“Harry Potter” Stars Competing for Emmy Awards Tonight
HollywoodNews.com: The 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards will air toinght, and two stars from the “Harry Potter” films have been nominated for awards in non-Potter projects.

Michael Gambon and Maggie Smith have both been nominated in the “Miniseries or TV Movie” categories, with Gambon receiving an Outstanding Supporting Actor nod for his portrayal of Mr. Woodhouse in the PBS/BBC remake of Jane Austen’s Emma, and Smith’s nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress for her portrayal of Mary Gilbert in HBO’s Capturing Mary.

Gambon was previously nominated for an Emmy in 2002, for his role as President Lyndon Johnson in the drama “Path to War”. As we all know by now, this Sundayis the Primetime Emmy Awards. And, as all the pop culture gurus of the worldponder the odds of what will win, we prefer to just lay it on the table andgive a shout out to the people and shows we want to see win. We’re notjournalists, we’re bloggers. We don’t have to be objective. We can say it likewe see it.

So with no further ado, here are some of our picks (and the fellow nominees)for the 62nd Annual Primetime EmmyAwards. Outstanding Comedy SeriesPASSIONISTAS Pick: Modern FamilyWHY: We’re big fans of Glee, Curb,and 30 Rock. But when all is said and done, we believe that Modern Family willlive in the top 10 list of best sitcoms of all time alongside The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Bob Newhart Show.

Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith Nominated for Primetime Emmys

HollywoodNews.com: Nominations were announced this morning for the 2010 PrimeTime Emmy Awards, and two of Hogwarts finest are up for awards for projects they filmed outside of the Harry Potter series.

Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore) received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie. The nod comes from his portrayal of Mr. Woodhouse in the PBS/BBC remake of Jane Austen’s Emma.

Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall) received her nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or TV movie category for her portrayal of Mary Gilbert in HBO’s Capturing Mary.

The Primetime Emmy will be awarded on Sunday, August 29, 2010 and will air on NBC.

Congrats to both actors on their nominations and good luck!!
