François Glorieux(1932-2023)

François Glorieux, born in Kortrijk, Flanders (Belgium) August 27 1932, is a
Belgian pianist, composer, conductor, and teacher. He studied at the
Royal Cons, in Ghent (graduated, 1953), then toured as a pianist. He
taught chamber music at the Royal Cons, in Ghent, and was head of the
summer courses in piano at the Royal Cons, in Antwerp. He became
especially successful in presenting entertaining improvisational
recitals in 5 languages; also conducted his own 25- member orchestra
from 1979. His compositions run the gamut from serious works to popular
scores and arrangements, the last including pieces by Stan Kenton and
Michael Jackson. He also prepared a new version of the Belgian National
Anthem.
