound with the lush, expansive tones of classical instrumentation. This wasn’t just a concert, it was a bold experiment, a fusion of genres, and a live scoring of the 1978 martial arts classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, the film that inspired their historical debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Directed by RZA (the group’s visionary leader) and Gerald K. Barclay (aka Gee-Bee), A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre is...

Gunko Isn’t Truly Evil: Oda’s Subtle Hint Has Confirmed a One Piece Tradition That I Wanted to Not Repeat in Elbaph
Image
In the long line of traditions that have been followed throughout the One Piece lore for decades, the one that I have not been able to wrap my head around is the twist in the female characters. The female cast that is involved in the antagonistic side of the story has a habit of changing their opinions and turning towards the morally good side.

From Violet to Pudding, almost all the evil female characters in the story have somehow developed a connection with the Straw Hat Pirates or experience a moral ambiguity that forces them to abandon their original role. And while it works in favor of the One Piece storyline I feel that it has become a recurring process and thus takes away the mystery of the character development.

One Piece: Gunko’s Nika Connection May Be Hinting a Dark Truth About Luffy That Is Yet to Be Revealed
Image
The last few chapters of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga have put a special focus on the members of the God’s Knights and their ultimate goal in Elbaph. They have been evidently confirmed as the main antagonists of the ongoing storyline and will sooner or later ignite a thrilling war that will bring a big change to the story and to the journey of the Straw Hat Pirates.

It marks the debate about whether the Sun God Nika was actually a warrior of liberation or a god of destruction who caused a lot of disruption in the past.

‘It would be such a gut punch’: Shamrock May Have Hinted Gunko’s Real Heritage in One Piece That Explains Why She Fears Sun God Nika

The Elbaph arc introduced us to a lot of different hidden mysteries of One Piece and one of them included the members of the God’s Knight who are trying to kidnap the giant children. However, out of the four newly introduced God’s Knights the one who is most peculiar is definitely Gunko, who arrived first with Shamrock and gave Loki a run for his money.

She is quite mysterious and her lineage or heritage is unknown to One Piece fans. Thus, it is a point of intrigue about her character and while Eiichiro Oda will eventually reveal everything about her, he might have already dropped some major hints. One such hint was indirectly explained by Shamrock’s individual development in the One Piece story.

This has led to fans speculate that Gunko might be the first daughter of Ginny,...

Gear 6 Luffy: This is How Eiichiro Oda Will Give Luffy His Next Big Power Up (One Piece Theory)
Image
The lore of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is currently at its most intriguing point with the Elbaph storyline, which is opening the mysteries of the One Piece world. From the introduction of Scopper Gaban to Sun God Nika’s battle mural, every other aspect of the arc is part of a greater plot that sooner or later will bring a major twist in One Piece.

One such plot that might unravel soon is the connection between Sun God Nika and Luffy. As fans already know, the Gear 5 transformation, also known as the Nika transformation, has established a connection between the future Pirate King and the mythical deity. However, despite this connection, Luffy does not know anything about it.

While the story has hinted at it multiple times, the goofy personality of the One Piece protagonist has kept him unaware. But considering its significance in Elbaph,...

“He is as anti-freedom as a character as it can get”: Eiichiro Oda Will Betray the Core Message of One Piece if Luffy Becomes the Next Reincarnation of Nika
Image
From the beginning of One Piece, the one thing that the series protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, has been adamant about is the freedom that a pirate experiences while sailing through the seas. In fact, the reason he wants to become the King of the Pirates in One Piece is so that he feels that freedom and enjoys his journey with his crewmates till the end.

However, while Luffy’s feelings toward freedom are understandable, his role as the main character of One Piece makes it quite difficult for him to attain his goal. From dealing with incredibly dangerous enemies to getting his fate entangled with the history and liberation of the entire world, Luffy has to take on many difficult challenges.

These duties essentially come from him being the reincarnation of Sun God Nika, who is always at the center of...

“He doesn’t try to take a moral high ground”: One Piece Still Has ‘The Chosen One’ Trope but Oda Does It Way Better than Naruto and Dragon Ball
Image
Ever since Luffy has been revealed to have the power of Sun God Nika, One Piece has been going through a contentious phase. Fans believe that being the reincarnation of the liberator of the One Piece world has put an obligation on him and has introduced the Chosen One trope in the series, which has disrupted the uniqueness and creativity that made Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus one of the greatest narratives in history.

