Thanks to his performance as Johnny Lawrence in "The Karate Kid," William "Billy" Zabka's appearance exemplifies the archetype of all 1980s movie bullies. Suppose you close your eyes and think of the type of guy who would pester the charming underdog of an '80s teen movie. In that case, he's probably a tall, beefy blonde whose parents definitely had a photo of Ronald Reagan hanging above the TV in their living room. It's not Zabka's fault that he became the blueprint for this character type, but when looking at the landscape of high school movies from the decade, it certainly seems like every casting director was looking for "a Billy Zabka type." In some instances, that meant straight-up hiring him.
Zabka's follow-up to his breakout role in "The Karate Kid" is an oft-forgotten teen comedy directed by Lisa Gottlieb called "Just One of the Guys." A loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night,...

Just One of the Guys is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special 2K Blu-ray remaster release. The teen comedy is an 80s classic, which is loosely based on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. While it received mixed reviews from critics upon its release, the movie has since become a cult classic. The project was directed by Lisa Gottlieb and co-written by Dennis Feldman and Jeff Franklin, though according to Gottlieb, she also co-wrote the screenplay with Mitch Giannunzio, but he was denied writing credit by the studio. The Blu-ray edition will be available to purchase on April 28th.

Jenny Lewis got a little help from her friends promoting her new album The Voyager, which releases on July 29. Kristen Stewart, Brie Larson and Anne Hathaway joined the singer-songwriter in the music video for “Just One of the Guys.” We’re sorely disappointed that Lewis didn’t take this opportunity to pay homage to the endlessly entertaining 1985 Lisa Gottlieb comedy, also called Just One of the Guys. However, we’re treated to Stewart and company in Adidas-clad B-Boy drag — and the Twilight actress even smiles a little bit. The video is all fun and games, but the song itself has a somber tone to it. Lewis has contributed music to indie films Very Good Girls and Song One (which starred Hathaway), so it’s nice to see her continue a...

In a sea of boob and fart-filled '80s teen comedies, Lisa Gottlieb's Just One of the Guys is a smarty pants, funny as hell take on the typical high school tropes. It's also the movie where I learned that you could use a broken pencil eraser as an impromptu earring backing! There are a host of colorful characters, including an intelligent and charming lead actress in Joyce Hyser, who portrays Terri Griffith. She's a cute wannabe journalist who wants to be taken seriously but keeps getting the wrong kind of attention, so she enrolls in a rival high school as a boy to prove that women can write their pants off the same as men.
During Terri's journey of self discovery and fight for fair treatment, her super horny brother Buddy (who plasters his bedroom walls with centerfold posters and hilariously hams it up in every scene) tries...
