Netflix's long-gestating Assassin's Creedseries has finally been revealed by the streamer. The live-action adaptation of the iconic video game franchise recently got an exciting production update, but Netflix has now officially given the project a series order. Prepare to enter the past and join the Assassin Brotherhood to battle the Templar Order.

Netflix announced that they have greenlit Assassin's Creed, with Roberto Patino (Dmz) and David Wiener (Halo) set as creators, showrunners, and executive producers. The show, which has spent five years in development, comes to fruition with a stacked creative crew bolstered by Patino and Weiner. Netflix is working closely with the Film & Television arm of Ubisoft, the publisher behind the best-selling video games. The upcoming series will be totally disconnected from the critically-panned 2016 film, which starred Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Daniel Goldberg, who produced all three The Hangover films, Space Jam, Old School and many others and co-wrote movies including the Bill Murray comedies Stripes and Meatballs, died today in Los Angeles. He was 74.

Filmmaker Jason Reitman, whose late father Ivan Reitman directed Stripes and Meatballs and had known Goldberg since their college days in the 1960s, confirmed the news to Deadline but did not provide other details.

Screen Australia has released the final guidelines for its new suite of documentary programs, sparking a wave of criticism that little has changed since the draft guidelines were published in September.

Australian Directors Guild executive director Kingston Anderson said, "We are very disapointed. This is a missed opportunity."

Simon Nasht told If, "Documentary has been hit with a totally unjustifed cut of more than $2 million while feature film remains a protected species mired in failure."

Fellow filmmaker Tom Zubrycki said, "Of all the drafts Screen Australia has issued the initial ones issued back in June which recognised the changing nature of documentary production were far preferable to this comprised final version.

Documentaries examining cross-cultural love, the education system, indigenous affairs and a highly reclusive Israeli community in Melbourne are among eight projects funded by Screen Australia.

Last week at Tiff Bell Lightbox, there was a camp reunion of sorts, where cast and crew from the Canadian comedy classic "Meatballs" came to share their memories to a receptive crowd. The charity screening was organized to support Action Against Hunger, a local group that is also celebrating its 35th birthday.

A number of people associated with the film, both behind and in front of the camera, came out to show their support. Dan Goldberg was one of the main writers and producers of the film, and it's clear that the film quite literally changed his life. "For me, no, nothing was the same [after 'Meatballs']," Dan shared. "It's the biggest change in my life, it's the thing I appreciate the most, and the most enjoyable hit I ever had. Going from zero to that was much bigger than going from that to anything else."

If you were a kid in a record store in the early 1980’s, you saw this poster. Our record store was poorly lit with carpet crawling up the walls where you could thumb through albums with provocative covers while your parents ran their errands. Ahh, innocence lost. I couldn’t recall an animated film like this before or since, but the most significant thing that I can remember about “Heavy Metal” is that it taught me that animation can have adult and horrific elements. This movie scared me a little.

I was going to write about the new Paul Feig film The Heat and the unfair weight put on female driven comedies to prove that yes, women are funny. In fact, when I heard of The Heat, the first thing that I thought was “Oh yeah, like Feds.” FEDs (Daniel Goldberg, 1988) is the only other time I can think of that the buddy-cop genre was populated by women. To be honest, I recall FEDs being pretty funny. It features Rebecca De Mornay and SNL alumus Mary Gross as FBI trainees who get dealt a tough case while completing their training and tests. Regardless, it was completely unfair for me to immediately compare it to the only other known female buddy cop movie out there. We’ve seen multiple iterations within the genre including interracial (Lethal Weapon), inter-jurisdictional (Bon Cop Bad Cop), international (Rush Hour), and even interspecies (Turner and Hooch) pairings.

With its release date getting closer, Warner Bros. Pictures dropped a third TV spot for “The Hangover Part III” on Monday (May 13).

The last film in the comedy trilogy about the adventures of The Wolfpack as they hit the road stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis.

While the first two movies revolved around their adventures surrounding a bachelor party and a wedding, this one will be darker, according to director Todd Phillips.

“All my movies, as I get the ability to do it, they tend to go a little darker," Phillips said recently. "Funnily enough, there's a line in this scene that we shot yesterday, which I turned to Dan Goldberg, my producing partner, and I said, 'That's the tagline for the movie'.”

Todd Phillips has discussed The Hangover Part III's "darker" tone.

Phillips, who has directed all three films in the series and co-wrote the second and third, told Collider that he intentionally took the final film in a more serious direction.

