Apple TV+’s “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” has released its first teaser trailer.

Apple has also set the premiere date, with the series now set to debut on Nov. 17. The first two episodes will premiere Nov. 17 followed by a new episode every Friday through Jan. 12, 2024.

Based on Legendary’s Monsterverse, the 10-episode series follows two siblings find themselves revisiting the past — from present day to 1950s San Francisco in the wake of Godzilla and the Titans’ destructive battle — to uncover the truth behind a secret organization and a world of monsters.

Starring in the show is Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski.

Per the official synopsis, “’Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch.

Last month, Apple TV+ unveiled several images from their upcoming Godzilla series, while revealing that the show is going to be called Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Now a teaser trailer has arrived online (you can watch it in the embed above), and along with that comes a premiere date announcement – and I’m glad to see that the premiere date is closer than I expected it to be! The first two episodes of the ten episode run will be available to watch as of Friday, November 17th. The remaining eight episodes will be released on a weekly basis, one every Friday, through January 12th.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is the latest chapter in Legendary Entertainment’s Monsterverse series, which currently consists of Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the Netflix animated series Skull Island.

On Friday, the streamer announced the release date for the upcoming sci-fi show starring Kurt Russell. The first two episodes will premiere Friday, Nov. 17, with a new episode dropping weekly until the finale on Jan. 12.

Godzilla in ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ premiering soon on Apple TV+

With the release of the first four photos, we’ve learned a lot more about Apple TV+’s first series based on Legendary’s Monsterverse. The series now has an official title: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Apple TV+ also revealed father and son Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will play the same character in different eras in the 10-episode series.

And the photos also confirm that Godzilla will be part of the series.

In addition to the Russells, Monarch stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. The sci-fi drama was developed by Chris Black and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye). The first two episodes were directed by Matt Shakman (Wandavision).

Apple TV+ announced today the title of its highly anticipated sci-fi drama based on Legendary's Monsterverse as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

It's an excellent title, and we're sure it will be one of the biggest action series in Apple TV+ history.

“Monarch” is set in the same universe as the films “Godzilla” (2014), “Kong: Skull Island” (2017), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “Godzilla vs. Kong” (2021) and the upcoming sequel “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” Spanning three generations, the series following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Warner Bros.’ Mortal Kombat proved the main attraction at the box office last weekend, driving almost half of all trade, and ranking as one of the highest R-rated openers of all time.

Shot in South Australia, directed by Australian director Simon McQuoid and produced by fellow Aussie James Wan, Mortal Kombat opened on $3.6 million from 406 screens – a whopping average of $8,922.

With previews, the New Line Cinema actioner, inspired by the video game franchise of the same name, is on $4.09 million.

That’s behind the opening of other R-rated titles The Wolf of Wall Street ($5.13 million) and Hannibal ($4.25 million), but ahead of Eyes Wide Shut (opened on $2.55 million), The Hateful Eight ($2.42m) and Kill Bill Vol.1 ($2.26 million).

17 days before the start of World War 2, English teacher Wheatley (Nigel Lindsay) goes missing from The Augusta-Victoria College for Girls in Bexley-on-Sea, the boarding school famous for housing the daughters and goddaughters of Nazi High Command. 6 days later Thomas Miller (Eddie Izzard) secures a job replacing Wheatley and from then on, tries to secretly find out what exactly happened. Inspired by true events, Six Minutes to Midnight is a period thriller written by Eddie Izzard, director Andy Goddard and co-writer Celyn Jones.

The film starts off strong, with fast-paced, intense scenes from Lindsey and Izzard. It’s accompanied by German composer Marc Streitenfeld’s beautiful score which is a delight to listen to throughout the film. This makes for a great start to the film, with an intriguing mystery to look forward to…or so you would hope.
