Loosely based upon the popular biographical book series by author Laura Ingalls Wilder (played by Melissa Gilbert), the show follows the adventures of the Ingalls family as they relocate to the small town of Walnut Grove. Set in 19th century America, the Ingalls, comprised of Laura, Mary (Melissa Sue Anderson), Carrie (Sidney and Lindsay Greenbush), and led by parents Charles (Michael Landon) and Caroline (Karen Grassle) faced many hardships, which allowed the show to take on incredibly controversial topics.

Surprises Ahead For Stars In The House Anniversary Week
Image
On March 16, 2020, Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley launched “Stars In The House” in response to what they knew would be an immediate need for funds in light of the Broadway shutdown.

Now, one year and over 375 episodes later, “Stars In The House” has raised over $715,000 for The Actors Fund, and an additional $200,000 for other charity organizations who have needed support throughout the pandemic.

“We can’t believe it has been a year! We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of our viewers, who send in donations from all over the world,” said Rudetsky and Wesley. “We thought that after the first few weeks, contributions would dwindle and the show would be more about bringing some joy and positivity during these dark times. But the fact that we have been able to do both – deliver fun and financial support – is beyond our wildest dreams. We are so grateful to our team behind the scenes,...

Michael Landon in Bonanza (1959)
'Little House on the Prairie' reunion: The cast remembers life in Walnut Grove
Michael Landon in Bonanza (1959)
In 1974, TV audiences were introduced to the Ingalls family, a frontier clan living in a rustic cabin in the Minnesota wilderness during the 1870s and '80s. America was in the middle of its Me Decade, with an exhausting war and general upheaval at home. The weekly dramas of a farmer and his children—based on the Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder—were an irresistible look at a simpler time when people based their lives around family, home, and church. (All nine seasons are available on Digital HD on Amazon; seasons 1–3 are also available on Blu-ray and DVD from Lionsgate.

Remembering 'Little House on the Prairie' star Michael Landon
Michael Landon in Bonanza (1959)
It's nearly impossible to talk about Little House on the Prairie without talking about the show's director/executive producer/star, Michael Landon, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 1991. When EW reunited many members of Walnut Grove—Ingalls kids Laura (Melissa Gilbert), Mary (Melissa Anderson), Carrie (Lindsay Greenbush, who split the role with her twin sister, Sidney), and Albert (Matthew Laborteaux), along with town bully Nellie Oleson (Alison Arngrim), Laura's husband, Almanzo Wilder (Dean Butler), kindly schoolteacher Miss Beadle (Charlotte Stewart) and Ingalls matriarch Caroline (Karen Grassle)—memories of Landon were everywhere. "What I remember the most from my audition was meeting Michael Landon,...

Sony, David Gordon Green In Talks To Direct 'Little House on the Prairie' Movie
Remember Little House on the Prairie? The late '70s-early '80s family drama that starred Melissa Gilbert, Lindsay Greenbush and the late Michael Landon (pictured, right) may be coming back to life. Sony Pictures is in negotiations to turn the long-running television show into a feature film that David Gordon Green would direct. Green's resume doesn't instill much confidence that this project will be very successful. His last three films include duds The Sitter, Your Highness and Pineapple Express. That been said, he did helm the excellent Snow Angels and All the Real Girls, so who knows, maybe he can return to his former glory. Little House on the Prairie is based on the semi-autobiographical classic children's book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder written...
