After six seasons on Fox, the decision was made in 2023 to cancel the medical drama, The Resident. The show premiered in 2018 and garnered a decent following before its run was abruptly cut short. Prior to the show's cancellation, speculation was quite high, and The Resident featured atop the standings for shows which viewers wanted to save. That did not materialize at the time, but now, those conversations have been reignited.
Two years after its cancellation, co-creator Amy Holden Jones and executive producer Andrew Chapman recently spoke about what would have happened had the show persisted into a seventh season. Speaking in a conversation with TV Insider, Jones revealed that should a revival become a possibility, much of the show's cast are willing to return to their scrubs, saying,
“I think we would love — and everybody involved would love — to just go back into the show. Unlike some of these spin-offs,...

Eight years before he became the Equalizer, Denzel Washington headlined an oft-forgotten time travel movie. Luckily for his fans, they will have a chance to stream the 2006 sci-fi action flick Déjà Vu for free next month on Tubi.
Beginning July 1, Déjà Vu will be available to stream on Tubi. Set in New Orleans, the 2006 movie stars Washington as Atf Special Agent Douglas Carlin, who travels back in time in an attempt to prevent a domestic terrorist attack and save the woman he's fallen in love with. Val Kilmer and Bruce Greenwood co-star as FBI special agents, with Paula Patton and Jim Caviezel rounding out the main cast as Claire Kuchever and Carroll Oerstadt, respectively. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Déjà Vu was a commercial success, grossing $180.6 million worldwide against its $75 million production budget.

Will Smith made headlines this week when he revealed that he passed on the lead role in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, but one of his movies has returned to streaming glory only a few years after it was released. Smith stars alongside Ben Foster and Ronnie Gene Blevins in Emancipation, the R-rated period action thriller following a runaway slave trekking through the swamps of Louisiana on a journey to escape the plantation owners who nearly killed him. Emancipation began streaming on Apple TV+ on December 2, 2022, and it’s currently one of the most popular movies in the world on the streamer, charting in more than 25 countries globally. The film earned “rotten” scores of 45% from critics and 58% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Will Smithhas starred in plenty of science-fiction movies throughout his career, and one of them will find a new streaming home next month. The 2004 feature I, Robot will make its way to Hulu in July. I, Robot was generally well-received by fans and even got a handful of awards recognition, including an Academy Award nomination.
Based on the 1950s book of the same name by Isaac Asimov, I, Robot stars Smith as Del Spooner, a Chicago detective biased against robots; he suffers from survivor's guilt because the robot who rescued him didn't rescue a young girl in an accident. This movie takes place in the year 2035, in a world where humanoid robots serve humanity, but that changes following the murder of Dr. Alfred Lanning. Spooner suspects that a robot is behind the crime, but he eventually finds out that the case is tied to a bigger conspiracy.

Films have a magical ability to transport us across worlds and time when done right. While fictional tales have their own magic, some stories are so extraordinary, so deeply human, that they deserve to be told on the silver screen.
Such biographical dramas, rooted in real-life events, have the rare power to not only captivate and entertain but also to educate and inspire. These films peel away the layers of history and paint a picture of the triumphs, struggles, and complexities of some of the most remarkable individuals who helped shape the world and occasionally, and made it a better place.
From tales of heroism in the face of unimaginable horrors and adversities to stories of quiet resilience, Hollywood has no shortage of biographical dramas that resonate. Although there are times when the creative flair takes over and adds a bit of dramatic flourish to create a story worthy of cinematic appeal,...

Netflix recently added one of the best horror films of the decade in Barbarian. If you survived that onslaught to the senses, we've got three more horrifying tales for you.
A quick note: like Barbarian, all three of these films are led by strong women, both the characters and actresses. So if you're the incel-type with mommy issues, you might want to stay safe with your Jason and Freddy fantasies. The adults will be watching these.
As in director Zach Cregger's startling debut film, all three of these films feature women who are thrown into the role of the victim, but (no spoilers) attempt to fight their way through the grisly events they face. A side note: for certain bloggers. I see this all too often. "Grizzly" refers to a type of bear. "Grisly" is derived from the Old English "grislic", meaning horrible. And horrible fates await in all three of these films.

Mike Flanagan made his impact on the horror genre with different projects, but he became popular after his partnership with Netflix for shows like The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher. However, the auteur is very well-versed in the adaptation of Stephen King's novels.
The horror mastermind is often critical of his adaptations, but his partnership with Flanagan has proven extremely prolific. After Flanagan focused exclusively on creating and directing TV shows, he also worked on several Stephen King projects. The latest one, The Life of Chuck, debuted last year to positive reviews and awards chatter at the Toronto International Film Festival, and, as it finally hit theaters, it features an equally thrilling score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Following its release at TIFF, The Life of Chuck debuted with a score of 80% from the critics. Not much has changed since then, except...

