Andy Samberg Fondly Remembers “Deeply Moral And Kind” Andre Braugher & Time On ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’
Image
Andy Samberg fondly remembered his late Brooklyn Nine-Nine costar Andre Braugher, reflecting on their time together on the two-time Emmy-winning sitcom and how the show has endured for audiences since its conclusion in 2021.

During a recent episode of Good Hang with Amy Poehler, the Saturday Night Live alum discussed seeking Poehler’s advice on taking the lead role in the Mike Schur and Dan Goor-created series about a Brooklyn-based precinct, as the writers were also behind her Parks and Recreation. Samberg said he didn’t realize how well-known and beloved the show was until a family trip to Europe a couple years ago resulted in him getting recognized everywhere.

“It’s a gift that keeps giving,” the Palm Springs star said. “Because of the Netflix part of it, everywhere I went, it was like, ‘Jake Peralta!’ I felt like I was on Friends. I was like, ‘Oh my God,...

12 Best TV Shows Like The Office
Image
The sitcom has been around since the earliest days of television, when Lucille Ball, Dick Van Dyke, and Mary Tyler Moore ruled the airwaves. In 2015, there's countless more channels that existed in those days, but even with an endless amount of content to watch at any given moment, many viewers always find themselves drawn back to one particular modern classic: "The Office."

"The Office" originated in the UK, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant and starring the former as the insensitive Gm of a paper company. The mockumentary sitcom was adapted for American audiences on NBC in 2005, swapping out Gervais for Steve Carell, then known for his work on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." The show also boasted a supporting cast including future Hollywood icons like John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, and Mindy Kaling.

Not every season of "The Office" has been its best, but the show's lovable characters...

The original Elle, Reese Witherspoon, who serves as executive producer for the new show, recently shared the first image of the 90s-set outing in a post on Instagram. The new Elle, Lexi Minetree, is seen lying on a pink bedspread - pink being the color most closely associated with the character and her unapologetically girly franchise - and speaking into a retro phone.

Mindy Kaling on Her ‘The Office’ Legacy, the Status of ‘Legally Blonde 3’ and Planning a Return to Acting
Image
Mindy Kaling is ready to step back in front of the camera. After both writing and starring in “The Office” and “The Mindy Project” (which she also created) early in her career, Kaling took a break from acting in recent years to focus on building a string of successful TV series — not to mention raising three young kids. That’s why you haven’t seen her pop into some of her hit comedies like “Never Have I Ever” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”

But that acting itch is making a bit of a return, particularly after she recently watched a few episodes of “Never Have I Ever” with her young cousins. “I was like, ‘As someone who has my own TV show and loves to act, how did I not act in the show about an Indian American family?’” Kaling says. “It was going so good that I...

New York's finest just got a whole lot finer... kind of. Brooklyn Nine-Nine created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, is arguably one of the most beloved modern sitcoms. Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 9 - Will It Ever Happen?
Image
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" first aired on Fox in the fall of 2013, immediately cementing itself as yet another classic from Michael Schur ("Parks & Recreation") and Dan Goor — so why did it end, and will we ever get another season?

The comedy, which was led by "Saturday Night Live" alum Andy Samberg alongside a perfect ensemble cast including Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller, focused on the 99th precinct in Brooklyn and their constant misadventures in policing — and that description alone might give you a clue as to why the series ended if you've, say, watched or read any news since 2020 or so. The show came to a close in the fall of 2021 with its eighth and final season after facing delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but even getting to eight seasons wasn't easy for this little show that could...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Actor Says Series Revival Is Unlikely

Police procedural sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine aired its eighth and final season in 2021. While fans have been clamoring for more comedic shenanigans, a revival is not on the cards.

Melissa Fumero, who played Amy Santiago, recently told ScreenRant that while the concept of a revival is exciting, they would not be able to shoot more episodes without the late Andre Braugher. "We've definitely all played with the idea, and we definitely all miss each other so much, and miss spending our days together," she said. 15 Modern Sitcom Characters Who Have Gotten Better With Age
Image
Sitcoms often have the most interesting characters on television. Due to the nature of the genre, sitcom characters can be quirky, unique and as far or close to reality as they please, which makes them memorable. However, there are too many characters, like Barney Stinson and Ross Geller, who are iconic but have aged poorly due to their regressive thinking or actions in their respective shows.

In the vast landscape of television shows, sitcom characters are rarely ahead of their time. Most characters in an ensemble are a product of the age that the sitcom was created in, but some characters are the exception. Shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl and Derry Girls had carefully crafted sitcom characters who have stayed likable and also aged well in today's day and age.

Updated on October 11, 2024 by Lynette Guzman: Despite many new TV show options, many viewers enjoy revisiting old favorite sitcoms.

A highly-rated new comedy series, Animal Control, may be the perfect replacement for the incredibly popular Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The critically acclaimed and award-winning comedy series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, premiered in 2013 and ran for eight seasons. Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur for Fox, the hit sitcom followed a group of NYPD detectives through complete chaos. It starred Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, the late Andre Braugher, and more.

The series was praised for its effective use of workplace humor and the way it parodied life within law enforcement. Fox launched a new comedy series in 2023 that achieved the same praise for the same reasons, but the Joel McHale-led sitcom focuses on an even wilder section of law enforcement. Brooklyn 99: Why Chelsea Peretti's Gina Left The Show
Image
Chelsea Peretti's departure from Brooklyn Nine-Nine was not entirely her decision, pointing to possible network influence. Despite Peretti's exit, Brooklyn Nine-Nine maintained its quality with the rest of the cast holding the show together. Peretti made her directorial debut in 2024 and has continued her successful career in voice-over work and acting since leaving the show.

