Dana Ashbrook joins Twin Peaks cast members for Conversation with the Stars tour
Image
Twin Peaks was definitely an iconic horror-related television series, and its legacy lives on 35 years after it made its debut on ABC. It had a unique blend of horror, comedy, mystery, drama and surrealism that captivated audiences, and the two-hour pilot episode became the highest-rated movie for televisions 1989-1990 season, but was sadly cancelled after its second season.

The series began with the discovery of a young woman’s body washed up on the bank of a river in the small town of Twin Peaks, Washington. When the body turns out to be that of prom queen Laura Palmer, everyone is shocked and saddened, because she was known to be kind, even delivering meals to the homebound.

Special FBI Agent Dale Cooper comes to town to investigate, suspecting that Laura’s killer may have also been responsible for murdering another young woman a year earlier. As Coop gets to know...

Michael Cera's Phoenician Scheme Role Echoes His Most Underrated Character
Image
Ever since actor Michael Cera broke out in 2007's "Superbad," there's been a delightful tension surrounding his screen persona: Is this guy a huge dork, a super chill cool dude, or somehow both? Of course, the latter choice is the answer, but that hasn't stopped Cera from leaning into his more mercurial, enigmatic qualities as a performer. From the bumbling awkwardness of George Michael Bluth in "Arrested Development" to the titular kung-fu fighting hipster hero of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" to perfectly encapsulating the offbeat qualities of Allan in "Barbie," Cera has demonstrated many times over that he understands the irony inherent in his persona. This has led to more deliberate and pointed depictions of that irony, such as playing an unhinged version of himself in "This Is the End," and a dual role in "Youth in Revolt," where Cera's shy character creates an outgoing, "cool" alter ego.

Image
“Twin Peaks” actors Ray Wise (Leland Palmer), Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan), and Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) along with “Twin Peaks: The Return” executive producer Sabrina S. Sutherland will embark on a US tour for a “Conversation with the Stars.”

They’ll share first-hand recollections and behind-the-scenes stories on the East Coast in August before heading to the West Coast in October. Lee will only be in attendance for the October dates.

The events include a special video tribute to co-creator David Lynch. Photos and autographs are also available for an additional fee.

“David was very happy that we were going to have this cast tour to celebrate Twin Peaks with the fans all around the U.S.,” Sutherland told THR. “It’s sad that I won’t be able to call him each night to let him know how the show went as I had promised.

Twin Peaks cast members are going on a national tour
Image
The David Lynch and Mark Frost series Twin Peaks made its premiere on ABC in 1990 and ran for two seasons before being cancelled. It was followed by the feature film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, and a couple decades later the series was revived for a third season on Showtime, called Twin Peaks: The Return. Now, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the show’s premiere, some Twin Peaks cast members will be going on a national tour to meet with fans and discuss the series with them!

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Ray Wise (who played Leland Palmer), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan), and Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Moran) are joining Twin Peaks: The Return executive producer Sabrina S. Sutherland for the tour, which is called Twin Peaks: Conversation with the Stars and will see them “share their experiences on the series and swap behind-the-scenes stories at the ticketed events.

‘Twin Peaks’ Was the Most Bizarre Show on TV — and David Lynch’s Biggest Success
Image
When it debuted in the spring of 1990, David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks was inarguably the strangest show to have ever been made for American television. It was, simultaneously, a gothic horror story, a murder mystery, a supernatural thriller, a throwback to 1950s soap operas and movie melodramas, and a goofy comedy. Its stories intermingled human-scale nightmares like sex trafficking, drug addiction, domestic abuse, and incestuous rape with demonic possession, psychic visions, and periodic trips to another dimension where a dwarf hung out in a very red room.

Twin Peaks’ Worst Love Triangle Was More Important Than You Think
Image
This article contains Twin Peaks spoilers

If you’re like me and caught up with Twin Peaks well after its original run on ABC in 1990-1991, you probably got the same advice I heard. “Season one is great and season two sucks. But you need to stick through the second season to get to the finale which is the best episode of the entire show.” Leaving aside the fact that they probably mean “everything after the Laura Palmer murder is solved” sucks, since we got some great episodes in the second season, that advice offers a pretty limited understanding of what the original series had to offer.

Yes, Twin Peaks is most famous for its surreal imagery. Agent Cooper’s visit to the Red Room, Bob crawling over the sofa toward the camera, the Giant’s despairing observation that “It is happening again.” All of these are indelible parts of the series.