Since the beginning, Luffy has been different from the other Shonen protagonists because he never followed the stereotypes. He never wanted to display himself as the hero or the protector of the world and was only focused on having fun on his journey as a pirate. But with him becoming the next Joy Boy or Nika, things have turned majorly, making Luffy look similar to other shonen main characters like Naruto and Goku.

Who is the Sun God Nika in One Piece?
Image
One Piece's world-building is one of its highlights, as creator Eiichiro Oda takes great care in making sure that the various races and lands of the world each have a distinct aesthetic, culture, and religious practice. While One Piece hasn't had a major focus on religion or godhood, there is one figure that is far different from the others: the mythical sun god Nika.

In Episode 1040 of One Piece, during the Raid on Onigashima Arc, Who's-Who revealed the god to Jinbe. Who' s-Who tells of a warrior who fought for the freedom of slaves and sought the liberation of all oppressed peoples, notably the Fish-Men. Since then, this figure, named Nika, has continuously grown in terms of legend, especially when the connection is made to Luffy being Nika himself.

“He’s a Threat in the Same Way Kidd Is a Threat”: Shanks Imprisoning Loki Is Still Not Solid Proof That We Have Our Next One Piece Villain in Elbaph
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for Chapter 1136 of One Piece!

The leaks for chapter 1136 of One Piece confirmed an important theory regarding Red-Haired Shanks. No, he isn’t secretly a traitor yet. The latest chapter affirms that he was the man who stopped Loki 6 years ago and subsequently became an Emperor.

Many fans have taken Shanks’ involvement with Loki’s imprisonment as a hint towards his morality. They believe the Emperor wouldn’t fight anyone that doesn’t pose a serious threat. However, the events of One Piece suggest otherwise.

Shanks fought Eustass Kidd and destroyed his ship when we know the younger pirate was trying to prove his strength. Later, he doesn’t spare Bartolomeo and his crew after finding out their allegiance to Luffy. Both crews were harmless in the long run of One Piece.

Image
The second phase of the final saga in One Piece, the Elbaph arc, has made the revelation about Luffy making a deal with the devil (Loki), who, according to the residents of Elbaph, is the most devastating character in the entire series. His malicious crimes as the accursed prince of Elbaph and as the strongest giant in the entire country.

According to speculations, the promise that Luffy has made to Loki is linked to him freeing the alleged One Piece villain in exchange for some kind of information on Luffy’s idol, Shanks. However, the concerning aspect of the promise is that Luffy has not talked about it with any of the members of the crew and is trying to hide it, which is uncanny for the Straw Hat captain.

Thus, it is safe to say that Luffy’s actions can have major...

There’s not much known about the Sun God Nika in One Piece. The legendary warrior’s actions are shrouded in mystery with his true origins yet to be revealed to the readers, thanks to the World Government hiding the Void Century’s history.

All we know is the slaves gave him the title of Sun God, he’s heavily tied to Elbaph’s folklore, and the Buccaneer race passed down his legend from father to son. One chapter cover of One Piece, however, might have subtly explained how Nika really earned his title.

One Piece: Eiichiro Oda Has Set Up the Next Growth for Luffy in Elbaph That Still Hasn’t Happened in 25 Years
Image
Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, has seen tremendous growth ever since the series started. From unlocking the strongest Haki abilities to awakening his Devil Fruit, Luffy has probably had the most growth in One Piece. He has reached the top of his strength in just two years since his journey started.

However, even after increasing his power level, Luffy’s strength is not nearly enough to take down the World Government and liberate the One Piece world. This is a responsibility that lies on his shoulders as he is the reincarnation of Sun God Nika and Joy Boy. But it looks like this time Luffy won’t experience any physical growth.

He has most probably reached his prime in terms of Haki and Devil Fruit, but he still needs to see character development to move forward in One Piece. And...

One Piece fans have theorized about Joy Boy and his connection to Luffy for years. Arguably, the most popular theory was that Luffy is Joy Boy reincarnated.
