Thus far, the Faith slate has been interesting. Faith in the Flames was a classic ripped-from-the-headlines tale inspired by the real story of a brave heroine, and Before Your Father Finds Us was an original Lifetime thriller.

Meanwhile, Terri Blackstock’s If I Run is a suspenseful book adaptation and the first part of a trilogy.

They’ve mixed and matched vibes and feels, with some rooted heavily in faith and others barely scratching the surface. Ideally, it aims to provide a diverse range of content and help us determine what resonates with viewers the most.

Of course, Lifetime adapting books to the screen is nothing new, and goodness knows those have resulted in some of the best and most addictive television series and films over the past couple of decades.

I won’t lie, Dave has been driving me insane. How does someone who reeks of being a loser get so ahead in life? When the episode starts, he’s being interviewed on television.

Heroes deserve to have a moment in the spotlight, but losers don’t. And as usual, Dave is the charming, cringeworthy loser he is. This man is truly confusing. But those are the upsides of being a conventionally attractive cisgender heterosexual white man. They tend to fail upwards.

But as things escalate and Dave gets celebrated for being a hero, I’m thinking “the bigger they are, the harder they fall.”

In a different world, Michael would have been released already. The film was once scheduled to come out on April 18, 2025. Production delays then pushed the movie to October 2025, but the film then got entwined in legal trouble that left it pushed once again. Now, it is slated for April 24, 2026.

As Gold Derby reported months ago, the Lionsgate film made an expected move from a planned Oct. 3 release to April 24, 2026.

Michael had been targeted as potential awards bait coming into 2025, but its fate seemed iffy when it was omitted from Lionsgate's CinemaCon presentation to movie theater exhibitors in April. This was a 180 from last year's CinemaCon when the studio shared a first look at Michael.

Weeks later, Lionsgate executives said the film was likely to shift into 2026 amid reports that the four-hour cut would be reconfigured as a two-part release. The news comes weeks after actors from both shows shared behind the scenes snaps on Instagram and other social media platforms following a taping last month in Atlanta.

Although a specific air date for the soap opera cast matchup has not been revealed, the primetime game show is scheduled to launch its new season on Thursday, July 10 at 8:00 p.m. Et/Pt on ABC with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.

Following the success of Beauty of Black, Tyler Perry's next series lands its official release date on Netflix. The next Perry show on Netflix takes a political turn as the award-winning filmmaker unveils his new comedy, She the People.

Netflix confirmed on its official website that, like Beauty in Black, the first season Perry's She the People will feature 16 episodes broken up into two batches. CinemaCon is all about studios showcasing to exhibitors what they have on their docket that they should be excited about. Lionsgate had its presentation and wisely revealed that John Wick would be coming back for a fifth round of action while also discussing how that universe would be expanding. Lionsgate also has what could be one of the biggest musical biopics on the schedule in Michael, a film directed by Antoine Fuqua that should get fans of Michael Jackson excited. It would be a project that a studio would want to showcase to exhibitors since it's supposed to open in the fall of this year, but it was noticeably absent from their presentation. Why was it missing in action? As it turns out, some of the issues have to do with how to release the film, and the other matter in question is if it will even release this year at all.

Michael's current cut runs nearly four hours, and the possibility of it being split into two parts is on the table but not definite yet, according to the trade. The Lionsgate film is currently scheduled to open on Oct. 3, but the date remains in flux.

This development is not surprising after Lionsgate offered no updates on Michael during its CinemaCon presentation to movie theater exhibitors on Tuesday. This was a 180 from last year's CinemaCon when the studio shared a first look at Michael.

Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael,” may be split into two movies. As a result, the Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International project will likely push its current Oct. 3 release date.

While “Michael” was a major part of last year’s Lionsgate CinemaCon presentation, no footage from the project was shown during this year’s outing. The film, produced by “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Graham King, wrapped principal photography in May 2024, but John Logan’s script is in the process of being revised in advance of reshoots.

“Michael,” which carries a roughly $155 million budget, stars Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, who makes his screen debut in the film. Colman Domingo and Nia Long will play family heads Joe and Katherine Jackson, while Miles Teller will play Jackson’s attorney and advisor John Branca.