The season finale of Dark Winds wastes no time catching up with the fraud Dr. Reynolds (John Diehl). Teddi Issacs (Carly Roland) was on the cusp of gathering her belongings and getting away, but Reynolds appeared in the nick of time with a proposal from a friend to bankroll another dig site for them. By this time, of course, Teddi no longer trusts him. Not only is he a crooked researcher, he’s a self-made murderer. Try as she might to render herself free from the man, he overpowers her even with his aged strength. In a flash Teddi’s head is brutally bashed against the hotel room table, instantly killing her.
Gordo (A. Martinez) and Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) find the blood-riddled vehicle of Dr. Reynolds. And much to their surprise, they find Teddi Issacs dead in the trunk.

Sci-fi disaster films have always been an attraction, although not all of them were a success. The star-studded film The Core was an example of a film that was not as successful as it hoped to be.

You can't undersell the impact "Paranormal Activity" had on the found footage movie boom. While there were plenty of predecessors that made the horror subgenre feel downright revolutionary like "The Blair Witch Project" and "Cloverfield," Oren Peli's self-contained haunted house flick kicked the doors down when it came to studio interest. It delivered suspenseful thrills and chills on a micro-budget that allowed it to make an unbelievable profit for Paramount. Everyone tried to recapture the magic with varying levels of success.
Peli would spend the following years producing the "Paranormal Activity" and "Insidious" franchises, while conjuring an original idea for television with "Paranormal Activity 2" co-writer Michael R. Perry. The result was 2012's "The River," a found footage adventure-horror series that only ran for one season on ABC.

I know how much our readers love Stephen King and Mike Flanagan individually. So, it’s an extra special treat when the talented creators team up on a project. When that unholy pair comes together, they make magic. Doctor Sleep is a great showcase of the beloved storytellers combining their powers. But that’s far from their only team-up.
This June, we’ll get to see King and Flanagan’s latest collab, The Life of Chuck. If you don’t think you can wait until then, I have another Flanagan/King crossover in mind that you may want to check out. I’m talking about the Netflix horror-thriller, Gerald’s Game. It’s an emotionally charged, self-contained effort that needs to be seen.
Gerald’s Game plays out like this:
Jesse (Carla Gugino) accidentally kills her husband (Bruce Greenwood) during foreplay. They drove out to a remote area in an attempt to reignite their flailing relationship.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Dark Winds Season 3 Episode 4, “Chahalheel (Darkness Falls).”] Dark Winds made way for a new love triangle as Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) found herself caught between Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) and new colleague Ivan Muños (Alex Meraz) in Season 3’s latest installment, “Chahalheel.” After Bernadette’s official border patrol photo is found amid a crime scene, Chee calls her up and conveys concern about the situation, noting that she could be targeted by whoever is behind the apparent drug trafficking scheme. While all signs point to Tom Spenser (Bruce Greenwood), everything is merely speculation until the investigation uncovers anything further. While Chee’s phone call is taken into consideration, he takes his concerns to an extreme by driving out to visit Bernadette at the border hundreds of miles away. Unaware of Bernadette’s kindling romance with coworker Ivan, Chee drops in on her at work, and she indicates he should follow...

AMC's adaptation of Graham Roland’s critically acclaimed Navajo-centered psychological thriller, Dark Winds has begun its third season run. The show has seen the return of Zahn McClarnon as Joe Leaphorn, a lieutenant and veteran of the tribal police. It has been a tough season for Leaphorn so far, as the officer struggles with the guilt of having to turn executioner with regard to B.J. Vines (John Diehl) in Season 2. Leaphorn's partner and trusty assistant, Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon), has returned to the force, and the younger officer is oblivious to the truth regarding Vines' death.
The show's latest episode is titled "Ch'į́į́dii (Ghosts)" and Special Agent Sylvia Washington (Jenna Elfman) has found Vines' body in the desert, triggering a bout of guilt for Joe, some of it supernatural. Jim is sure to notice and Gordon has since discussed how his character's relationship with Joe has evolved amid the suspicion.

Here’s a trivia question for everyone: What’s the connection between Star Trek: The Original Series and the movies The Goonies, Throw Momma from the Train, and Scrooged? The answer is… Logan Ramsey, the late, great character actor whose career spanned from 1948 to 1999 and who would have turned 104 on March 21, 2025.
Star Trek fans will recall that Ramsey low-key chewed the scenery as Proconsul Claudius Marcus in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Bread and Circuses.” He’s the character who gave his slave, Drusilla (Lois Jewell), to Captain Kirk (William Shatner), so that Kirk could enjoy “some last hours as a man” before his execution. Sadly, Ramsey died of a heart attack at the age of 79 in 2000.
In addition to Star Trek, he counted among his many theater, movie, and television credits The Devil’s Disciple and The Great Indoors, both on stage; the films Head, Walking Tall, Any Which Way You Can,...