"All my movies, as I get the ability to do it, they tend to go a little darker," Phillips mused. "Funnily enough, there's a line in this scene that we shot yesterday, which I turned to Dan Goldberg, my producing partner, and I said, 'That's the tagline for the movie'.

"Which is when Chow turns and he goes [imitating Chow], 'And then, everything went black'. Everything Went Black is also the title of a Black Flag album, but it's also a great tagline for this movie in a weird way. Because 'everything went black' makes you think, 'Oh, is it another blackout?' No, no, no. It just got very dark.

The Hangover Part III is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the biggest films of the year, with the film set to bring a close to the highly-successful franchise.

The last instalment took more than half a billion dollars for Warner Bros., and whilst the studio have been keeping their cards very tight to their chest for this one, we imagine that it’s going to be a brilliant finale.

We’ve recently been treated to an awesome first poster, parodying an epic showdown between Alan and Chow, Harry Potter-style. Todd Phillips’ The Hangover Part III naturally has a lot of anticipation surrounding it. The last instalment took the franchise to new heights, topping box offices around the world, and taking more than half a billion dollars in the process.

The final film to conclude the trilogy is set to break from the formula of the first two films, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how it all ends.

The first teaser trailer is set to debut tomorrow, and ahead of its release, a brilliant first poster has surfaced online, giving us a look at an epic showdown between Alan and Chow.

The official synopsis remains under wraps for now, but we’re expecting there to be no wedding like we had in the first films. All bets are pretty much off as to how awesome this is going to be.

The Hangover Part III is naturally expected to be one of the biggest films of the year. And in all likelihood, it’s set to be the year’s most successful comedy.

We’re expecting the first trailer to land pretty much any day now. After seeing two new images this week, we’ve got another great new image to share. And given the strips of black mattes on either side of the image, smart money says this is lifted directly from the first trailer. And that, in itself, indicates we should be seeing the first The Hangover Part III trailer land soon.

The official plot synopsis remains under wraps, but we do know that the film is going to be breaking from the past formula. So don’t expect there to be a wedding to attend. But, naturally, expect there to be plenty of hungover mayhem to enjoy.

We know that the film won’t be taking the same formula as the original films, and so the fact that things are being kept under wraps suggests that we’ve got a lot of fun in store for us, in my books. The sequel was a huge success back in 2011, taking more than half a billion dollars. The plot is expected to take an entirely new direction, and with a highly prominent release date next May, things are looking good.

We’ve got just over five more months before it hits the big screen, and now EW have debuted the first official images from one of the most anticipated comedies of 2013.

Variety is reporting that John Goodman is in talks to play a small role in Todd Phillips' The Hangover Part III . He would play "a small role as an antagonist in the vein of the character Paul Giamatti played in 'Hangover II,' says the trade. Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms are slated to return to theaters on May 24, 2013, reprising their roles as Phil, Alan and Stu in the third and final adventure of the Wolf Pack. This outting will allegedly bring the gang to Tijuana with an expanded role for Mike Epps' character, Black Doug, and the return Ken Jeong's Leslie Chow. Chicago – Now that Wes Anderson’s marvelous “Moonrise Kingdom” has finally received a much-belated wide release, it’s an ideal time for audiences to revisit Bill Murray’s first cinematic excursion to summer camp. Ivan Reitman’s 1979 hit, “Meatballs,” is famous primary for giving the SNL vet his first starring role, which is appropriate considering Murray is the only reason worth watching it.

As far as “snobs vs. slobs” farces of the ’70s go, “Meatballs” is a passable but wholly unremarkable escapist lark. It assembles a series of misfit stereotypes—the clueless nerd, the fat kid, the guy who can’t help blowing stuff up—and has them go through the motions. There isn’t a single gag involving the hapless counselors-in-training at Camp North Star that is the least bit funny or surprising. Half of the film’s 99-minute running time is so tiresome that it will undoubtedly lead...

I thought it was funnier. Meatballs looms large in the memory as Bill Murray’s first big film and a laugh riot along the lines of Caddyshack. It certainly has the right pedigree as it came from director Ivan Reitman and was co-written by Harold Ramis. The film was a hit when first released in 1979 and spawned several sequels and now it is making its Blu-ray debut on Tuesday from Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

It has not aged well. The humor is mild, even for 1979, when Animal House rewrote the rules a year earlier. This PG-rated comedy features the counselors and kids at Camp North Star, a ramshackle summer camp. Despite a reporter telling us the camp charges $1000 a week, we have no idea where the money goes given the dilapidated bunks, grounds, and facilities. The kids aren’t required to wear camp uniforms and they don’t seem to be following much of a schedule.