Twin Peaks: The Return Is More Relevant Than Ever
Twin Peaks (2017)
This article contains Twin Peaks: The Return spoilers

“Is It future? Or is it past?”

When the One-Armed Man Mike (Al Strobel) posed that question to Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) in the second part of Twin Peaks: The Return, he may very well have been echoing the thoughts of the viewers. After all, Mike asked that question while sitting in the Red Room, the interdimensional waiting room that became the signature location during the original two-season run of Twin Peaks, and the 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. In fact, Cooper wore the exact same suit and tie combo, and sat in the same chair from the original series.

Before Cooper could answer, Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) entered the room, decked in the same black dress that she wore in the season two finale. Although MacLachlan and Lee had both clearly aged in the two and...

‘Twin Peaks’: David Lynch Sends a Bizarre Message to Comic-Con Fans and Rejects Kyle MacLachlan’s Emmy Snub
David Lynch
“Twin Peaks” may have ended its revival last year, but the world that David Lynch and Mark Frost created continues to live on. Such is the case with all properties with cult followings, and it may have been what inspired the Comic-Con panel Saturday night titled “Twin Peaks and the Revival of a Cult Classic.”

Taking place at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel’s Indigo Ballroom, the panel featured a fan-favorite lineup including executive producer Sabrina Sutherland, stars Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Brennan), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan), Chrysta Bell (FBI Agent Tammy Preston), Robert Broski (Woodsman), John Pirruccello (Deputy Chad Broxford), Eric Edelstein (Det. “Smiley” Fusco), Nicole Laliberte (Darya), George Griffith (Ray Monroe), Amy Shiels (Candie), and Adele Rene (Lieutenant Cynthia Knox).

Sutherland revealed that Lynch had texted her, “I got my days mixed up and I’m going to be there yesterday if not sooner. It’s slippery in here.

‘Twin Peaks 3×14′ Review
If there is one thing we’ve needed from Twin Peaks, it has been answers. This week it seems it is time to get down to business and get things moving. Which is a good thing as this is episode 14 out of 18!

In this week’s Twin Peaks, the focus appears to be on dreams. Gordon Cole (David Lynch) has a Monica Bellucci dream which may provide him some answers. Meanwhile in Twin Peaks Sheriff Truman (Robert Forester), Bobby (Dana Ashbrook), Hawk (Michael Horse), and Andy (Harry Goaz) make their way into the forest.

Twin Peaks in many ways is a world full of dreams, but mostly nightmares. This week instead of taking its time, episode 14 decides to provide some answers. With Cole having his dream, and Andy visiting the Fireman they are being pushed on a path to the truth (hopefully).

What is important though is to listen to...

"Twin Peaks," Episode 14 Recap: Tell Me The Story
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. It's James Hurley's (James Marshall) birthday and he wants a present. Not that he's demanding it—no, no. James is cool. He's always been cool. So in that affable way of his that can be equal parts endearing and insufferable, he asks his going-on-23-year-old coworker, Freddie Sykes (Jake Wardle)—a U.K. to U.S. transplant who, like James, is a security guard at the Great Northern Hotel—to explain why he's always wearing a green gardener's glove on his right hand. "Tell me the story," he says to Freddie. The young man obliges the birthday boy with a captivating tale ("you ain't gonna believe me anyway," he prefaces) of a man in the sky called The Fireman, who told him to buy the glove,...

"Twin Peaks," Episode 9 Recap: Whatever This Is
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. There's a brief, very beautiful moment in Part 7 of the new Twin Peaks, during the scene in which hotelier Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer) and his secretary Beverly Paige (Ashley Judd) are investigating a strange sound emanating from the walls of the Great Northern. Ben points in the direction that he thinks the soft, soothing tone is coming from, and for a second he seems to be pointing right at the camera—past it, really…toward our world, at those of us on the other side of the fiction/fact divide. A blink-and-you'll-miss-it breach, but it lays some subtle groundwork for what follows: The aesthetically and thematically provocative Part 8 fitted the Twin Peaks mythos into our very real history of atomic destruction. And this week's...

‘Twin Peaks’ Part 9 Theories: A Telling Time, Secret Texts, and When Audrey Horne Will Finally Return
Twin Peaks (1990)
[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “Twin Peaks” Episode 9, “Part 9.”]

