The hit series 9-1-1: Lone Star recently came to an end, but the franchise will be moving forward with another spinoff series to fill the empty void that's created. This time, the show will be focusing on emergency responders working in Tennessee.
Per Deadline, it's been revealed that a new show, 9-1-1: Nashville, is coming to ABC for the 2025-26 season. It was previously reported that a new 9-1-1 offshoot was in development, though details weren't confirmed about its location. Currently, no information is known about the plot of the new series beyond its setting in Nashville, and no cast members have been announced. It can be presumed that a team of first responders will be at the heart of the story.

Say what you want about Ryan Murphy, but he always seems to be thinking about the best way to make his television empire thrive. Before today, there was no indication that his popular procedural series 9-1-1 and his newest endeavor, Doctor Odyssey, shared a universe, but that's all set to change as the worlds of his two ABC series are about to collide.
Per Variety, 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey will cross over in a special episode of the latter that will see Angela Bassett's character, Athena Grant from 9-1-1, head over to the cruise ship on Doctor Odyssey led by Joshua Jackson's Dr. Max Bankman. Doctor Odyssey focuses on a different themed cruise in each episode, and this particular crossover event will take place during Casino Week on the ship, which will see Bassett's Athena suspecting two passengers of trying to Ocean's 11 the ship's vault.

Succession star Brian Cox has been a bit candid in the past about some of the people he's worked with. He has referred to Steven Seagal as one actor who's "overrated," and now Cox has shared more details about one film that he'd worked on with the 90s action movie star.
In 1996, Cox appeared in Seagal's action comedy movie The Glimmer Man. Directed by John Gray, the film featured Seagal as a former CIA operative turned Buddhist who is known as "The Glimmer Man" because of the speed at which he takes out his enemies. Cox also starred alongside Keenen Ivory Wayans and Michelle Johnson. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Cox reflected on his time spent filming The Glimmer Man, remembering how it actually worked out for him when Seagal refused to say his lines off-camera for their scenes together.

Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time book series is widely known for its detailed, well-planned, well-paced storytelling. Over the course of 14 works epic fantasy, he does a fantastic job of developing his characters and the world they live in slowly, without too many big, unexplained jumps. It is all quite masterful.
As good as these books are, there are some flaws. Jordan can be overly descriptive at times. Although I don't personally subscribe to this line of critique, some think that the story is too long and takes too much time to tell; there's a whole section fans have dubbed "the slog" which runs roughly from books 7 through 10.
But probably the biggest issue with these books is the sexism, which is almost constant until author Brandon Sanderson takes over authorship of the series will Book 11, after Jordan's death in 2007. It's not necessarily a prejudicial or discriminatory type of sexism...

Brian Cox recalls working with Steven Seagal on a 1996 action comedy with an 11% Rotten Tomatoes score. The Scottish actor is best known to modern audiences as Logan Roy from HBO's Succession, receiving three Emmy nominations for his portrayal of the aging and brash patriarch and media mogul. However, as a classically trained Shakespearean actor, Cox has also appeared in many movies from the 1980s to the 2010s as a character actor, including Manhunter, Braveheart, The Boxer, The Rookie, Troy, Adaptation, X2, and Churchill.
Over his career, Cox has been outspoken about his co-stars and fellow actors, famously and frequently voicing his disapproval of his co-star Jeremy Strong's method acting on the set of Succession. He also recently discussed his co-star Daniel Day-Lewis' method acting on the 1997 film The Boxer, calling his approach "a little off-putting." The teams behind five Oscar-qualifying live-action and documentary short films gathered Friday evening at The Culver Theater in Culver City, California, for TheWrap Screening Series‘ shorts showcase. They discussed the origins of their films in a 45-minute conversation moderated by TheWrap’s Executive Editor of Awards, Steve Pond.
First on tap was “A Place to Fall Down,” a live action short film written and directed by Duane Hansen Fernandez that delves into the life of a mechanic struggling to deal with grief and loneliness. Those feelings and emotions were things Fernandez was interested in investigating “coming out of the pandemic,” and a 15-minute short film was an intriguing way to go about telling that story.

Boris Karloff is one of the most iconic names in horror history, having put his talents to use in some of the greatest early entries in the genre. Getting his start as a background actor in the silent films of the late 20s and early 30s, Karloff rose to fame thanks to his portrayal of Frankenstein's monster in the hit 1931 film Frankenstein. His gaunt features and lanky frame went on to become a classic image in the early Universal monster movies of the 40s and 50s.
Between Frankenstein's monster and the Mummy, Boris Karloff was well-known for his roles as the titular villain of various creature features. However, he was also quite an accomplished dramatic actor in some less overtly supernatural horror fare, successfully transitioning from acting in silent movies to speaking roles. While his dulcet tones became famous in the narration of the holiday classic How The Grinch Stole Christmas,...

Mother’s Day weekend 2019 marked a turning point in the young life of Madhuri Shekar.
It all started two years before with a phone call from a woman named Kate Navin, then head of theater for Audible. Navin said she’d recently been armed with money to develop original works from emerging play- wrights, and she was calling to offer Shekar, just a year out of Juilliard, the chance to write. The only catch: Shekar’s play would have to be crafted as an audio-only production.
Shekar’s answer to this challenge was “Evil Eye,” a 100-minute potboiler that revolves around daily telephone conversations between a mother in India and a daughter in Los Angeles. The finished play was released on Audible in May 2019. For Shekar, the impact on her career was immediate. Within weeks, she was negotiating a deal with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Blumhouse for the movie version...

