Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Shannen Doherty in Charmed (1998)
Jennie Garth, Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs and More ‘Charmed’ and ‘90210’ Costars Remember Shannen Doherty at 90s Con
Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Shannen Doherty in Charmed (1998)
Charmed stars Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan and Dorian Gregory, and Beverly Hills, 90210 stars Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris and Brian Austin Green remembered former costar Shannen Doherty two months after her death at the Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed panels at 90s Con in Daytona Beach, Florida. Beverly Hills, 90210 The cast of Beverly Hills 90210, courtesy of Everett Collection The Beverly Hills, 90210 panel began with the audience giving a special cheer in Doherty’s honor. “To see how much she means to all of you,” Jennie Garth said, “she was a very special woman, and we miss her so much.” Her former costars found a lot of meaning, and a lot to honor, in Doherty’s openness about her long battle with breast cancer. “I have a friend right now who’s really sick with cancer, and she said that Shannen really inspired her,” Gabrielle Carteris said. “So I...

Where Is the Cast of Charmed Today?
Image
Catching up with Charmed cast mates can offer therapeutic solace amid the mourning of TV icon Shannen Doherty's passing. Charmed's compelling storyline follows supernatural siblings using their powers for good, gaining a solid fanbase from 1998-2006. The talented Charmed cast members have continued to thrive post-show, taking on new projects in TV, movies, and advocacy work.

As the entertainment world continues to mourn the passing of TV titan Shannen Doherty, catching up with her Charmed cast mates may do some therapeutic good. In addition to leaving an indelible mark in the 1990s as Brenda Walsh on the hit teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210, Doherty revamped her TV persona by starring as Prue Halliwell in Charmed's first three seasons, trading her innocent teen image for a spell-casting witch who acts with love and kindness.

Running on the WB for eight seasons and 179 episodes between 1998 and 2006, Charmed follows a trio of...

Lifetime’s ‘Fatal Fixer Upper’ Needs a Few Plot Repairs [Review]
Image
Writer Adam Rockoff reteams with director David DeCoteau on a new Lifetime thriller that bears a striking resemblance to this month’s earlier title, Million Dollar Lethal Listing.

In Fatal Fixer Upper, Vivian (Jasmine Aivaliotis) and Ryan (Philip McElroy) are a young married couple preparing to purchase their dream home. Just like in Million Dollar Lethal Listing, the deal is too good to be true: the house is wildly underpriced, the owner is looking for a quick sale, and they’re asked to make a hefty cash deposit.

Unlike the former title, though, there’s no mystery about who the villain is in Fatal Fixer Upper. The film opens with a classic Lifetime cold open that immediately establishes that there is a bad man keeping an eye on things. His identity is quickly revealed as Josh Thomas (Duke Van Patten), the home’s original owner and the person spying on...

“Alyssa Has Threatened To Sue”: Shannen Doherty’s Charmed Firing Explained By Original Stars
Image
Co-star Alyssa Milano allegedly threatened to sue the Charmed cast for a hostile workplace environment, leading to Shannen Doherty being fired. Doherty denies being mean to Milano on set and recounts a time when she directed an episode and was kind and understanding toward Milano's requests. Despite accepting that the situation happened, Doherty emphasizes that acceptance and moving on does not equate to forgiveness, indicating lingering tensions among the cast.

The Charmed cast alleges that Shannen Doherty was fired from the show after being threatened by co-star Alyssa Milano. Charmed was a TV series about three sisters who discover they are descendants of witches. The series ran for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006. In addition to Milano and Doherty, Charmed starred Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan, Brian Krause, and Dorian Gregory.

As per the Let’s Be Clear podcast, Doherty was reportedly fired from Charmed after threats from co-star Milano. Combs...

This 'Charmed' Character Deserved a Better Ending
Image
Throughout all eight seasons of the original Charmed, the Halliwell sisters — Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), and Paige (Rose McGowan) — were assisted by many friendly faces. Most notable, of course, are Piper’s husband and neighborhood Whitelighter Leo Wyatt (Brian Krause) and Inspector Darryl Morris (Dorian Gregory), the latter of whom used his position to cover up many of the Halliwells’ magical antics around San Francisco. But, to step into the Charmed Ones’ lives meant opening yourself up to danger, as we see very early on with Prue’s longtime love Andy (Ted King) dying at the end of the first season. While many of the Charmed characters met a brutal and tragic fate over the seasons, there were explanations (such as pushing the story forward or actors choosing to leave). But one character in particular, Billie Jenkins (Kaley Cuoco), had a terrible, undeserved, and...

Every Scripted TV Series from Bipoc Creators or Showrunners in 2021-2022
Image
An October 2020 UCLA Hollywood Diversity study — which focused on broadcast, cable and streaming programming for the previous two television seasons — reported that, when it comes to racial diversity in television industry jobs, while Black, indigenous, and other people of color (Bipoc) creatives continue to make incremental gains, positions at the highest ranks and behind the camera still elude them. The group is not represented proportionately to their share of the U.S. population overall, even though audiences continue to show interest in programming with talent that represents the nation’s diversity.

The analysis found that the greatest racial disparities are in behind-the-camera jobs such as a show’s creator, director, and writer: Among digital programs, just 10.3 percent of show creators were Bipoc; in broadcast, 10.7 percent; and for cable, 14.7 percent.

White men still dominate these positions, as well as high-level TV executive jobs. As of 2020, chair/CEO positions were overwhelmingly held...

The Staggering Weirdness of Baywatch Nights
Mark Harrison Sep 30, 2019

Remember 1995's Baywatch Nights? Oh, we 'member a whole pile of David Hasselhoff-starring strangeness...

This article originally appeared on Den of Geek UK.

For younger readers, the original Baywatch was an action drama that charted the professional and personal lives of county lifeguards in Los Angeles, saving people from drowning but also tackling other seaside perils like sharks, earthquakes and serial killers. The show was almost cancelled after its disappointing first season in 1989, but thanks to the efforts of producer and star David Hasselhoff, it was resuscitated for first-run syndication and found huge international success over the following ten seasons.

The conventional wisdom that brought us 2017's Baywatch film with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, along with so many other reboots, is that something is easier to market if it has already existed in some form than if it's entirely original, and that same logic has applied...

Hasselhoff: The Night Stalker - Foywonder Salutes Baywatch Nights Season 2
"Hasselhoff: The Night Stalker" I dubbed “Baywatch Nights” when it aired its fabulously misguided second (and final) season. The “Baywatch” spin-off with lifeguard David Hasselhoff moonlighting as a Pi abruptly transformed into an “X-Files” wannabe with him battling the paranormal.

The results, as you are about to see, were pure trainwreck TV.

Believe it or not, there really was a time when “Baywatch” was the most watched television program in the entire world. Pamela Anderson’s (ahem) buoyancy transcended language barriers worldwide. The primary reason for the show’s global success was obvious to every red-blooded male except perhaps for producer/star David Hasselhoff. I once heard him in an interview try to claim it was the show’s storytelling that kept people coming back week after week and not because internet porn was still a few years away from being at everyone’s fingertips. Yeah, the storylines... That’s...

An immediate success, Soul Train was quickly syndicated and began airing in selected cities across the Us. The show's home base moved to Los Angeles in 1972 where it remains today.