As “Twin Peaks” reached its halfway mark, David Lynch dumped a lot of information in Sunday’s episode that connected the dots but didn’t give everything away. But it does look like everyone is going to journey to the Black Lodge, which means another batshit crazy episode could be in the offing.

Read More‘Twin Peaks’ Review: Part 9 Takes Us on a Dark Highway to the Danger Zone

Without further ado, let’s dive into the episode:

The Time 2:53

We first heard about “253” when Special Agent Cooper met the Evolution of the Arm, who told him, “253. Time and time again.” Later, that number comes up as a time, when Cooper gets sucked from the Purple Room to the electrical socket and into Dougie’s life. Simultaneously, Dougie gets whisked to the Black Lodge, and Evil Cooper wrecks his car and starts puking bloody garmonbozia.

In Part 9, Sheriff Truman,...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Twin Peaks: The Return” (Season 3), Episode 9, “Part 9.”]

After a week away from Twin Peaks, the present day, and the time-space continuum as we know it, “Twin Peaks” got back to normal in Part 9 — well, normal for “Twin Peaks.” There was talk of traveling to other dimensions, inexplicable tones (one of which sounds like “a monastery bell”), a man terrified of his own foot, and one nasty armpit rash, but there weren’t any flashbacks to nuclear tests in New Mexico or freshly hatched giant bugs crawling inside a young lady’s mouth.

And that’s kind of a bummer.

Literally, the episode — though filled with information and superficially funny scenes — was as sneakily ominous as it was a bit basic (again, by “Twin Peaks” standards). As fun as it is to watch the complex central mystery unfold, there’s nothing quite like seeing David Lynch unleashed.

"Twin Peaks," Episode 7 Recap: …And That's Enough Said About That
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. So that's how David Lynch does an info dump. First, with a cheeky, knowing scene featuring the brothers Horne: "Jerry, what's going on?" asks Ben (Richard Beymer) after his cannabis-infused sibling (David Patrick Kelly) phones him from the woods. "I think I'm high!…I don't know where I am!" Jerry screams, perhaps speaking for a good subsection of the Twin Peaks revival audience, who have, over the six prior installments, been given only glimpses of a larger picture. Narrative momentum comes in asides; the more prevalent longueurs are reserved for atmosphere and mood, for full immersion in apparent stasis.Part 7 shakes things up, following the brotherly freak-out with several story reveals that come in quick succession. But there's a niggling sense throughout all the...

"Twin Peaks," Episode 6 Recap: Make Sense of It
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series.A man walks into a bar—after cursing out Gene Kelly (because most of the time we don't feel like singin' in the rain). The bar, by the way, is named "Max Von's," surely after Erich von Stroheim's rabidly devoted butler Max von Mayerling from Sunset Blvd (1950). Of his employer, silent-film diva Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson), Max once said, "Madame is the greatest star of them all." No more proper locale, then, for a star entrance: "Diane," says FBI forensics specialist Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer) to a platinum blond beauty nursing martini and cigarette. Around turns Diane Evans, the heretofore unseen confidante of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), and played (of course, how could there be any doubt?) by Laura Dern.

"Twin Peaks," Episode 5 Recap: I Love How You Love Me
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. The key image in Part 5 of the revived Twin Peaks is of a woman in ecstasy. Recall, however, the subtitle that series co-creator/director David Lynch appended to his thorny 2006 masterpiece Inland Empire: "A Woman in Trouble." The line separating rapture and anguish is a blurry one, especially for Lynch's ladies, who are as likely to end up exquisitely chiseled corpses (the ubiquitous Laura Palmer; Part 2's doomed henchwoman Darya) as they are world-weary survivors. For the moment, let's focus on Rebecca "Becky" Burnett (Amanda Seyfried), daughter of Rr Diner waitress Shelly Johnson (Mädchen Amick), though Becky's last name—taken from ne'er-do-well husband Steven Burnett (Caleb Landry Jones)—obscures the identity of her father. (Dana Ashbrook's now-law-abiding Bobby Briggs is the most likely candidate,...

‘Twin Peaks’ Episode 5 Guide to Returning Characters and Their Wacky Pasts
Twin Peaks (1990)
[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “Twin Peaks: The Return” episodes as they’re released weekly.]