True Detective shows hints of greatness but ultimately borrows heavily from better films, books, and thinkers. Rust Cohle, the standout character, was the first embodiment of the series' tendency to steal its greatest moments. Each season of True Detective draws inspiration from different genres and sources, often resulting in a watered-down imitation. Especially season four.
Pretty much every artist steals. Culture is an ongoing communication between people across centuries and countries; it's a dialogue between artists of the past and present. It's a dialectical process in which things are imitated, mixed with different copies, and eventually become something different. But there's a line between simply being unoriginal (most art is to varying degrees) and being egregiously parasitic, taking far more than it gives and without any credit. It's the difference between a paraphrase and copying a quotation without citation. That's the line True Detective walks.
For many of us, True Detective...

Cinema is a storytelling medium that’s constantly evolving and it’s truly remarkable how much movies have changed since the 1940s, especially when it comes to particular genres like horror. Horror remains one of cinema’s most versatile genres that examines the universal feeling of fear and suspense. Modern horror movies can be dense in gore or psychologically troubling. However, the ability to get away with more and push boundaries doesn’t always result in a stronger horror movie.
Horror movies from the 1940s are close to a century old and can come across as quite tame by contemporary standards. That being said, 1940s horror can still be incredibly creepy and some of the decade’s contributions can confidently hold their own with most modern movies.

All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until July 13 to cast their 2020 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs (save for animated documentary/nonfiction which are restricted to their peer groups). Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. In the past, voters were limited in the number of programs that they could put forth. Three years ago that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted.
While there has been an explosion in the number of comedy and drama series recently, the limited series genre had been almost static. There were 25 entries in 2015, 26 in 2016 and 25 again in 2017. But there has been an uptick as of late, with 33 such shows submitted in 2018, 35 last year and 41 for this awards cycle. Even so, with five nominees for Best Limited Series, the odds for each of the entries detailed below is pretty good.

Discovery Channel is removing a five-second scene from Sunday’s episode of “River of No Return” in which a cast member hits a horse with a hammer after PETA issued a letter to Idaho’s Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office requesting a criminal investigation into the incident Thursday.

In the scene, which aired on Oct. 27, Ron Ens, a cast member on the show, is seen striking a tethered horse with a metal hammer typically used for horse-shoeing. PETA has also requested that Discovery remove the episode and cut ties with Ens. You can watch PETA’s clip of the scene here.

Discovery has greenlit a new series, “River of No Return” — and by the sound of it, it’s not going to be your average camping trip.
The series follows a small community of people who live in Idaho’s remote Frank Church Wilderness, where the only way in or out is by plane — or, for the brave, by boat across the perilous Salmon River.
Lewis and Clark described the river — the largest un-dammed river in North America — as “foaming and roaring through rocks in every direction, so as to render the passage of anything impossible.” The 2.3 million acres of secluded wilderness beyond, also known as “The Frank,” is home to some of the last stretches of undeveloped frontier — and some very steep canyons.

Overnight, the diva dropped "Level Up," her first single since "Dance Like We're Making Love" was released in 2015—and the first single since she signed to Warner Bros. Records last year. J.R. Rotem produced the track for the singer's forthcoming seventh studio album, and it samples the Jersey Remix of "We Are Young" (used in the "F--k It Up Challenge"). The video, directed and choreographed by Parris Goebel, a.k.a. Parri$, features the ReQuest Dance Crew. The song's title cleverly references Ciara's controversial #LevelUp social media posts. In January, she reposted a video clip from John Gray's "He Who Finds a...

Friends and colleagues of Ian Sander are gathering at 10 Am this morning at Valley Beth Shalom for a memorial celebration of the veteran TV producer, who died last Tuesday at the age of 68. Among them is writer-producer John Gray, creator/executive producer of the long-running CBS drama Ghost Whisperer starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, on which Sander served as an executive producer alongside his wife and long-time producing partner Kim Moses, as well as in-house director.
Here is Gray’s remembrance of his long-time friend:
I’ve been having a very hard time getting used to using the past tense when thinking or talking about Ian. He was my friend for the last 27 years. He was hilariously funny. He was incredibly smart. Like any sudden death, the finality, the knowledge that you now know what the limit is going to be for how long you know [knew] this person, is surreal and wrenching.

Marriott Digital Studio is gearing up audiences for its upcoming flick. The studio branch of the global hotel chain has released the trailer for its second short film French Kiss, which will premiere on May 19, 2015.

While in Paris for an innovation conference at the Champs Élysées Marriott hotel, Ethan is goaded into following a string of unusual, magical clues strewn across the city by his secret admirer Margaux (French model and actress Margot Luciarte). The start of Summit Entertainment’s trajectory began when the mini-major convinced Stephenie Meyer to sell her Twilight Saga book series after she’d been left so frustrated by how Paramount Pictures let it languish. Was it a billion dollar lucky break? As the vampire-werewolf series that fueled Summit’s recent $750 million refinancing comes to a close, Summit has bet heavily on books for its future franchises. Under production chief Erik Feig, Summit has been as prolific a buyer of books as any studio in town over the past two years. Most are conducive to young casts.
As Deadline predicted, Summit Entertainment has closed a screen rights deal for Veronica Roth’s young adult novel Divergent, which will be published by the HarperCollins imprint Katherine Tegen Books. It takes place in a futuristic dystopia where society is divided into factions as kids are categorized based on human traits. A teenage...