A couple of guys are driving along in a pickup. The driver is pleased with himself for taking a holster out of a pickup. That must be Bernadette’s gun, as he picked it up down by the river. He’s pleased with himself for being panther-like.
The older fellow driving with him proves how panther-like the driver is when he smothers him with a “have a nice day” grocery bag. He takes the gun from his waistband and shoves the car down the ravine before using the nearby bulldozer to begin dropping dirt on the truck.
(Michael Moriatis/AMC)
The driver wakes up to this nightmare. The ravine looked much larger than the allotment of dirt, but it’s filled in entirely.

Dark Winds has returned to AMC+ with a strong debut for Season 3.
Per AMC, the third season’s premiere episode attracted 2.2M viewers in the first three days of availability, which is up more than 50% in viewership over the Season 2 premiere.
The latest season has also doubled subscriber acquisition compared to the previous season, indicating a strong growth trajectory and bodes well for the already renewed series as Season 4 begins filming this month.
“We are so proud of this series, and so thankful for the response from fans and critics to the storytelling, the performances and the authenticity that comes through in every frame,” Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said in a statement. “We knew Dark Winds had all the ingredients to become another important franchise for AMC and AMC+, but for Season 3 to attract more than 2.2 million premiere night viewers and again receive...

Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon), the Navajo reservation cop in AMC’s terrific Seventies period mystery series Dark Winds, is described by his longtime friend and colleague Gordo Sena (A Martinez) in the third-season premiere as “the most capable person I’ve ever met.” This is not hyperbole on the part of a fellow tribal cop; everything we saw of Joe in the first two seasons suggested a figure every bit as indomitable — and, for that matter, as visually striking — as the sandstone buttes that give the show’s Monument Valley setting its name.

The third season of Dark Winds solidifies why the series has become one of AMC’s top-notch shows of the last few years. Zahn McClarnon reaffirms his success as a leading man. When Joe Leaphorn feels pain, the audience feels pain right along with him, which is a testament to McClarnon’s stellar acting and phenomenal writing. The casting and the Diné cultural storytelling this season have been a treat and leave us with much more knowledge of the Navajo Nation.
Dark Winds was adapted to television from the Tony Hillerman novels of Leaphorn and Chee. The desirable aesthetic of the Navajo Nation in the background leaves you feeling like you are there in a spirit or wish to be.
If you want to watch a show that truly gives justice to Native Americans and watch a journey about the trials they still go through to this day, it’s a show for you.

There will be more Dark Winds on AMC.
The network has renewed the thriller for a fourth season. The news comes ahead of the premiere of its third season on March 9.
Season 4 of the series, which stars Zahn McClarnon, will begin filming in Santa Fe, Nm, in March and will air in 2026.
Much like Season 3, it will consist of eight episodes. Seasons 1 and 2 had six episodes each.
The news is not a huge surprise given the boost that Dark Winds seems to have gotten from its airing on Netflix. The first two seasons of the show are currently on the streamer and after they dropped in August, they remained in Netflix’s top 10 for over three weeks. Dark Winds also aired on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max as part of a two-month pop-up in 2023.
Season four will also feature the directorial debut of star and exec producer McClarnon.

AMC is getting an early start on the future of its drama series Dark Winds.
The company has renewed the series, based on Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee novels, for a fourth season. The pickup comes about two weeks before the March 9 premiere of season three on AMC and streamer AMC+.
Like the coming third installment, season four of Dark Winds will run for eight episodes, up from six apiece for the first two seasons. Production is slated to begin in March, with star and executive producer Zahn McClarnon making his directing debut on one of the episodes.
“When we greenlit the first season of Dark Winds, we saw the potential for an authentic and long-running franchise that could live alongside the worlds we were building around The Walking Dead and Anne Rice,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “That is exactly what this cast and creative team delivered,...

Few films possess the haunting emotional depth of “The Sweet Hereafter.” It is a film that doesn’t merely present a tragedy but rather immerses its audience in the reverberations of grief, guilt, and loss. Unlike conventional dramas that hinge on courtroom climaxes or clear resolutions, Atom Egoyan’s adaptation of Russell Banks’ novel refuses to deliver any straightforward answers. Instead, it unfolds like a fractured memory, where time bends and emotions blur, forcing us to navigate a labyrinth of suffering without the comfort of closure.
Egoyan’s screenplay plays out like a puzzle, a structure that immediately places the audience in a position of active engagement. There is no linear progression that neatly traces cause and effect, no clear antagonist or protagonist. What makes the film uniquely challenging is its demand for shifting allegiances—we are asked to build empathy for one character, only to have it redirected elsewhere...