In the Episode 5 of “Twin Peaks,” we saw more of the town and that included some characters we’ve already reunited with in earlier episodes. Dr. Jacoby (Russ Tamblyn) has a conspiracy theory webcast in which he’s selling his golden shovels guaranteed to “shovel your way out of the shit,” Shelly (Madchen Amick) has to help out her daughter financially again because that no-good husband of hers can’t keep a job, and Hawk and Andy (Michael Horse, Harry Goaz) are still sifting through the old Laura Palmer case files. Speaking of, Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) is still living that Dougie life as an insurance agent and has his own stack of case files to sift through.

We also see a few more familiar faces for the first time this season. Here’s a breakdown of who’s who from the original series that showed up in Episode 5:

‘Twin Peaks’ Mvp Wally Brando: 5 Reasons Michael Cera’s Brilliant Cameo Is Just What the Show Needed
Twin Peaks (1990)
[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from the first four episodes of “Twin Peaks.]

Of all the confusing, confounding things on the return of “Twin Peaks,” we have no mixed feelings about one thing: Wally Brando.

The ingeniously named character shows up in the fourth episode of the season as a cameo by Michael Cera. Wally Brando (Brennan?) is the adult son of Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Department receptionist Lucy (Kimmy Robertson) and deputy Andy (Harry Goaz), and was born on Marlon Brando’s birthday, April 3. While we had known Lucy was pregnant in the original series, Wally wasn’t born until after Agent Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) went missing.

"Twin Peaks," Episodes 3 & 4 Recap: Hell-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. What's an FBI Special Agent to do after being locked away for 25 years in unearthly purgatory? Episodes three and four of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks, which aired on Showtime this past Sunday in a two-hour block (aside from September's two-part finale, it's all single, hour-long episodes from hereon out), follow our besuited, Black Lodge-incarcerated hero Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) as he reintegrates into modern terrestrial society. So this is basically Peaks doing Rectify, just with a sterile death row replaced by an infernal hellscape out of Clive Barker. Or David Lynch, really. What's becoming more and more evident as the new Peaks progresses is that the series is, in large part, a repository for Lynch's subconscious, past and present.

‘Twin Peaks 3×04′ Review
This episode is the one we’ve been waiting for, with Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) coming face to face with Gordon Cole (David Lynch) and Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer). Typically for Twin Peaks though, nothing is as it seems.

With Agent Cooper playing happy families as Dougie Jones, the other “Coop” faces his old boss and Albert. It isn’t long before they see through his act though. With mention of Philip Jeffries, will more be revealed from the Black Lodge?

In this fourth episode, we are getting more into what would be normal Twin Peaks territory, but with more of a hint of Fire Walk with Me. The movie, which works as a prequel to the series, introduced the idea of the Blue Rose investigation, and more importantly David Bowie’s character Philip Jeffries. The mention of this character has hinted at the potential of a cameo from Bowie, and this could be possible.

'Twin Peaks' Revival Delves Deeper Into 'Fire Walk With Me' -- and It's Absolutely Insane (Hi Naomi Watts!)
Twin Peaks (1990)
Woo boy, Twin Peaks fans.

If you thought the first two hours of the Twin Peaks revival were weird, you haven't really seen anything yet.

Let's start with what is easily the David Lynch-iest sequence of the show so far.

The Purple Spaceship

After being expelled from the Black Lodge and taking a quick pit stop in the glass box in New York City, real Agent Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) finds himself in a weird purple spaceship thing with a woman who is listed in the credits as Naido (Nae Yuuki). Her eyes are melted shut, which lends some weight to the idea that eyes are important in Twin Peaks -- Ruth Davenport (Mary Stofle) was missing an eye and it also appeared that Evil Cooper (MacLachlan) shot Phyllis Hastings (Cornelia Guest) through the eye.

"Twin Peaks," Episodes 1 & 2 Recap: Do Not Drop Up
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. The world's gone mad. Fortunately for FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), he's been able to sit out most of the real-life insanity of the last 25 years. Unfortunately—as surely known by those viewers familiar with Mark Frost and David Lynch's singular television series Twin Peaks, which returned Sunday, May 21st for a limited, 18-episode run on Showtime—that's because he's been trapped in the unearthly purgatory known as the Black Lodge, all while his devilish doppelgänger, a mortal manifestation of the murderous spirit known as Killer Bob, runs amok among mankind.Already it feels like I'm speaking in tongues. But if Twin Peaks and Lynch (who directed, co-wrote, co-edited, and designed the sound for all of these new episodes) have taught us anything,...

