Bbl side Sydney Thunder rope in Usman Qadir
Image
Sydney, Nov 29 (Ians) Big Bash League (Bbl) side Sydney Thunder have included Pakistan’s T20I leg-spinner Usman Qadir in their bowling arsenal for the upcoming season. The 29-year-old will provide the Trevor Bayliss-coached Thunder with cover while rising star Tanveer Sangha recovers from the back stress injury that’s frustrated the start to his season.

Qadir, son of the late Abdul Qadir — one of world cricket’s greatest-ever exponents of leg-spin bowling –, will arrive to the Sydney Showground Stadium boasting an intimate knowledge of Australian playing conditions, said a Thunder statement on Tuesday.

Besides playing Premier cricket in Sydney and Adelaide, Qadir also represented Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers during the 2018/19 season.

2013 Coney Island Film Festival: Official Lineup
It’s lucky 13 for the fun and fabulous Coney Island Film Festival! That’s right, 2013 will see the 13th annual edition of this New York City staple that combines the fine art of filmmaking with the rambunctious art of sideshow performing on Sept. 20-22.

Other docs screening at the fest include the uplifting tale of A Clown’s Recovery, directed by Matthew Broomfield; the sports drama of One Wall: Kings of Coney Island, directed by Joe Glickman; the profile of a Coney Island legend in The Commander in Chief, directed by Jim McDonnell; the struggle of Bending Steel, directed by Dave Carroll; and World Circus, directed by Angela Snow.

But, there are also fiction films in the mix,...

Andrew Gilchrist continues our writers' favourite films series with an elegant Scorsese adaptation of an Edith Wharton classic

Does this review need refining? Peel off those silk gloves and get your hands dirty, or waltz on down to the comments thread

One rainy Sunday way back in the 1990s, a bunch of hungover blokes decided to stop lazing around on sofas and get a video out. Something by Martin Scorsese maybe; that was the only advice given to the person who went to the shop. We wanted macho men shooting each other in the face. It's just that they're all wearing top hats.

They may be, at heart, as cold-hearted and full of malice as any sidewalk hustler, but the upper-class New Yorkers...
