When Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev sit down to discuss a potential nuclear arms treaty in the upcoming film “Reykjavik,” the actors portraying them, Jeff Daniels and Jared Harris, will be lowering themselves into the actual chairs in the actual building where the historic 1986 meeting took place.
Writer-director Michael Russell Gunn, who previously shot “Thai Cave Rescue,” says he loves the “authenticity” of shooting at the actual Höfði House in Iceland. Producer John Logan Pierson adds, “there’s an energy and spirit that comes from shooting in the real place.”
This authenticity was only feasible because of Iceland’s rebates and professional crews. “We needed to make this for a competitive number and sometimes you want to film in a place that isn’t production friendly and lacks a robust infrastructure,” Pierson says.

Stars Help To Raise $4 Million At Charity Auction
Actors Kevin Spacey, Kate Beckinsale and Hugh Grant helped to raise more than $4 million (GBP2 million) for cancer research, after attending a charity auction in London on Saturday.
U2 frontman Bono, Pirates of the Caribbean hunk Orlando Bloom and his model girlfriend Miranda Kerr were also in attendance at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Gala, which was held in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace - the former home of British royal King Henry VIII.
Philanthropist Bono made a surprise appearance on stage hailing the work of the organisation, before making way for Notting Hill star Grant to begin the auction.
And Grant showed his generous side by bidding $250,000 (GBP125,000) for a chance to have dinner with the former president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, who founded the organisation. The money will go towards funding cancer research in the U.K. and Russia, reports People.com.
Bloom admitted he was thrilled to be a part of the event - and would have loved the chance to dine with the former Soviet leader had it not been such an expensive auction item.
He says, "It is amazing to come and support something associated with Mikhail Gorbachev because of what he did. He's going to go down in history because of the way he changed the world."...

Orlando Bloom's romance with Miranda Kerr continues to blossom. The actor and his model girlfriend made an appearance together Saturday at the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation Gala fundraiser in London – and were practically inseparable. "Life is great at the moment," Bloom, 31, told People. "I've just finished a play in the West End, which I really enjoyed, and am about to start filming a new movie. It really couldn't be any better." The sense of occasion wasn't lost on the Pirates of the Caribbean star, either.