Twin Peaks (1990)
'Twin Peaks' Returns as Confusing and Terrifying as Ever -- Here's What Happened in the Premiere!
Twin Peaks (1990)
Warning: Spoilers ahead if you haven't seen Sunday's two-hour Twin Peaks premiere.

Twin Peaks returned to TV on Sunday after 27 years and it was every bit as scary, twisted and confusing as the original -- though we expected nothing less from David Lynch.

In the two-hour premiere, there were two distinct threads happening: one with the show's original characters and one featuring new faces and new mysteries. They eventually intersected, but for much of the first hour it was a lot of introducing seemingly unrelated things, most of which were happening outside the titular small Washington town.

Twin Peaks (1990)
Twin Peaks Premiere: What the Heck Just Happened?
Twin Peaks (1990)
Twin Peaks has finally returned after 25ish years, and it's kinda like it never left.  Tonight's two-hour premiere felt pretty much exactly like two hours of Twin Peaks should: like a dream mixed with a nightmare where nothing makes sense, all in its own absurd little world.  This time, however, the world's been expanded a little bit. But we'll get to that in a second. First, let's talk about all the old characters we caught up with tonight.  Lucy (Kimmy Robertson) and Andy (Harry Goaz) are married, and their jobs haven't changed. Lucy's still the police station secretary, confusing men who come in asking for Sheriff Truman by asking them which Sheriff Truman...

New Trailer For Twin Peaks Gives Us Our Best, Yet Still Confusing, Look at the Revival Yet
A new promo spot has been released for David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival, and it actually features a good amount of footage from the upcoming series. Regardless, it's still wonderfully confusing and it gives us absolutely no information on the story. It's just a collection of brief clips with bits of dialogue scattered throughout. I definitely dig the eerie and mysterious vibe of the promo, and I'm intrigued. I can't wait to see more! The video came with the following info.

It is happening again with Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz), Lucy Moran (Kimmy Robertson), Shelly Johnson (Mädchen Amick), FBI Special Agent Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer), FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole (David Lynch), FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), and more.

The 18-hour limited event series will debut with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, May 21st at 9pm on Showtime.

Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking...

It Is Happening Again In New Twin Peaks Season 3 Promo
We’re now just 10 days away from the highly anticipated third season of David Lynch’s bizarrely brilliant Twin Peaks, which last graced our TV screens over 20 years ago. So far, most of the teasers have been very vague, focusing on the atmospheric score and glimpses of of the titular town, but Showtime recently debuted some actual footage from the show, and now they’ve given us even more with this latest trailer.

Just like with the last promo, here we’re reintroduced to a handful of returning characters. There’s lovable dimwit Deputy Andy (Harry Goaz), chatterbox secretary Lucy Moran (Kimmy Robertson), and waitress Shelly Johnson (Mädchen Amick) surrounded by some new friends. Towards the end we also see David Lynch as Gordon Cole, and the late Miguel Ferrer, who will reprise the role of insufferable smart-ass Agent Rosenfield.

Finally, there’s a haunting shot of Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle Maclachlan) behind the wheel.

Yet Another Promo For Twin Peaks Recalls A Simpler Time
You’ve heard of it, haven’t you? The Golden Age of Television? While the original era can be traced back to the 1950s, many believe that such high-ranking, lucrative series in the vein of Mad Men, Breaking Bad and HBO’s fantasy flagship Game of Thrones have helped define a new generation of top-tier television where the amount of original scripted drama is so rich and diverse that, at times, it’s almost difficult to keep up.

But before men were mad – before thrones played games; before bad was broken; before the dead walked – there was another cult TV series that went on to amass a huge following, and its name is Twin Peaks.

For two seasons, Mark Frost and David Lynch’s eerie procedural captured the imagination of sci-fi fans, but dwindling ratings meant the show was abruptly pulled off the airwaves in 1991. In those intervening years, both...

New Twin Peaks Promo Spot Features Some Familiar Faces 25 Years Later
Showtime has released a new promo spot for David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival and it actually features our first real footage of the cast reprising their roles. I've been rewatching the original series again recently and I knew it was insane, but I forgot how awesomely insane it actually was! I'm excited to see where Lynch is going to take things with this revival.

Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, Twin Peaks followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were...

It is happening again, and ahead of the show’s long-anticipated return on May 21st, Showtime has rolled out yet another Twin Peaks teaser to whet your appetite.
