Nothing is what it seems in the new teaser for “Wayward“, an upcoming limited Netflix series starring Toni Collette.

The eight-episode limited series releases September 25, only on Netflix.

In the picture-perfect town of Tall Pines, sinister secrets lurk behind every closed door. Not long after police officer Alex Dempsey (Mae Martin) and his pregnant wife Laura (Sarah Gadon) move into their new home, he connects with two students Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind) from the local school for “troubled teens” who are desperate to escape and could be the key to unearthing everything rotten in the town.

When Paramount+ launched in the U.S. and territories around the globe, it seemed the Star Trek franchise would thrive for the years to come.

But after the end of Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, the more likely scenario is that these shows are too expensive in the current TV climate.

The streaming platform made the controversial announcement Thursday that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will also be decommissioned.

Fortunately, there’s some good news for fans.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 is set to premiere on Thursday, July 17, meaning fans still have three seasons of the series to go.

Three seasons’ notice is pretty neat for an end date announcement, and it sounds like there will be time to craft a conclusion.

Star Trek Discovery was a wild addition to the Star Trek universe, but how do the seasons of the series rank?

When it premiered in 2017 for what was then CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery was a huge deal. A prequel set before The Original Series with new characters, it had some bold ideas, yet some complained about its tone and that it was trying to be too cutting edge. This adaptation of the Anne Rice novels returns for a bigger season 2. Having given birth to the evil Lasher, Rowan (Alexandra Daddario) is out to claim her true power to fight him off. Expect a darker tone for the show with the addition of Ben Feldman as Rowan's ex-boyfriend, a scientist pulled into the conflict.

Disney+ had a lot to offer in 2024 but how do their original projects rank?

Disney+ has been in a tricky situation when it comes to original shows and films. In 2023, they made the controversial decision to purge numerous original TV series and movies for budget reasons, which means a lot less to watch. They also had a merger with Hulu and a new partnership with HBO Max.

2024 had a lot of new projects by Disney+, with some being better received than others. Echo was a bit so-so for some fans and the assortment of kids fare. Yet some original projects were great, not just shows but some movies and documentaries as well.

Hedge funder Jacob Walthour of Blueprint Capital Advisors has allegedly been removed as chairman of Ebony Capital Partners, a counter-move to the prior dismissal of Ebony CEO Willard Jackson Jr.

Ebony cited what it claimed was an illegal board meeting, removal of a director, a notice of lender liability, and defamation in its action.

The Ebony ownership said in a statement that it “grew concerned when Walthour began to book media appearances and shared confidential information with outlets, including The Wall Street Journal. Walthour’s actions are in direct violation of Ebony’s governing documents that require the lender’s relationship to be kept at arm’s length.”
