Ekaterina wrote the book My Sergei in 1995. It was the basis for the TV movie in which she appeared.

In 1997, she wrote A Letter for Daria.

She partnered with Target to create two perfume lines: Katia (1997) and Katia Sport (1999). Katia, the fragrance, won the Fifi award.

She appeared in a Milk Mustache ad with her daughter Daria Grinkova, in 1998.

She appeared both alone and with figure skating legend Peggy Flemming in advertisements for Rolex in 1999.

On May 12, 1996, Gordeeva and Grinkov were inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, a decision made prior to Grinkov's death.

She was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 1994.

On November 20, 1995, her husband and partner died suddenly of a heart attack while the pair was practicing for an upcoming tour.

Katia was named one of figure skating's most influential people by International Figure Skating Magazine in the 1995/96 season (awarded posthumously to Grinkov, as well) and by herself for the 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99, and 1999/2000 seasons.

Katia was named American Skating World's Professional Skater of the Year in 1997

She received the Sonja Henie award from the Professional Skaters Association in 1997.

After the death of her husband & partner in 1995, Katia returned to the ice as a solo artist. She continues to perform and tour and has added coach and choreographer to her list of accomplishments in the world of figure skating.

Two-time Olympic Champion (1988 & 1994) - with late-husband & partner Sergei Grinkov. In 1994, professional skaters were permitted to reinstate and compete in the Olympics. Of those who did, Gordeeva & Grinkov were the only ones to win gold.