Chelsea Peretti played Gina Linetti on Brooklyn Nine-Nine for several seasons before she was abruptly written out of the show, leaving fans wondering, "Why did Gina leave Brooklyn 99?" Gina served as the 99th Precinct's civilian administrator and was known for weird antics, sarcastic remarks, and disinterest in work. The announcement of Peretti's departure was a shock, especially since it followed a tumultuous 2018 when Fox canceled Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Though NBC picked up the show, news of Peretti leaving soon followed.

Legally Blonde | Prequel television series confirmed at Prime Video
Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon will produce Legally Blonde prequel series Elle for Prime Video. Here are the details.

According to Deadline, a prequel television series to Legally Blonde has been ordered at Amazon Prime Video.

Reese Witherspoon, who starred in the two feature films, will produce the series through her Hello Sunshine production company, alongside Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky and producer of the original films Marc Platt.

Elle will serve as a prequel to the original 2001 film, which saw Witherspoon play Elle Woods, a sorority queen who follows her ex boyfriend to law school to win him back, only to find herself flourishing as an aspiring lawyer.

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White And Blonde followed in 2004. A straight to DVD sequel, Legally Blondes, which Witherspoon produced, starring twins Milly and Becky Rosso, was released in 2009. ‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Series ‘Elle’ Is Just the Latest Franchise Installment in Reese Witherspoon’s Enduring Empire
Image
Reese Witherspoon has bent and snapped her way into a full-fledged “Legally Blonde” empire.

After playing L.A. sorority girl turned Harvard Law School student — and arguably, feminist icon — Elle Woods in 2001, Witherspoon has led sequel “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde” and is slated to star in a third film written by Mindy Kaling and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” co-creator Dan Goor. Kaling previously teased that the third film will center on Elle Woods reevaluating both her career and her perspective on life at age 42, telling Time magazine that she would never want the character to “be canceled or become a Karen.”

While the status of that trilogy installment is still unknown, given that the feature was announced in 2022, Witherspoon has turned instead to building out the “Legally Blonde” brand through TV.

IndieWire can confirm that a “Legally Blonde” prequel series titled “Elle” is in the works at Prime Video, with Witherspoon producing.

Peacock Picks Up Greg Daniels’ ‘The Office’ Universe Series
Image
A new mockumentary series set in the world of “The Office” is not only being developed — but was just picked up by Peacock. “The Office” creator Greg Daniels and “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman’s untitled project has been ordered to series, produced by Utv.

The untitled Daniels/Koman project will star Irish film star Domhnall Gleeson and “The White Lotus” Season 2 breakout Sabrina Impacciatore, as well as an ensemble cast that has yet to be announced. According to a press release from Peacock, the documentary crew behind “The Office” (who stepped out from behind the camera in controversial later seasons) is back to work looking for a new subject, “when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.” Like Dunder Mifflin’s struggle with selling paper in the digital age, the series’ synopsis suggests that it will tackle the...

Every The Office Actor In Brooklyn 99
Image
The crossover between The Office and Brooklyn Nine-Nine is no coincidence, with plenty of cast members appearing in both shows. Both series share a similar comedic tone and joke formulas, making them popular destinations for seasoned comedic performers. Fans of The Office will be delighted to see familiar faces pop up at the 99th precinct in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The shows share a similar comedic tone but are also connected by The Office characters in Brooklyn 99. There are plenty of cast crossovers. It's no accident, as the Harvard-educated Michael Schur co-created Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Dan Goor after writing 12 episodes of The Office and portraying Mose Schrute. In the NBC Scranton series, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) attempts to maintain control of the paper company Dunder Mifflin but often gets manipulated by the work atmosphere that he created. In the cop series, Andy Samberg's Jake Peralta struggles with maturity issues,...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Cast Reunites In Photo 3 Years After The Show Ended
Image
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast reunites in a touching photo shared by several of the show's stars. The reunion is bittersweet after Andre Braugher's passing, highlighting his significant role as a central figure in the show. While the cast remains close, a Brooklyn Nine-Nine revival is unlikely at this time.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast has reunited in a photo taken three years after the show finished its run. Airing eight seasons, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was celebrated by both viewers and critics for its hilarious characters and their often quite wholesome relationships with one another. It's rare for a show to last that long and remain so universally beloved, but that was the case for Brooklyn Nine-Nine through its series finale in September 2021.

Now, the cast has come back together for a photo posted by one of the show's stars, Chelsea Peretti. Check out her post below:

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Most Underrated Character Is the Precinct's Best
Image
New York's Finest have never been finer than on the hit comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The hilarious police sitcom created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur features the most lovable crime fighters on television, with each cast member more hilarious than the last. More than just a squad of detectives, the 99th precinct is a family of the best, brightest, and most boisterous that the NYPD has to offer. While Andy Samberg's Jake Peralta is the driving comedic force of the show and Andre Braugher's stalwart Captain Holt is the backbone of the 99, each member of the detective squad is essential to creating one of the funniest shows in recent decades.

Here's What Makes Brooklyn Nine-Nine a Groundbreaking Comedy Series
Image
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a groundbreaking comedy series that has defied the rules of typical sitcoms following its debut in 2013. It has been described as the most “woke” show in recent history, dealing with a variety of social issues, like feminism, racism, and queerness honorably and respectfully. Most importantly, the humor of the show — and it is very funny — is never aimed at marginalized communities, which unfortunately tends to be the case in sitcoms historically.

Propelled by its talented ensemble cast, led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg as the talented yet immature Detective Jake Peralta and the late and great Andre Braugher as the deadpan Captain Raymond Holt, Brooklyn Nine-Nine brings us relatable, rich characters that make it impossible not to invest in the quirky cop comedy. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is brought to fans by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, the same minds that introduced the world to another beloved workplace comedy,...
